It's easier for me to get a job than my polish boyfriend.

The never wrong attitude of a fair few here

The two-faced backstabbing of those that are oh-so friendly after a couple of drinks.

The desire to shake things up for the worse. Maybe Japan taught me that order and harmony are more important goals. The moaning is horrid.

Ok....I don't live in Poland....I live in the US. Both sets of my grandparents immigrated to the US. Since I was a little girl, I have always dreamed of visiting the country where my grandparents came from. Last year, I was finally able to visit Poland with a Polish friend of mine.

Not being a Polish native, I realize that my impressions will be different. But, I LOVED Poland. I loved the food (To me, everything is so fresh. It isn't loaded with all of the preservatives like it is in the States. My favorites were the trout, the cheese, and the salads. ). I loved the nature. The countrysides are truly breathtaking. It was so wonderful not seeing billboards everywhere. I really love the Polish herding dogs!!!!! I'm sorry, but I can't remember the name. But they are big, white, and wonderful!!!!! I loved the Open Markets. Got a GREAT pair of boots there!!!!

I have to say that I agree with the statements that some Polish people just seem so negative and don't smile. But, given the history of Poland, I can't say as I blame them. It is interesting to note, however....that in the US....at least to me anyway....the Polish people are much more positive, smiling, happy, and hospitable.

I realize that I don't live in Poland, so day to day experiences are different from a "week's visit"...but you truly have a beautiful country. I loved it and hope to return someday. It's better than you think.....

That's the problem. They dwell in the past. They keep reliving the negative effects of war. There is nothing they can do about it now, it's over. So smile more.

I hate wooden floors everywhere. I'm used to carpets in hospitals, schools and churches and in Poland everything has to have wooden floors. Wood is expensive in Poland, yet it's a status symbol to show they can afford wooden floors. When Poles build homes here in the US, they most often make the floor out of wood. It is such a pain to keep clean and you can hear everone clip clop.

Personally I would have thought the opposite. I had carpets for years back home in Ireland and all they did was catch dust and dirt, now I have wooden floors everywhere . . . clean, easy to clean, look great. Wooden floors are more popular than carpet everywhere in Europe, not just in Poland. They are just more practical

i've never seen a hospital with carpeted floors. that would be impractical and unsanitary, and probably illegal.

not all homes in PL have wood flooring as you think it is. It is LAMINATE. floorfacts.com/laminate-floors/laminate-floors.asp

it is not solid wood. Maybe houses built before the 70's might have real wood floors.

Absolutely, I certainly hope I never go into a hospital with carpet everywhere, can you imagine all the vomit and congulated blood stuck to it .... Yuck !

Yeah all my Polish buddies have either wooden or laminate, laminate are probably better because they dont scratch or chip as much

they scratch much more than proper wooden floor - the thing is laminate is much cheaper (also easier to make)

btw you can have wooden floors in many variants - in our home we have an old style wooden floor (boards on beams(?) it is covered with large old style panels for convenience

(it is called płyta wiórowa don't know the English name) - you can have modern style panels on top of such board floor

there's also parquet floor - the one made with plenty of tiny but soundly thick wooden parts (always real wood) - this one is glued to a solid floor preferably concrete.

I have found the opposite to be honest. I have solid wooden floors back home in Ireland in living room and dining room and they are destroyed from scratches and chips from stones on peoples shoes etc (the no shoes in the house cutom hasnt caught on in Ireland yet hehe) I have a good walnut style laminate everywhere else and the floors are perfect, even in the hallway etc where there is a lot of 'trraffic'. I guess the old style wooden floorboards might have better wear and tear than the new ones because they dont have a veneer. The parquet style one is what my gfs parents have all over the house, looks as good now as it probably did 20 yrs ago, we dont have those in Ireland :( All in all from a personal perspective I dont think solid or semi solid wooden floors are worth the money, the laminate is cheaper, looks the same and in my experience wears better. This thread is about three reasons why I hate Poland so I better write I HATE POLAND BECAUSE THERE ARENT ENOUGH WOODEN FLOORS, LAMINATE FLOORS, AND THEY STILL SELL CARPET IN LEROY MERLINS :D Now that should keep them happy

True enough. I would see the point in a hate thread on Scotland but I wouldn't like it. Hate is just too strong a word and encourages venting.

I am polish but what I suddenly realized what I hate in Poland...

Polish term for it is "wyzej srac niz dupe miec" - you can see it happen everywhere - best car, best house, best dog, best anything. The best example (!) is any of new polish movies - take a look, it's like Poland is bloody heaven, where all people have 1000 sqare meters homes, five cars, dont work at all, or work as journalists, doctors, politicians, judges.

And the real tragedy starts when someone else has something BETTER!

LOL

How true. I actually knew a fellow, who bought himself a used Audi A4 (lekko bity,
wyklepany) with something like 2.5 litre engine and for two weeks every month
the car just stood there on the parking because the stupid twat didn't have cash to
put fuel into it :)))))

It, apparently, never occured to him that it might have been better to buy
a smaller, like 1.4 engine car and just drive it the whole month :D

"Wyżej srać niż dupę mieć" - yip, that should be the official motto of Republic of Poland :)

Reminds me of Ireland in the 'boom', then it went 'boom' and a lot of tears :) Lets hope Poland doesnt go down the same road

I absolutely LOVE wooden floors! They look so lovely in old houses and if I had my way every house in the world would have them. I hate carpet because it gets dusty and you have to shampoo it.

Well, a Pole has to be a Pole to really polish his polishness.

Then damn Poles, why do they speak so much Polish?

For all those muslims and Hindu to hear and realize how difficult language
it is, so they never get an idea to settle in Poland 'cause they would have
to learn it if they did ;)

Ask Crow, he's a specialist on everything Slavic on this site :)

I don't hate Poland but there are some things i hate ABOUT Poland:
- beaurocracy
- Polish roads
- too much hatred for homosexual people
- dresiarze, menele etc.
- lacks in personal hygiene among many people
- too little tolerance for people who are even a bit different (piercing, wierd clothing, strange haircut etc.)
- high rates of unemployment
- wages compared to costs of living
- music culture - too little stations playing metal/rock/alternative music. Pop/techno/electro/disco music everywhere !
- people who think it makes them cool to play some crap techno loud in trams and buses.
- Poland still lives in the past. We should think more about our future.
- too many arguments in Polish parliament.
- too many Polish girls looking like barbie dolls - fake-looking dyed hair, fake tan, too much make-up. Too many of them are extremely easy for Arabs/Blacks/Indians etc.

- huge parts of Polish cities are old ruined "kamienice" and dull communistic blockhouses
- too much vandalism
- pressure. you have to work/study like a ******* ant. harder ! stronger ! faster ! schneller schneller !
- too little parking places in Polish cities.
- Police being strict about little unimportant issues and doing nothing about serious problems.
- huge influence of the catholic church in public life and politics.
- Polish men should care about themselves more. Not everyone looks cool with shaved hair, really. Some better clothes than tracksuit trousers and hooded-sweatshirt would be necessary as well. They drink too much bear and they should care about the hygiene much more.

- I wish there was less corruption, hooligans and more modern stadiums in Poland.

It can look like i hate this country but i don't. This is where i was born and the country i hope to involve my future.

Polish people are hardcore Slavs.

Yeah, you can tell them "Stop being so slavic !" and they keep on doing that !
