Work / Need your help about studying in Poland (I'm from Vietnam) [12]

sobieski

dear chumly whalla sobieski

please be aware that vietnam is a country undergoing great change and many are going abroad to benefit from a foreign education, as opposed to going abroad for employment opportunities and social benefits, which are more attractive to poles

poland's education system, as woeful as it is, offers a viable alternative to what is on offer in their home land at a price that is considerably more affordable than say america, the uk or australia

people who can afford to send their children abroad, even to poland, have considerably more money than you will ever have and, as is the tradition there, invest this in their children's future

the vast majority of vietnam's young adults going abroad for tertiary education will return to their homeland to assist in it's development. those who choose not to are often offered attractive salaries to remain where they have studied. it's not cleaning toilets for them, my dear wallah

jody, if you are in hcmc you might try contacting The Education Company Jacqueline Dyer 28C, Mai Thi Luu Da Kao Ward, District 1, HCMC, Vietnam Telephone: +84 8 2210 2126/ 7. Email: jdyer@tec.edu.vn

i believe they are a competent company and will be able to answer your question more accurately than people here

UK, Ireland / Warning to British people visiting Poland!! Don't get drunk and smash the place up! [447]

Haha, not a guru, just someone who was actually there doing it day-to-day rather than sprouting ill-informed crap from afar

Now living in self-imposed exile in a distant land where the temperature doesn't drop below 25C, the beer is less than a dollar and there is no problem sustaining a healthy vegetarian lifestyle. I've always wanted to live somewhere with palm trees...

Much as I love Poland, no honestly, I do, I wont be back for anything more than a quick visit for the foreseeable future - many more exciting things happening here with a much more positive attitude and an appreciation that was always lacking in Poland...

Never married an American woman, as lovely as she was...

Thanks for the welcome :-)

yes yes gregory but seriously, why would johnny englander give a fuk about the women and children of poland - we like our hired help to be invisible - we want our toilets to be clean without having to worry about the little people who clean them

we come to your country to shag your women, because they're cheap and easy, to drink your beer to excess, to **** on your streets, throw up in your door ways and generally abuse the locals in anyway we see fit

because we can

do you still live within spitting distance of germany?

gosh it must be hard for you, knowing life is better just a few short kilometers down the road

chin up, there's a good chap

Love / Polish men what is the worst thing a girl can do upon first impression? [360]

if i buggered off and left my wife and kid i think she would struggle immensely to provide for herself and the child - she endlessly tells me that looking after children is a full time job, and i dont disagree with her

if we are to talk evolution and go back to the earliest stages of human civilisation, culture and communities, women would have found it extremely difficult to provide for and protect whilst raising children at the same time without the essential help of men.

in fact, we know this to be the case and we have evolved accordingly. why do you think communities of women tend to menstruate at the same time?

i think there must be a misunderstanding. i took what you wrote to suggest that mans' only role in the evolutionary process was to impregnate women and that all other contributions are merely artificial additions to make us feel better about ourselves. clearly i was mistaken.

All the other things we made up that are supposed to be a man's role are all arteficial additions to avoid making men aware of the limited role they have in evolution.

i always thought you were a man m-g but perhaps i misjudged you as you misjudge mans' role in evolution

History / Should visitors to Auschwitz pay an entrance fee? [82]

after 7 decades of exposure to the elements, auschwitz is crumbling and much of it is deemed unsafe for visitors

ongoing conservation efforts are being made to try and preserve the camp's disintegrating infrastructure but is this the way forward or should we allow the site to be slowly reclaimed by nature

if we are to continue its preservation who is to fund this?

poland has for many years provided the vast majority of funding for auschwitz but many believe, understandably, that this responsibility should fall to germany

others are arguing that visitors should pay an entrance fee and that this money should be used for the memorial’s upkeep

what are your thoughts?

bolek you silly little polish fukwit, you never did know anything about the polish property market and you never will

i made good money from flipping in poland for a number of years and this forum served a purpose. i still have property there that was bought way below market value as a long term investment - it was obvious the market was going titsup and i moved on sometime ago. duh

i now live in in a tropical climate where the beer is cheap, the weather hot and the women easy - ask admin where im posting from as i know you dont believe me

you are, and always have been, just another polish plonker. give up, you will never amount to anything

Real Estate / How are Poland's properties priced? [51]

PLK (glad youre doing good) hits the nail on the head when he says that property prices are based on greed. thats the long and short of it.

you will go and view 2 properties, next to each other - one has been renovated beautifully, the other is a mess. strangely enough they will be priced identically. mr greedy in property 2 thinks his is worth the same as the one that has been renovated. because he is a greedy fool.

long and short of it. no logic as we would understand it. this is poland.

harry says a property is worth what someone will pay for it. plenty of fools in poland prepared to pay over the odds.

mr bullfrog is right too. but the above polish property valuation technique applies. what else would you expect. seriously

Real Estate / House prices in Poland to drop more or rise again? [228]

There also seems to be an influx of people now longing to own their own house on a piece of land where they can breath a bit.

this is inevitable and hardly suprising

but i remember just a few years ago saying to friends who wanted to buy in the 3M that they would be so much better off looking just a little way out of the city - more for your money, fresh air, garden for the kids and dog, close to shops etc on the obwodnice, and only a short drive to Sopot, Gdansk or Gdynia

but would they listen...?

whatever

except for my business partner who took my advice, bought a good sized plot in rebiechowo for a bargain price, built a beautiful house and is now enjoying a much better life

Unless Poland is different, in the States and elsewhere a country property is just a country property and is priced accordingly, If property prices increase it will do so in city locations. The country is where the natives live, take a drive to a country town and see for yourself.

let me guess, youre an american with no experience of realestate, or life for that matter, anywhwere else in the world...

it's refreshing to meet somebody in an online forum who can debate without decending into insults (which frankly shows a loss of an argument and self control)

you appear to miss the fundamental point tony, which tends to suggest your experience of debating runs no further than heated discussions in a pub.

News / Poland's Vietnamese: A tough transition but they're surviving [31]

the poles have a lot to learn from the vietnamese. both are cultures of blame yet, as budhists, the viet look forward whereas the poles look back.

this offers some explanation of why the viet have got over their past hardship and look towards a bright, prosperous future... whereas the poles harp on about how hard-done-by they constanly are, and how its always someone elses fault
