You don`t visit the countryside in the summer???? What about an immortal granny living in the countryside who you can go to for holidays???:):):)

PS. Don`t give up. You mentioned potato harvest. It might also produce that hollow sound in certain conditions. How?

@pawian, my immortal, unbeatable, super granny has only grown potatos, wheat and strawberries in the field, as far as I can remember, so I don't have any ideas anymore :)) ;)

You mentioned potato harvest. It might also produce that hollow sound in certain conditions. How?

The only thing that came to my mind was digging out potatos with the use of a hoe - the hoe hitting the ground makes a sort of blunt noise... Not sure about "hollow" though...

the hoe hitting the ground

Nope, it isn`t hollow and doesn`t reverberate so noisily across the fields.

Hint - what do you do with a potato after digging it out???

They're throwing the potatoes in a... I dunno.... a potato container?

Or are they banging them against something to shake some of the dirt off?

. a potato container?

What kind?

I hate to buy them soiled potatoes

You can buy washed and unwashed ones.

Why not if they have a Water pipe again

Small farmers don`t usually wash potatoes in the field. It is enough when they just scrape chunks of soil off the skin. Thorough washing is performed in food processing plants.

Wheelbarrow, small cart, Marrows, aubergines?

Nope and nope, sorry. They are picking cucumbers, throwing them into plastic buckets. A few people move along 1 hectar strip of land and each carries a bucket. Each day there is new crop of cucumbers so they are doing it for weeks. :):):)

Today it is the first time this year when I am annoyed it is raining. It was supposed to start raining late afternoon and I had planned to do some jobs in the orchard and field.

Call me crazy but I have kept a diary of rainy days since April.
My entries:
April - frequent rains
May - 02.05., 06.05., 16-17-18.05
June - 09.06., 13.06., 24.06.,
July - 01.07., 12.07., 19.07., 26.07
August - 01.08

I classify those rainy days from 10% which means short drizzle to 300% which means total downpour. The one like that was on 26.07. The percentage is measured by checking the level of water in the rainwater collection tank next to our barn. 100% rain means the tank has been filled to the brim.

I must be careful in case they mistake a baboon for a big mouse.

Talking about rodents - this year, after 10 years of the ownership, I found the first rat in our barn. It was dead from the poison I had put there to combat the mice invasion.

One of the biggest I have seen in my life:

You plant trees.
OP pawian  221 | 25345

Yes, I dug 8 holes for new trees. They have been waiting for their content since August until recently.
The rat carcass landed in one of the holes. I covered it with black agrifabric to keep dampness so that a new tree isn`t too dry after planting (the wetter, the better - that`s the rule pertaining to our climate and soil)

Imagine my utter amazement when last week I uncovered the fabric and didn`t find the body. A fox must have preyed on it.
