That is a frequently used policy in PiS. It is an effect of Kaczyński`s own policy of having leverage on all his men - when he does, he can be quite sure they will carry out all his orders. Dishonest people are easier to control and push around.

TVP under Jacek Kurski ran a hideous campaign against the mayor of Gdańsk which was one of the reasons he was assassinated a few years ago by a PiS fan. Later, a few known people publicly stated that TVP was guilty of inciting to murder. Furious PiS TVP pseudo journalists sued their critics but are losing in courts.

Krzysztof Skiba (a famous rockman) won in court with TVP for the third time
The District Court in Warsaw decided in the appeal that Krzysztof Skiba does not have to apologize to Telewizja Polska for the words that the station was hounding the murdered mayor of Gdańsk Paweł Adamowicz and is "morally responsible for his death".

Adamowicz was killed by a mentally ill man. Don't you remember what his own mother was saying about this guy? She said that he told her he'll do something and that there are going to be "victims". I think she even reported it to the police, but it wasn't taken seriously.
