Will a notarized photocopy of Polish documents be enough, or will they need to be Apostilled?

If I were to use photocopies of Polish Documents in Poland for the citizenship confirmation application, can I just get them notarised (by an Australian notary public) or will they need to be both notarised and stamped with an Apostille? An Apostille stamp costs ~$230zł per document, so I would rather avoid it. Unfortunately the Polish consulate is much too far to travel to so that's not an option. Thank you for any advise.

They do not accept notarized copies, only original documents. The rules are spelled out here:
