How's life in Mielec?

I just got a job offer in Mielec but I don't know anything about it except for the fact that it seems to be in Southern Poland and some parts of the Katowice satellite cities are on the same latitude so a trip from there to Mielec is dotted with towns and villages, some surprisingly nice. Supposedly driving there is like driving in the USA (low density, fields or forrests until eyes can see). Is that true? What's life in Mielec like?

Mielec

A huge airline factory there. It's a pleasant enough town centre. Not that much happening but a few bars/restaurants/hotels. The cost of living is reasonable there.

Cool, much better than living next to a huta. My other option was a town near Katowice - Dąmbrowa which looked very nice with its tree-lined streets on Street View. Then I learned it's next to a huta... pollution must be awful there. Are there any venuesblioe pubs in Mielec where one can play a guitar and perform? I have a side semi-career as a pop-rocker. ;)

It's not too bad apart from a faint buzz some nights when they're casting iron. We're very close to one and pollution levels are relatively low here.

Dąmbrowa

Dąbrowa Górnicza? It's a bit of a dump however it's very handy to travel into Kato etc, and there's some nice countryside round there. Cheap living costs too.

There are a few bars however I've only been on business and therefore more interested in places to eat (there are a few though not many). It didn't strike me as a big place for going out, however there are pubs near the rynek and at least one had music.

A shame he hasn't commented. I used to enjoy his stories about the street culture there.
