Work / 9000 gross salary in Warsaw? [18]

@Ron2
Because I have a probationary period, I will be at a family friends till the end of the year and will have to live in zbytki/Wawer area. Will be a grind at the start but once they like me I will find a rental closer to the city centre,probably with roommates at this salary so hopefully the commute and winter doesn't kill me mentally lol

Work / 9000 gross salary in Warsaw? [18]

Will be working as an account manager in tech sales, have been laid off for a while, originally from Canada.

I will be working under "umowa u pracę", so after tax and rent I will be probably left with 6500zl netto and with rent 2400zl, I'll be at 4000zl net which I'm not sure is enough to live off, but I'm happy I at least have a job that is interesting enough for me and is technical enough as I used to work as a database administrator and developer before this role. My logic is I can then that I can then apply for other jobs with this experience?

Real Estate / Move from Canada and buy an apartment in Krakow? [22]

@jon357
I haven't, just started doing research really. I like Bronowice a lot, and I do see older flats for sale. When you mention the suburbs, which areas, outside of the highway ring?

Real Estate / Move from Canada and buy an apartment in Krakow? [22]

@jon357
Not at the moment because having family close by that can do repairs and look after the property is huge, instead of hiring a property manager

Real Estate / Move from Canada and buy an apartment in Krakow? [22]

@PolAmKrakow
Yeah I would also like to find something 20-30 minutes by tram, what site did you use to find newbuilds? We would be looking at something in that range, 50-70m2, no real preference. Do you mind pming me, have some follow up questions as well, thx

Real Estate / Move from Canada and buy an apartment in Krakow? [22]

Hi guys, I'm 29m, living in the GTA and me and my parents are thinking of buying an apartment to rent out for me so that I have some equity and a place to live on my own in this world, one day possibly moving there permanently.

We have roots in Krakow and were looking ay buying something. Including myself we have 100-300K cash to spend, are the new builds bad? Is it better to buy something 5-10 years old? Houses are too expensive which is why I'm asking about apartments, unless we buy just outside Krakow like niepolmnice or Krzeszowice but then it would be harder to rent and not a lifestyle upgrade from suburbia. They would also consider relocating for retirement and it would help get the ball rolling.

I am unemployed at the moment and it would be impossible for me to ever buy something here in Canada, as you all know. Ideally would like to make 40-60k CAD doing anything remote if even possible anymore. That would be enough to maintain the house and have 100k again by age 35 and start a family in Poland.

Real Estate / Where to look on the internet for Poland Real Estate [112]

Merged:

ee24 - Is this site a scam?

Here is the site in question - ee24.com/. A lot of the postings are in Russian and provide just a phone # as a point of contact in most cases and the prices seem 20-30% cheaper than what they should be. This has to be a scam! Thoughts?

Classifieds / Looking for a Polish (Anglo speaking) mentor in the IT industry. [3]

@pawian
Yes they usually get paid, the most common are financial mentors that have made money investing and offer their advice through a fee. It's become quite the trend over the years. I'm not talking about sponsoring, strictly advice.

However, many people have been burned thinking that paying money to someone will solve their problems or the mentor will take advantage of someone's situation and willingness to pay.

Classifieds / Looking for a Polish (Anglo speaking) mentor in the IT industry. [3]

Hi everyone, I'm a 25M male that went back to college to change my career path into Software development after going through many ups and downs in my life.

I am looking for a mentor that currently works as a developer anywhere in the world but comes from a Polish background as I would want to own property in Canada and Poland at some point in my life and build business and life connections in Poland and want to know the stipulations and someone's experiences regarding that.

I am based in the GTA area but I don't think that matters if talking on phone/skype is available. I am not sure where to look for a mentor on LinkedIn, Youtube, Facebook etc but I figured I'd post in this forum as it's polish based and someone could point me in the right direction.

I am looking for a career based mentor but also financial and personal as well. I hope I don't come across as a spam or a troll post but I have spoken and listened to people who are successful and a lot of them have mentors that have helped so it's something I'm seeking. Mentors are traditionally usually family or friends that are knowledgeable and I unfortunately don't have that.

Thanks in advance, any other advice or anecdotes is welcome.

Life / Polish-Canadian wanting to move to Poland - trying to start a new life, make friends, combat depression etc. [10]

@terri
Thank You Terri and everyone else, I really appreciate it.

I would just add as well that my family situation isn't the greatest, every side has mental illness or some addiction/homelessness. I just stay active now even though I do nothing workwise or lifewise. It just sucks where you can go weeks/months without talking to anyone, I'm not some autist too, I just avoid people because of my negative experiences living here. At least when I visited Poland, I never got the haha Nazis or you would've survived the holocaust bullshit that I got growing up. University was supposed to be a place where I could connect with lik- minded introverts but I never got that chance and realized most Canadian youth are spoiled so I want to meet people that have gone through some struggle like myself.

Life / Polish-Canadian wanting to move to Poland - trying to start a new life, make friends, combat depression etc. [10]

Hey Guys,

I am a 21 year old Polish-Canadian male that has grown up in Canada (Brampton/GTA area) for all my life and was raised polish. Speak both languages fluently and can understand Polish but have trouble writing it and speaking it in an intelligent/professional level. I just graduated with a marketing degree which wasn't my original major due to mental problems that have occurred for most of my life and in the past couple of years. Nonetheless, I am glad I got my piece of paper and didn't make my situation worse by not graduating and working some okay jobs that still gave me some experience and decent savings.

But, I've decided I've never really enjoyed living in Canada and want to move to Poland. Reason's being are:
- have ZERO close friends (bullying from age 10-high school then standard university struggles) *bullying was extreme*
- no motivation/drive due to depression & coddling parents that have made me scared to face my reality and take matters into my own hands
- poor job prospects(for me) in Canada and dating potential - I understand that it would be worse in Poland.
- high cost of living and rent/housing
- cultural standards dropping & cultural divide in Canada
(If you want details or more specifics as to what I mean, please ask)

Maybe some of you have experienced having overbearing parents or have never felt appreciated living here, but essentially I feel that I have the potential to live a second life and want to start fresh in Poland. I know that this is the cliche reason why people move but in my case I would say I need to be an environment where I don't have a voice around me saying hey don't spend money and try this or don't do some odd jobs to make income out of embarrassment.

I was wondering if there are any places where I could meet Polish-Canadians that are actually decent people or anyone that has contacts in Poland for potential employment? I am just in the process of getting my polish passport as I just received my PESEL so I would be eligible to work and live in Poland. Also, its obvious I need someone to talk to as well.

Thanks,
