How to pay Polish fines when you are not in Poland

Last weekend I was stopped by the Police riding an electric scooter. I drank beer before and had about 0.3% alcohol, which is apparently forbidden in Poland.

Well okay, I'm not complaining.

The police officer told me I had to pay 2500zl, but that I could do so within 7 days.
But...there is no information on how to pay the fine on the papers I received.
I guess they are made to give to a Polish post office, but I'm not in Poland any longer.

Apparently there is a way to pay online, but you need a PESEL number, which again, I don't have.
I tried to put my German ID as the policewoman wrote on the MANDAT KARNY paper, but that does not work.

Now I have no idea how to pay it.

Any ideas?

Write them a letter saying you tried to pay and asking for details how to do that

Get some proof you posted the letter.

There is only a tiny chance they will answer that.

After that forget about it

I would not forget about it.
I agree with the letter as proof (keep a copy with dates) and sent it registered with a return signature for proof of who signed for it.

Then when you get that receipt back of proof of service wait ten days and give the police department a call and ask them how to proceed.

Right at the start of the call first thing tell them that they are on a recorded line and ask the WHO you are speaking with because you are forgetful and want to be sure to do it exactly as instructed.

That really stymie's them so they can't just pass the buck and hoodwink you with bla bla bla and say that you were never told that or you must have misunderstood.

Thats how I would do it anyways.......
Good luck my friend

If you don't intend to come to Poland again, you can probably forget it. However, if you want to come to Poland again, it's better to pay.

Now that is just genius, REALLY ! or did you just want to get into the conversation too ?
If you don't pay you could possibly be denied getting your German driver's license renewed too until your issue gets resolved.
The whole time the price of the ticket increases do to interest being tacked on every month.
They hope you will just forget about it so they can have even more control over you while collecting even more money from you.
My advice is to be responsible, stay on it and take care of it a.s.a.p.

I don't think the Germans would make it difficult for him for the unpaid ticket from Poland. EU is not US.

EU is not US.

It's not ? Goully !
And here the whole time I thought both Poland and Germany belonged to the E.U.
Now the way I would do it is just call the cop shop and ask them how to take care of it.

Do they speak English? Wouldn't even know who to call honestly...
I wrote an Email to the Polish National Police for the time being.

This system honestly baffles me.

I know now foreigners are usually made to pay on the spot. Instead they told me, I could just transfer the money.
Yet there is no IBAN number to transfer to because, apparently, Polish traffic fines are considered tax and are therefore paid to the tax office.

Which you can only do with a Polish tax number.

The trip alone would cost me as much as the fine and it's not clear, if I can even use the slip at the post office because there's a filed to input that PESEL number again.

I might just never go back again if I cannot resolve this.

Unlike US the EU dont have shared computers YET.The usual process in Poland is also the same, the court will issue summons if they could find his address and then issue warrants, but since this case is not important they should not bother to look for his adress to deliver summons. Most likely nothing might happen now maybe when if they share computers.I imported a 2500$ car in 2001 and sold it and forgot about it until in 2011,I got a certified letter from the excise & customs(Uzad Celny) to pay duties amounting to 3000$ almost and increasing with heavy interest.I had to pay that to close that matter.Poland is now catching up so I wouldnt mess with the govt fines etc.

I remember when I imported my first 2 cars in 2001 and in 2008 I loaded them with VCRs,TVs,dvd players etc and nobody cared about that but when I imported after 2011 they even checked the cases of engine oil, bike rack and wrote that or pay customs on it.
