What should I get for a gift for somebody who's never visited Poland?

Prince Polo is another perfect gift from Poland.

No, an elegant T-shirt with Women`s Strike symbols will be much better for a gift:

Women`s Strike

No one abroad will understand it.

Oh, you emphasize understanding.

How about a figurine of JP2???

I once watched a video on youtube how foreigners tried Polish sweets and they liked Prince Polo and Jeżyki the best. Maybe it would be a cool and sweet gift.

You can also recommend a blog that might encourage her to learn Polish!

Prince Polo and Jeżyki

Much the same as cheap and low-quality confectionary everywhere. If people want a sweet present, the chocolate-covered cherries with vodka a nicer and less ordinary.

I would much rather get PrincePolo

the chocolate-covered cherries with vodka

Agree. Maybe it's the British Isles taste buds functioning differently. I quite like those Cherrissimo/Mieszko cherry liqueurs.

PrincePolo

I just find those identical to wafer biscuits anywhere, and lower quality than most other confectionary. There used to be a batonik in Poland that I liked. It was called Mr Ron but I've not seen it in the shops for maybe 20 years.

Cherrissimo/Mieszko cherry liqueurs.

Those are nice.

Błeee. Strange flavour.

I really like Kasztanki lol I think they're my favourite :)))

Me also, I think (not as a present though - just to eat it :)). I don't like the taste of those fruit inside sweets (I don't understand why foreigners like them/recommend them). If I want to eat fruit, I just eat it fresh - it tastes much better.

identical to wafer biscuits anywhere,

Me too. Not a great fan of wafery things with a thin coating of 'chocolate like product' :) It could be a nostalgia thing with Polish people. They remember them from childhood and the taste has happy associations.

Iceland for example loves Prince Polo.

I can't remember the brand or what they are called, maybe Edelmans?
But they are a soft centred gooey sweet with a very thin layer of "chocolate like substance" surrounding the little bars.
Poles used to bring them back from Poland and the only people that loved them were the Indians.
I thought they were absolutely disgusting!
By contrast, when I was a kid, dad used to often visit a Polish deli and, amongst other things, brought home Kruwki.Little hard fudge sweets with a red cow on the packet.

We loved them as kids.
But younger Poles have since told us they hated them.

Is ir possible you mean Ptasie Mleczko?

Kruwki.Little hard fudge sweets with a red cow on the packet.

I like Krówki. The trick is to find the ones with hardness/ softness you like

You may be right, they did have a milk theme about them....But not real milk....urgh!!!!

I like Krówki. The trick is to find the ones with hardness/ softness you like

I did too, but as I said, some of the younger Poles over here hated them
I don't know why.

I used to eat Krówki when I was a kid, but I can't say I'm a fan... My mother likes them though.

Me too, but we have better fudge available now.
I would probably still eat one if offered one, but I would not go to and buy any.

Good. Now I can stop pretending to like it, when speaking to foreigners.

Isn't it Ukrainian. "Ptica moloko" or something like thay...from Mr. Poroschenko?

Yes, I'm sure. The image I posted is from the Russian company Rot Front (founded 1826). Poroshenko's company, which is much larger, is called Roshen.
