g said this, I do miss weak 4% pints. It's just no fun going to the pub, drinking three half litres and finding oneself rather inebriated...

That's caught me out a few times - both in Poland, and in bars that serve Polish beer here in London... I'll never learn :D

Cheery old people i.e. ones who dont scowl at you and demand respect just because they've managed to stay alive for 60 years. Most of them have been retired since they were 40 and are being subsidised by the younger generation's taxes yet they still feel the need to treat people with disdain. Its a shame the icy pavements of Poland havent put a few more of them out of action.

Just take a train: they're far better and cheaper than the English ones.

I'm going to call you out on this one. You cannot say with a straight face that they're better, surely? :D 3h30 from Jelenia Góra to Wrocław (all of 100km!) tells you all about the state of some of the lines here...

But cheaper, most definitely. Although since the fast trains got moved from Regional to Intercity, they appear to have scrapped the half price 2nd ticket - which is rubbish :(

The lack of stupidly cheap advance-purchase tickets annoys me as well, especially if you want to take anything more expensive than TLK :(

here are lots in Warsaw. Arti, Namaste, Ganesh, Arti Clay oven, new Arti opening soon.

I have been to a couple ....I think they are waaay over priced.....the nan breads are well not authentic....the onion bhagi's are onion rings!!...and nooooooooooo lamb!

but imma sure look out for the decent steaks.....

the trains run at a 79% on time rate....not bad...but not great...ad you can't take the train to the local carrefour!!

lol at cheap skate!...I had sky installed last week..thank god!

The local beverly hills had no recent movies...dvd's were in terrible condition

the so called art of queuing here is to get to the front as quickly as possible, trample on whoever...and be as selfish as possible!

These are just minor things.....overall great country...with huge potential!

Awww I find pensioners in Poland an absolute delight. I've had a few encounters with them, when they've stopped me in the park to chat about the weather, or admire my mate's baby.

Why? are you thinking of getting married to your Polish boyfriend in Spain? Combining honeymoon and vows?

Oh ho ho? What's this? Putting out feelers Shelly? Finding out whether the thinking woman's beefcake is attached? Sorry but I have to say I am - to a woman. Be strong. I'm flattered, honestly I am, but we have to remain friends. Of sorts. Ships that pass in the night.

You think those places are over-priced? Go to Tandoor Palace or India Curry: they charge more than double the prices of Namaste/Arti/Ganesh.

Fat people AND smokers should be banned from restaurants as they are both health hazards! Nothing more off putting

Don't forget ugly people also. There is nothing worse than just about to eat your steak with an ice cold stella, and there you go, an ugly person appears in your vision, the whole "aesthetic picture" evapourates instantly.

on the train journey to school I remembered something else I would like to have brought over here............cash machines that don't charge you 6 zl every time you take cash out of other banks machines.....i got stung with 120zl last month....totally sucked!...how many stellas could I have bought with that

Ok, the UK is not my country, but I'd import from here:

- Prices of 4x4s (which seem to be heaps lower than these on the continent)
- Doubledeckers (although their upper floors sometimes are hives of asbo-scum and villainy)
- Strangers (an average stranger is much more likely to be friendly or at least not hostile)
- Motorways (not the secondary roads; the one I live at is peppered with potholes like a good ol' Swiss cheese and reminds me of Ye Olde Land when I try to dodge these bloody holes)

cheese

Cheese. Blue cheese. Soft, creamy blue cheese with a delicate flavour, possibly made with goat's or ewe's milk.

I'd also like the music to be better. Don't get me wrong - the jazz is great stuff, but the modern popular music of Poland that I've heard (and I'm not just talking DP here) doesn't do anything for me. I'd send some of that Swedish indiepop across the Baltic, perhaps a bit of Brazilian Tropicalia as well.

Stella Artois? No thanks. Polish beer is more than good enough as it is.

No I can't do that ...I promised my stunning girlfriend I would give it a go here.

Sure I could take the cowards way out and return to England..I have a house there..my family...friends..and all the above mentioned!...

But i actually do like and somewhat love this country!....In my 1st terrifying week i was invited to various grills....a wedding.....and to a football party...which actually was terrifying once Germany scored their 1st goal!

I only started this thread as a bit of fun...as I was feeling a lil homesick....its totally natural to want..or need things from back home..it don't mean I have to go back!

Also...the amount of 'Polish Skleps'....or 'Polish Restaurants' in England...especially in Bournemouth proves that Poles also miss home...need a reminder of home...and like what they like!....at a club in Bournemouth i organized a 'Polish Party'...for Polish people...(my girlfriend made me do it!)....so during research I asked Polish people what they would like.......Polish Vodka...Polish music.....Polish food....POLISH PEOPLE!!!...They like I missed home...a lil reminder of home is natural.

The party was a great success...even for the 300 people who were unfortunately left outside due to the club being full to capacity!....oh btw...thank god for the Polish and their drinking culture!!...as I was on 10% bar sales commission I made a killing!

Its a good job you couldnt understand Polish as the abuse they were giving the English referee that night would have made you feel even more uncomfortable.

Shelly, I asuume ur a smoker so let me enlighten you. Fat people cant kill me with their eating, smokers can kill me with their habit, just look at Roy Castle.

Fat people cost the NHS more than smokers (and pay a damn sight less in tax on their fat habit)! A fat person could fall on me, therefore endangering my life, in fact there is as much chance of me dying from a fat person falling on me as there is of you dying of passive smoking!

Do you live here or are you just a UK hater. The variety of staeaks we get in the UK is much wider than here, try and find a nice T-bone or some excellent sirloin.

Hang on a minute! I love my country! The quality of meat in the UK is poor, unless you pay £25 quid for a half decent steak - I have had some lovely steaks in Poland for a fraction of that price and had it cooked for me in the bargain! As for T-bone, one moment you are going on about dying of passive smoking yet you will take the chance of contracting CJD!

If Poland had all of those things it wouldn't be Poland anymore. I would agree to a few I suppose like the chip shops lol

..Polish police seem better than british police from what I have seen. I felt sorry for a guard in Krakow as he was attacked by a British drunk when I was there. Also I tried Steak when I went and was brilliant just how I wanted it.
