he'd lead some charmed life hanging out

He'd not be chasing money like that.

It's still considered in bad taste for sons of the gentry to do real work

That's long gone.

Being money-minded is however considered unworthy. It's not considered a good topic for conversation.

It must be one of the few places in the world where the head of government is not allowed to know exactly how much money they have or what it's invested in.

In Poland however, the culture is more materialistic which has bad effects on political life.

Which is not necessarily a bad thing. Salaries in politics should be substantially raised but at the same time more draconian anti-corruption laws introduced and the crooks ruthlessly punished and removed from public life forever. Unfortunately, considering Platforma's history and PiS's conduct towards their shady members (see Mejza, for example), I wouldn't hold my breath.

Materialism is of course bad, however yes, salaries should be enough to make it attractive and also have a golden goodbye if they're voted out. And yes, corruption among politicians and others in public life should never be normalised and should always be prosecuted.

Parliamentary immunity (and that of judges and prosecutors) should also go immediately. There is no good reason for it; they are not diplomats.

It doesn't see to do much harm in places like the Netherlands, Switzerland or South Korea. Besides, to paraphrase a well-known song "we are living in a material world and we are material men". ;)

Money is not the most important thing.

It is the only thing. Ever tried to feed the family with love and poetry?

When you have money, everything is easier and your wife is happier.

Oops...sorry...bad example...

mentioned many times before doing it that parliament is not a synagogue.

Did anyone say it was? Did he make any kind of formal complaint? Attempt to bring the matter to the floor of the Sejm?

Or did he grandstand for publicity?

Or did he grandstand for publicity?

MLK should have written a letter to his democratically elected legal representative instead of telling the crows something about his "dream"...

Or in fact it does a great deal. Perhaps Bhutan have it right.

When you have money

Perhaps people who work in crap jobs and struggle end up fixating on it,

Or did he grandstand for publicity?

Far from a coincidence that cameras were rolling.

Far from a coincidence that cameras were rolling.

And the marks ate it up and asked for more..... (knowing how professional wrestling works is an amazingly good key for figuring out how politicians do things).
