MMM, Just reading this forum has given me second thoughts about living there, but maybe my experience will be a little different as I have a Polish wife, or maybe worse, who knows. Anyway I intend to give it a go shortly, I just need to sort out a business plan and premises for a pub, get a licence, fictures and fittings and go...

I'll keep you;s posted on how I get on, and in the meantime if anyone has any info as to Alcohol Licensing & Costs, please come back to me, or with anything that may well be of use to me..

Thanks
Marcus

Have you had your conversations with Sanepid yet? That's the first priority, and probably the first bribe you'll have to pay.

Officially it's the Health Department. In fact its a bureaucratic empire with virtually no limits on its powers. Not the only one you'll have to deal with here, I should mention.

Actually we are not liars, we only tell half-truths. Or at least thats what my family says.

And you believe'em??? I bet you they're lying half the time. This would mean that Poles lie about 1/4 of times.
Oh, wait - I'm a Pole too, so I've just told a half truth, which means that Poles lie about 1/8 of times!

Seems to me like the Brits have little room to talk leaving these folks out in the cold to fend for themselves against the Russians. If you are lied to consider it owed to you, but then you've mused this yourself Wroclaw Boy.

hmm, hope you are not talking about me. I've spent more of my life living in Europe than in america. Also, it was a joke....

The Polish have always been a nation of liars. I was on a bus yesterday and got talking to an old man who is a close neighbour. He was telling me about life in England just after the war when they filled all the ex prisoner of war camps with Poles! There is agreement between us and that was that in many ways, Polish nastiness is genetic and inborn and is beyond the self help or control of the Poles themselves. After the end of World War 2 in England with the arrival of the Poles knife crime rose almost over night.

At least we have an explanation for ours, but can you justify yours?

Thats absolute rubbish. The POW camp that my Grandfather was in, never housed poles and was turned into a farm equipment storage area when the POWs were released.

he POW camp that my Grandfather was in, never housed

That might be true but is not true of all of them and it is certainly not true of the POW camp near Slough of which I was speaking.

Honestly dude that is all BS. I'm polish and know for a fact that my people are truthful . Maybe you associate with some bad people. They 'll only lie if they don't trust you.

I have an explanation for your nastiness-it does not come from you so please do not try and turn things around. Life in Canada sure is boring. Anyway, I know the Polish very well indeed and they lie the whole time. no wonder there are thirty words in the Polish vocabulary for bull ****! Be it on the telephone or in person they make things up as they go along like little children.

There are many honest people in Poland and you are just offending them talking like this. You should just learn to be able to tell who's the liar and not to do business with them.

For those who complain about girls... don't make me laugh, is it different in other countries? There will always be girls trying to manipulate men, to get what they want. Are you really THAT naive? Again, learn to choose the right ones. It's not about Poland, it's about common sense and knowing the ways of life. You try to tell me, that if i go to England i will find only honest girls there? :)

And finally the complains about paperwork everywhere... Well, I couldn't agree more. But what have people to do with that? Everyone is pissed about it and can't wait when that will change... It IS a horror, so think that we have to spend the whole life loosing nerves, not only a few years. All that offices are perfect workplaces for all the cousins and friends of people with connections, where they can do nothing, earn money and not be responsible for their actions... That's why we all have so many problems getting simple tasks done.

LOL. This seems to work perfectly in your case Michal. Doesn't it? Yeah, you are beyond help.

Sorry folks but the Poles are a Nation of liars. When you have an appointment with them or any kind of transaction which involves a Pole when they realise they cannot keep their side of the bargain they lie their way out of it rather than tell the truth ...

Much of this can be attributed to the overwhelming preponderance of Roman Catholicism in Poland. Turning their backs on the Bible, the Polish natives stumble about on the shifting sands of moral relativism with little regard for the consequences of their actions.

Of course, they reap what they sow, as history has demonstrated time and time again.

If this is the way you feel about the country you are a guest of, I suggest you leave immediately. May I ask you what the f are you doing there? Go home, homeboy.

I fully agree with you if you are fair enough to see it the same way when it comes to Poles living abroad too.
