Life / Why are Poles always so miserable? Why do they never smile? [512]

I just think they don't smile much because thats the Polish way.........similar to France, smiles are reserved for family friends, close ones..........

In the USA smiling is for everyone...........

I don't think Polish people are any more miserable than another nation.....but they maybe have to learn to be less up tight.....be less suspicious......enjoy themselves more......

Well...its a poor reflection on USA society......when any people, race or nation is picked on.

Yes we all have our own preferences........not long ago in the 50s it was ok to put a notice up in the windows of British landladies saying...." No Blacks, dogs or Irish"

The sh1t the Irish have taken for centuries/decades has been pretty unbelieveable....used to be known at times as the negroes of Europe......

So what you do is beat them at their own game......stand up...show how able, robust, well qualified and responsible you are........be proud of your heritage..........give the sh1t right back or call their bluff and involve the law.....employers have a duty of care.......IT IS NO LONGER ACCEPTABLE TO BEHAVE IN THIS MANNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So ignore them...don't respond in the way they think you should.......

Gee...for all Polish people on the board, I am sure its all too easily remember by your grandparents etc...an awful thing for your to have had to endure.

Again...its appears that Stalin, wanted Poland....bereft of its heroes, the men/women who would stand up and fight and resist...why have to get rid of them in 6 mths time when the Germans would do most of it for them?

Why waste another Russian life to liberate Poland....if a few more Poles can take out a few more Germans?

It served both nations, that Poland, was a wasteland...weakened....unable to put up much resistance after their horrible experiences.

Decisions were taken by the big players....Poland and its people were expendable pawns to be used and abused by their big neighbours...another European tragedy.

Clink....why though do people in the US....as you appear to do, not seek verbal satisfaction......"sticks and stones will break my bnes but words will never hurt me"...so goes the rhyme....and then think that physically hurting/killing people will settle things, be the civilised way to seek redress?

Genealogy / I'm polish and have a darker complexion - WHY? [78]

i'm nearly 100% polish and a bit ukranian
but i have medium brown hair, light brown eyes, and i'm constantly tan all year round to some extent (i get very tan very easily in summer)

can anyone explain why this is?

No-one is a 100% anything.........plus darker skinned people, their genetic make-up is more dominant in any mixing, so more likely to carry through to later generations...not to every off-spring mind you......don't worry about...its Easter!

hello everyone, im an italian guy living in ireland for 6 years and I have to say that the situation here is not easy either, 150.000 poles in a country of 4.000.000
people is a outrage, and the thing to make me angry most is the use of signs for poles who doesn't speak english, as far as i remember nobody was putting signs in italian when i came over to help me interacting with people.

Evangelion, can I, as an Irishman, profusely apologise and offer you the use of my home for the remainder of your stay in Ireland to make up for the dreadful, unrequited sleight you suffered at the hands of my fellow countrymen...

I shudder to think, at how you felt as an Italian, coping bravely in the land of the most unfriendly and surly nation on earth......it must have been ever so difficult.

PS Can I ask why you've stayed for a whole 6 yrs, in this, the most dreadful of countries?
