History / When will you Poles give back German land and the cities which you robbed? [557]

Can ex-Silesians vote too??? Heh:)

the un-funny thing is that is exactly how it went down originally so silesia was given to PL. starting world wars, cheating etc. just isn't working out for you guys. :)

But....what language would you speak in Silesia if you managed to make it independent?

french?

Travel / My (short) Poland experiences - bad luck? [142]

Its strange in Poland and no one smile to strangers. It's not rudeness.

right but it sure is perceived as such

I think that something had to annoyed you at the very begining of your trip and after you just have negative attidute.

that's what i am thinking too but he doesn't buy it.

Life / How can Polish immigrants complain about other immigrants? [65]

Hard to complain about Nigerians in PL

Poles can find a way. ;) :D

Huh? I am not quite getting your meaning...

can live with the jews but can also slam them when it's convenient.

I don't agree with specifically targeting Poles

Singling out Poles doesn't bother me.

this is why you got the "huh?"

I don't think I would ever go back.

that's rather sad.. you needed better "guides" from what it sounds like.. next time you do consider going back, check back in and ask for help.. folks here won't steer you wrong.. also, there are quite a few threads asking for guidance for tourists here already.

It's hard to understand Polish people if you're not Polish, we have a different mentality, being loud on the street yelling or talking loud means being trashy, you don't stop or bother someone you don't know, or stare at them.

yes but staring is rather common, like he said.

But people should smile more, it's kinda depressing looking at that, some have a look like they've just about had it with life and wanna commit suicide, their depression can make you depressed.

i agree on the smiling thing but as others have said, it is not a polish thing either.. i have that issue still and i have lived in the states for quite a long time.. people still ask me why i am pissed off.. lol.. and i hardly ever am.

Understandable, as I said, Poland is good for long visits/stays/living, not so much for short visits. It's just not that kind of place.

nothing wrong with staying for short visits but one may want to read up on PL and the local customs so one isn't all surprised..

always want more.

is there something wrong with that?

USA, Canada / PolAms -- do you regard yourselves only as 'white Americans'? [187]

Why would you consider yourself Polish, when these ethnicities have their own countries today?

because maybe "they" are polish and not one of those? how about that?

You're the idiot if you can't work out that someone who came from Russia/Prussia/Austra-Hungary didn't come from Poland, but rather one of those three countries. They might have been Polish, but they certainly didn't come from Poland unless they were born before the partitions!

it was occupied PL, you dolt

The chances of you being ethnically 100% Polish isn't very likely

wtf would a limey know about Polish ancestry.. it's rather laughable how you are senselessly arguing these points when you aren't even from PL..

Can you trace your lineage right back to the founding of the Piast dynasty? No?

that's just stupid.. nobody can trace their lineage that far even if we tried.. are you that thick, really?

I didnt give up, i am working my arse off :)

sure, glad to see ya, hon. :)

Actually they are the least likely to work at all.

aye aye arrr. :)

Foreigners in poland complain more IMO.

about PL tho

I don't agree with specifically targeting Poles on the issue as well,

huh? that's not what you say up top.. hmm.. *scratches head*

Quiet, clean, safe, nice neighbours, both unimposing and helpful in case.

ding, ding.. anti-semitism can wait if it suits one. :)

...it's not looking like it.

actually you just proved that it is.. i didn't say i didn't agree because i do but i asked you about the positives and you couldn't really come up with anything.. so, your outlook may be something you ought to look into.

£odz/Pabianice, Wrocław, Krakow

pretty friendly places.. hmm

Maybe its Teffle's culture, he comes from a country were people will go out of their way to be friendly,

even more so.. if he's from "happy" culture then one would presume he'd look for "happy" things yet he all he did was concentrated on the bad stuff. just my observation.

Try to talk to some Brits about the UK, or French about France, or Italians about Italy... shall I go on?

not really comparable.. all those you mentioned are more realistic about their countries then most poles about poland.

Life / Any treatment centres for homos in Poland? [455]

Too many people have no knowledge of homosexuality other than soem silly slogan like 'gay is OK', ignoring the diverse physical, psychological, ethical, public-health, political economic and demographic aspects of the question.

then why in the fck would you post that link?

why not actually do real service by posting something that is of real value like:

If not interested in Catholic teaching, then skip it and just deal with the facts and figures.

Are you out waving your anti-war banners today?

he's ok with killing just not buttfvcking.

Rock on.

i'm all 4 stoning, myself.. lol

Life / How can Polish immigrants complain about other immigrants? [65]

In UK it is interesting to hear established members of long-term migrant communities, like Sikhs, Indians and, to some extent, post-war Poles complaining about new influxes of migrants getting benefits they never got.

that is really what this thread is all about anyway.. bzib just wants to be right so she's picking on the one instance where MG had an issue that maybe didn't necessarily neatly fit.. this complaining by PLish immigrants about other (legal) immigrants, whether be it USA or GB, can be read throughout PF.. this one particular incident is not out of the norm at all.. and yes, i find it bizarre as hell..

the other thing about illegal immigrants: during the communist times most of poles were illegal at first anyway.. many had to sneak out of poland.. so bltching about illegal ones is also kind of two faced, if you ask me.

I'm trying not to insult but basically this has been my experience:

I don't really want to go on...

so, what did you like about PL?

History / When will you Poles give back German land and the cities which you robbed? [557]

where the hell do you get this info from? sheesh.. Wroclaw from the beginning was a Polish city.. and yes, germans occupied it for a period or two or even three but it was founded by poles and thus should be Polish.

Gdansk wasn't all german like you want all to believe at the start of the war.. why do you think the first salvo of the war was there? germans wouldn't attack their town first, would they?

What about Polish-Bolshevik war?

did PL really start that one?

Work / CV/Resume style standards in Poland [17]

For example, I have read that over 80% of job seekers include a photo of themselves on the top right-hand side of their CV. Now, doing so would be really tacky in Australia, so naturally I am hesitant. In your experience, is this true?

supposedly tacky here in the USA too but sure as heck has always worked great for me. i'd say, personalize it and make it uniquely yours. :)

Please someone tell me that racism, homophobia, sexism and general parochialism are not as rife in Poland as this site and my experiences suggest??

highly closeted.. under 30 city folks may be more open then those that r older or out in the country or smaller towns.

USA, Canada / PolAms -- do you regard yourselves only as 'white Americans'? [187]

There is no such thing as "Polish blood".

How far would you go back? Do that for a couple of generations (both father's and mother's side), and you might end up being an Irish-German-British-Polish-Russian-French-Dutch-Belgian-Martian American. This whole ethnicity concept is completely BS if you think about it.

all th epeeps in my fam tree have always lived on polish soil/territories and married only poles.. that is polish only blood

Food / WHY IN POLAND PEOPLE DON'T USE ICE? [142]

I noticed that AC in your home or car is still considered a luxury accessory in most of Europe.

most of europe isn't nearly as close to hell as oz land.. ;) there isn't really the need to condition the air.
