The initiators of the project are a group of friends, young, private people, not any organisation, who would like to stop people from leaving Kielce. I know what they're talking about - I remember quite a few years ago I took a taxi and the taxi driver was complaining about young people leaving Kielce. He said: "Soon only old farts like me will live in this city". It's probably more women leaving my city than men, because there are less women than men here, which is unusual considering that in Poland in general there are more women than men.

Quote from the initiators of the project:
"Kielce is gray and we should make it joyful, more colourful, more infantile. (...) Rainbow is simply beautiful and we should be able to see it more often, not only after the storm."

Btw, besides the benches the project included waste segregation bins, bicycle holders, bowls for dogs, planting trees, etc. but everyone focused on the benches because of the colours. The initiators seem to be surprised that this became such a "national problem".

One thing I really don't like is when somebody takes me for an idiot.
I googled "Kielce benches" and those colors are all about LGBTRSXFDSO. Just as that display in Warsaw na placu Zbawiciela - now permanent. The claim that the colors are just rainbow and oh so cheerful is as dishonest as that "I am gay" means that the guy is simply happy.

Rich, you asked, so I found out for you - who those people are and what was their idea behind those benches. I'm not in their heads so I don't know whether they were being truthful or not with their explanations. 1300 people voted for the project, the benches are nice and colourful, so I like them. And I live here and I want the city to look nice, obviously. You don't live here, so I can't say I care what you think about those benches or the idea behind them, tbh.

I just said that I don't like being insulted and you are still at it. They could have painted them all colors - one color per bench. It would be less expensive, but they didn't because it would be less gay.

The Present Simple tense suggests not all of them were destroyed/vandalised. Right? I read they installed 13 benches in the park. How many are still operational? :)

Those benches...Can you imagine how hard it is to paint a bench like that using 7 different colors? They could have colored up that park using one color per bench. I could do one in ten minutes blindfolded. But, for some strange reason that has absolutely nothing - not even a tiny bit - to do with guys f**king guys they chose those "rainbow" colors. Sure. And I am a fluent Chinese speaker...
