Hi everyone, I'm a 25M male that went back to college to change my career path into Software development after going through many ups and downs in my life.

I am looking for a mentor that currently works as a developer anywhere in the world but comes from a Polish background as I would want to own property in Canada and Poland at some point in my life and build business and life connections in Poland and want to know the stipulations and someone's experiences regarding that.

I am based in the GTA area but I don't think that matters if talking on phone/skype is available. I am not sure where to look for a mentor on LinkedIn, Youtube, Facebook etc but I figured I'd post in this forum as it's polish based and someone could point me in the right direction.

I am looking for a career based mentor but also financial and personal as well. I hope I don't come across as a spam or a troll post but I have spoken and listened to people who are successful and a lot of them have mentors that have helped so it's something I'm seeking. Mentors are traditionally usually family or friends that are knowledgeable and I unfortunately don't have that.

Thanks in advance, any other advice or anecdotes is welcome.

That`s extremely interesting. I didn`t know there is such an institution called mentoring a stranger. Do mentors get paid for that? Is it sth like a life planner?

Or you meant sponsoring, in fact?

Yes they usually get paid, the most common are financial mentors that have made money investing and offer their advice through a fee. It's become quite the trend over the years. I'm not talking about sponsoring, strictly advice.

However, many people have been burned thinking that paying money to someone will solve their problems or the mentor will take advantage of someone's situation and willingness to pay.
