Life / Thoughts on Music in Poland [132]

I was walking around rynek@ wroclaw last saturday and saw a concert happening.. There was an interesting rock group playing but did not manage to get their name.

Later Gosia Andrzejewicz came and started singing. Was really impressed by her talent and singing. Infact I used to hear her in Viva, but never really used to watch the video (for I play that channel only when I need some background music in the house).

It was one of the most enjoyable concerts in Poland so far, though that aint my fav style of music.

Life / Thoughts on Music in Poland [132]

I've just got back from Maanam in concert.

Mixed emotions for having missed it... While staying with rain fear seems like a wise thing to have done, missing a 70's feel rock show is more of a crime.. So net net, I believe I am at a loss for having missed it.. :(

One of my fav polish groups are Akurat. Here is their site, if you would like to sample.

Life / Thoughts on Music in Poland [132]

I have heard a few Polish bands live and I am full of respesct for their talent...

So far the ones that have impressed me most are akurat, lao che, fisz, hurt, vava muffin, pustki and so on.. Not too sure if all of them are Polish as any european language other than english and french are alien to my ears.

Then afcourse a fair deal of performers that I enjoy in Viva, but not too sure of the names. I am yet to be fully in sync with all the names. Also I have not really listened to any records as such as when I finally get some time over weekends, I am listening to my rather huge english collection from yesteryears...

Life / Bollywood in Poland [32]

The larger than life stories of bollywood are mainly targeted at the mass of Indian population whose only entertainment is movies. Those who struggle for a basic existance, often have no source or mean for fun other than bollywood. Those 2-3 hours in the cinema, they forget all about their surrondings of abject poverty and lose themselves in a world of idealism, fantasy and pure entertainment. This is the reason many of the movies are called masala movies as they include the 'spices' love, relations, music, dancing, fighting and so on.

However these days there are movies from bollywood aimed at the middle class english speaking Indians. Many of these movies in english are of much higher standard and mostly in lines to the mainstream european movies.. or as it once existed. This may not be directly classified as bollywood, but are produced by the same production companies.
