Life / Polish Hip Hop [47]

Rock 'n roll was invented for people who could hardly sing.
Hip hop is for people who cannot sing at all.

Now, arguing who is better at not being able to sing at all is kinda funny.

USA, Canada / Polish Citizen, US legal resident, but no Polish Passport... [67]

(there are many Poles that have both Polish and US passport and they travel on the US one for some reason).

The reason is simple:
In Poland the US passport is not valid for Polish citizens.
In order to go back to the US Poles need some sort of document - a visa or a US passport. Polish passport won't do.

Life / Polish dubbing in movies; why is it so that on polish television all the films are dubbed? [135]

hu_man, those prerecorded dubs are annoying and I never liked them. Still, it could be worse. The dubs could be live.

Years ago there would have what they called "Confrontations", a festival of foreign movies. They played the newest and the best ones (according to someone) and the movies were so new they didn't even have time to dub them. Instead they would hire interpreters/lectors who were reading the text live. Yup, they sat in the front row with a little night lamp and a stack of paper and they were reading as the movie progressed. Sometimes it seemed they didn;t even speak the language of the particular movie.

I remember watching "Hair". The guy was so out of sync with the movie that the dialogs made no sense whatsoever, and I couldn't hear the original sound track.

I don't like faworki/chruściki... too dry

There must be either something wrong with the recipe, or they are not stored properly. They shouldn't be really dry.

News / 10,000 ISRAELIS READY TO CLAIM FOR POLISH CITIZENSHIP AND POLISH LAND! [628]

was only called "palestine" when the british took over after WWI.

The name "Palestine" dates back to 5 century BC (Greek: Palaistine) and comprised the whole coastal area in the region, regardles who inhabitted them. Ever heard about Philistines? :))

The arab controlled west bank and gaza were never set up as a palestinian state but were occupied by Jordan and Egypt.

Do you think that justifies the expulsion of some 700,000 Palestinians into refugee camps? Do you think that would justify the abolition of the Ukrainian state/ After all they had never been a country before late 20th century.

We did not take a country away from the palestinians. They never had one.

But they had land, homes, lives.
Do these count only if there is a flag and a government? Jews did not have a country for nearly 2000 years. And even the one they had they acquired as a result of conquest and extermination of other peoples and cultures. Would that make Jews worthy of expulsions to refugee camps, or ghettos, if you will?

History / Whom do the people in Poland hate more: Germans or Russians? [869]

Germany was never Polands friend...we never broke a treaty or a promise to you

Wrong.
Germany unilaterally broke the German-Polish Non-Aggression Pact, signed for a period of 10 years in 1934.

In a recent Poll they asked the Germans whom of their neighbours they liked most...now guess where Poland ended...yup...way down at the bottom!

I would be shocked if the results of the poll were different. After all, 1000 years of hatred won't be changed within just a few decades.

History / Whom do the people in Poland hate more: Germans or Russians? [869]

Hehe...reminds me about the polish loudmouths before '39..."In one week in Berlin!"
Polish overestimation...like always!

Sure it took more than a week and yet the Polish flag flew over Berlin.

So what was that German fairy tale about? The 1000 Jahre Reich?
What a gross overestimation!

You also overestimate yourself, keyboard warrior. "Tutons", haha :))

I think that most Poles really don't know Russians and their opinion is based on media

No miranda. Media tried to tell us Russians love us. We know Russians. They were in Poland. They occupied Poland. The relationship hasn;t been rosy for a few centuries now. Did you forget?

It is polishforums.com . not Ukrianinan.

You were the frst to mention the word Ukrainian in this thread. If you write something, especially a lie or half-truths, expect responses.

dear Poles do you remember WWII and Ukrianians serving Germans... we punished them :) ?

Did you also punish yourself for Russian co-operation with the Nazis and for Soviet attack on Poland, and for plans to exterminate the Polish nation in co-operation with krauts?

Poles have always had to deal with these barbarian Kossaks. That will never change.

Don't forget that those "barbarian Kossaks" were Ukrainian equivalents of Polish freedom fighters in 1831 and 1863. Poland occupied Ukrainian lands. This is not a popular topic in Poland but the fact remains that Poles were the occupying country.

No my friend.

I'm not your friend.

The savages that lived there didn't know when they were conquered. Poland was doing all of them a favour by spreading their civilized ways to these people.

This sounds very similar to WW2 Nazi propaganda against Poland.

o, simply because that land was never German.

That's a lie.
Much of this land was German. Szczecin, for one, was never Polish. Ziemia Lubuska was sold to Germans, it was a financial transaction.

The people there were a hybrid of Poles and Russians who interbred. The end result was quite a lot of barbarians who respect nothing, and nobody, except blood.

You are one sick man. I wonder whether you are a result of interbreeding between Gestapo and KGB.

Filios1 and Celinski,

There are some issues that cannot be solved. The alleged Ukrainian oppressors are dead. At least most of them. Ukraine was not a country so their government cannot be held accountable since there the Ukrainian government's continuity is not yet 20 years old.

So what do you propose? Should we kill a few thousands, or millions of young Ukrainians and call it even? That would likely make Filios1's god happy.

Do you realize that your stance is an anachronism? It's fine to study history, but to carry over the hatred of years past into today is plain stupid and dangerous. If I were in a position to decide what to do about the Polish-Ukrainian issues I'd throw into a jail both of you, and all with views similar to yours - Poles and Ukrainians. I would then throw away the. On a good day I'd allow you to be fed.

What about a simple memorial placed in Ukraine with names.

Work on that then. Don't incite hatred and constant recalculations who owes what to who. There's gotta be a starting point ans many people reached it already. You will a be late comer.

I'm off to the kitchen. I'll be cooking Ukrainian borsch today.

And to think, you call yourself a Pole. What a disgrace.

The only disgrace I see here is your nazi style propaganda and the need to continually incite hatred. All you'll achieve will be a few bubbles of foam in your mouth produced by your uncontrollable anger. That's all. Save yourself some time and do something useful.

there is always God who will judge in the end, who is right and who is wrong.

and you have a nerve to invoke god? You offend and intire nation calling them barbarians, you live in the past filled with hatred and you have a nerve to invoke god?

Your rotten mind is beyond repair.

Not England, we saved the WORLD

You saved nobody.

Your ancestors, however, managed to convince Americans and other nations to help them out. If in 1939 with the force that Hitler used to invade Poland then the Brits would stand no chance.

At that without being attacked by the USSR at the same time.

Poles = Canon fodder
Brits = Tactical

Do you realize that over 40% of UK's military inteligence was provided by Poles? Without that the only tactic the Brits would have been able to afford would be to go beg American for help harder than they did.

The German war machine hit a brick wall in the defence of Britian, the first defeat of many.

what war machine?
Germans fought UK (and the rest of Western Europe) with one hand, and not the good one at that.

but according to you this was the winning tactic

Yes, it was but the "cannon fodder" part in WB's post applies as much to Poles as it does to Brits. And that was my point.

British tactics was indeed good at times. It is regrettable that it sucked in the years leading to WW2.

After that, tactics had little application in the opening days of WW2. What tactics do you use when your forces are just a fraction of the enemy's and the attack is sudden? The only thing Poles could do was fight, and they did. No other country, before the attack on the USSR (which had the West's help) gave this kind of resistance and inflicted that much damage to German forces as Poles in 1939.

But we did serve as a beacon light to the rest of the World.

There were millions of beacons of light all over the world. These were the people who actually fought. You saved nobody. You likely botched another business deal in Poland so you're mad and came here to spit at everything Polish. Today you even spat on your own wife.

What a pitiful little fvck you are.

as there is no longer the need for the under classes to be sent of to do battle on the front, is there not a strong argument to be made for enforced sterilisation amongst the lower classes... we no longer need them to die for us on the battle field and, in the uk at least, many of them do not want to work and are a burden on the state

I thought we were chatting about WW2, not about today.

And WTF do you know? Immigrant.

Apperently I know more than you do. Immigrant.

America got rich from WWII, England lost their empire for the greater good.

Lost their empire?
I'd rather say that many countries regained independence from England.

Like America then, the victors of WWII (in your opinion) which was a UK colony, created by US

Past glory.

Open your eyes. The year is 2008. UK is just a small country that was saved by the "little brother" at least twice in the last century. Where Americans couldn't do it Russians came in handy.

Oh and the Dutch are just saints???? What about South Africa? You guys are just the origin of apartheid.

What about South Africa?
Can you tell us about some of the efforts of the English part of the South African population who opposed apartheid in their country?

I remember that optimistic push of Brits to S.A. in search of jobs in 1970's. Few had a problem with S.A. apartheid then.

z_dariusz. USA was a UK colony the US defeated Nazism, in your words.

First, I didn't say USA defeated tha Nazism. Second, the US had been an English colony about 250 years ago. Since then is has became an independent country which svered its ties with England. They did it consciously.

UK taught America nothing. America wanted nothing to do with UK, and they even tried to change the language. German lost to English by 1 (one!!!) vote. Classical Greek was among the languages proposed. You are dwelling on glories long gone and you are trying to make it sound like USA is owing UK something. They don't. The colonists drove the English out in a military conflict. Which part of this don't you understand?

The US was created by immigrants from all over the world. Immigrants just like you and me.

The choice of language was just one part of the so called "American war for independence". This war had its significant cultural aspect. The colonists, now calling themselves Americans, changed whatever they could, and where things couldn't be changed because Americans simply didn'r have their own material (local legends and myths, for instance) they invented them. A good chunk of early American lit. was pretty much "tailored to size", so to speak. Rip Van Winkle, or Hawthoirne's novels were results of that struggle. Yup, these literary pieces had a purpose that went beyond the need to tell a story. They were designed to create a nation's sense of tradition.

The UK lost the war of independance as we did not see it economicaly viable at the time. As a result we cut off the resources: namely, finance, weapons and infantry.

Less than 100 years later Americans were buying entire European castles and transporting them back to the US brick by brick.

Yeah, the Brits sure showed them, huh? :))

z_dariusz what the hell nationality are you dawg?

I thought it was obvious. Isn't it?
