ZUS is payable by all employees on long-term contracts. It does not matter that you have private health care.
If you have a problem with that - please write to the Prime Minister of Poland.

Question about ZUS calculation

Hi, I'm looking for a payroll advise. I'll start a new job on 19th but finish the old one on 28th. Should I pay tax, ZUS, etc twice for the overlapping period? Or is it possible to opt out ZUS from the gross-net calculation?

you'll have a small contribution to pay for the overlapping period given that you need to pay ZUS with each employer but from the second job onwards its only about a quarter of full ZUS if I remember correctly.

ZUS is payable as a percentage of the amount earned. If you are employed on a full-term contract the correct ZUS will be deducted. Unfortunately, you have not given us sufficient details of your employment to advise you accurately. It really does matter whether you are employed, self-employed, or working to any other contract.

I have been working in Poland 4 years and plan to retire here. My salary is around 180k per annum PLN.

I am curious about how ZUS works (Don't worry I know many people think it won't exist when I retire) in terms of the following:

* What is the maximum an employee and an employer can pay per year (PLN) into the scheme
* How are pension payments calculated?

If you are near retirement age you can ask ZUS to give you an idea of how much you will get. The amount depends on your earnings and the years you have put in. No one can give you an estimate except ZUS. You could search on-line for the maximum,but it is better to put your money in property.

not everyone uses or gets zus. zus is only useful for healthcare. freelancers or digital nomads like me get no zus.

Polish zus is garbage money anyway for those who get it or retirees. its like a hundred dollars a month. how can you compare hundred or thousand dollar stimulus checks to zus? are you out of ur mind?

Quite. It isn't a stimulus check. Rent is mostly for people with disabilities.
