LOL...You eat it by the kilo?

you can get a chunk of cheese and there are always two prices given: for that chunk and for a kilo.

Terziev, what's your point?

The prices in the Polish deli back home were really reasonable.

I did :) But thanks for your belated recommendation. You can have all the bland overpriced stuff to your lonesome ;)

If in Krakow....... many - I eat "Italian" food there and it was of a very low standard....didnt see any Greek restaurants, or I would have been in like a shot! Meze at lunch time in the summer would be a dream...You'd make a fortune!

But you dont buy it by the kilo though, anyway, I can honestly say and agree that the cheese in Poland was dreadful...really bland..but there were other things that were nice...I didnt go to eat cheese sandwiches! :D

You really made me laugh with the whole "oreo" thing mate. It's like me living, say, in Italy for some time and whinging that I can't get my favourite Flipsy with toffee flavour and calling them "decent food".Hilarious.

You're right, that was me just spouting off some of the things that I miss. Now please let me know where I can get decent cuts of beef, and good fruits and veggies?

Oh right...back home.

I beg to differ. I have a Polish girlfriend and I think she is great. She is not much different to my other girlfriends.

Just wait. They start out great and a slow and subtle change occurs. You will see it for yourself.

God forbid they hit 25 and aren't married. Between their family, friends and TV pressuring them your life will change.

You have places like ready's and sphinx that you can eat at, but again, the quality is dreadful. Whenever a decent restaurant pops up, no one goes to it because paying and extra couple of zloty for good food and good service is out of the question. Same people that pack the malls and buy 200zl blouses.

Where did you get the information from that I'm in Poland?
And: thank you very much :]

I have nothing to worry about there, I all ready asked that one.

Greek restaurants abroad lack the proper ingredients as far as I have noticed like real olives, onions, feta, real olive oil, fresh
mediteranean fish, tasty meat from village and mountains etc.
Probably the same is true for Italian because in Italy I was exited by food quality and their art in cooking variations.

So you are Polish but live abroad? Would make more sense as they are the ones who moan the most about all things Poland. If you are not connected at all you must just like to argue about food.

There just isn't much demand for quality products here...Probably a direct relation to wages, but nonetheless.

nothing related to wages, just cultural trait - taste of food is not that important, nutrition values are first. believe me, even for polish standards i am quite poor guy, plus all polish people i communicate with are at least upper-middle class even by UK standarts. yet funny enough i spend MUCH more on food and eating out than on clothes for example. another awful trait about polish people is their stinginess. i'm always amazed how even rich polish guys doesnt have anything against and arent ashamed getting everything possible for free and taking advantage of poorer people. i wont even start to describe their whining about prices, no matter how low these are. that even in front of theirr wifes or girlfriends. trust me, everywhere in the world women hate stingy men and stinginess is not related to income, but to cultural habits.

thanks god they are not

i was praising polish girls with this one, i am really grateful they are not like german, american or english ones. otherwise it would be true nightmare.

I can't eat in Polish restaurants of any brand as they push the tables so close together you can't move the chair to get up and have to deal with your neighbors elbowing you all the time. Couple that with the crappy service and it's not fun at all to go eat out.

And Sphinx is one of those places. A desperate fail, putting extra custom ahead of customer comfort.

I read some other comments of yours and I'm really surprised that you know so much, if not everything, about:Poles generally, polish food, living in Poland, unmarried women in Poland, etc.

Where did you learn all that, beelzebub?

I understood :) but my gf has many things in common with the other nationalities.

She answers an "or" question with "yes"

She stops halfway through a sentence and I must finish it off

She says she does not want sex then complains 5 mins later when I go to sleep

there are more

There are some great places to eat here though, but they are struggling. Price reflects quality, the majority of people would rather eat out multiple times at a crappy place than a single time at a decent place.

exactly my point. money are not that important, but the traditions are. polish think this way: 'why to go to this restaurant when i can eat the same food at home at half of the price'. and again its not because they cant afford it. values you know...

EVERYWHERE IS BETTER than in UK so such comparisons are unnecessary. ok ok, i know i am repeating myself.

One less scummy foreigner to worry about coming here, I should be glad you dislike it so much - we have enough Bulgarian onion pickers here anyway! (or is you hate based on the fact you couldnt get a work permit?)

thanks god they are not

How would you know? None of them date dirty Bulgies (pakis of Eastern Europe!)

Where did you learn all that, beelzebub?

Im guessing she lived there.

Pepsi/Coke products" in general. Yes, they taste different, and better, in America. My students never believe that one.

How ODD, I dont really drink Coke (or any other fizzy drinks), but my friend has a bit of a diet coke addiction and says that coke everywhere else is different to what its like in the UK...You have the "light" stuff they sell on mainland Europe and she wont touch that either...

what always cracks me up about the Polish mentality is their idea of healthy and unhealthy. Kielbasa, Paczki, fried pierogi in butter, cakes, big pieces of breaded and fried pork cutlets, potatoes.....as long as it's "fresh" and "my grandma makes it in the village"....it's healthy to a pole.

A cheeseburger is laughable to them, but 2 paczki for breakfast, a Prince Pollo for lunch, and an ice cream cone on the way home to eat god knows what for dinner.....perfectly healthy.

One could almost argue that 2 paczki have more calories, and less nutritional value, than a Big Mac.

hahahaha, right in the bulls eye. still these are woman thing which i kinda like (at least when i am not tense). i dont want a buddy to watch football at saturdays, i tend to prefer a somewhat spoiled princess.

and about polish girl not wanting sex.... well, these are like the aliens, everybody has heard about them, but nobody has actually seen one.
