Work / How to find work in Warsaw "if u don't speak Polish" ! [176]

Then what the holy hell are you doing in Australia?!??! If you're so pro-slavic then come back to Poland and live the dream instead of leeching off of anglophone success. Hypocrite.

Like I said, you are not welcome in Poland or leeching off Polish resources. Only Slavs!!! No Germans, Jews or English please, you do not assimilate, you disrespect our culture, only a handful of westerners appreciate Poland but most act as if they already own it, wrong. This was suppose to be about finding work in Warsaw without the knowledge of Polish language. My response to you in this regard is that you should keep on brushing up on Polish language if you want to hang around in my country, but first please improve your English because pro-slavic the second part of that phrase should start with capital "S". How else are you going to consult dictionary if you don't know any language, you don't want to be illiterate all your life right? Once you learn our language I would like you to get a job because Polish people should not have to pay your dole. However, you will not be welcome in my country, Polish don't like you already.

Real Estate / Can foreigners buy land, house, or apartment in Poland? [60]

We Serbians are practically Poles.

Yes, you are welcome if you are Slavic, for, I think this way you will blend in easier than non-Slavs. I welcome all Slavs to Poland. This is better than grimacing German or American investors who only want to change our infrastructure to suit their western needs, no thanks.

I wonder if you (like Polonius) has ever actually been in Poland. No, they don't refuse to serve you just because you got in an argument once. What mohair could ever buy anything if that was the case?

I live in Poland and not only that I own properties in my country and I guess what, I will not rent those out to foreigners. My properties will always be passed on within family and any proceeds will be carefully dispersed among persons from strictly Polish or Slavic background, so you stand no chance. And I congratulate to all Polish living in Poland and abroad who stand up for Poland, keep at it and ignore all those who wanat to bring us down anyway they can including Polish traitors and sprzedawczyki.

Well said! I agree. Polish people tend to love the _idea_ of politeness but often in the heat of the moment prefer displays of aggression.

Then what are you doing on this forum? Go away or we will use our aggression on you, nick off back to your western wasteland.

Taking comments out of context is western specialty as is media manipulation, everyone will read my comment and then yours and you have achieved big nothing.

The good news is that it's okay to answer in kind, if the salesgirl seems to be making fun of you learn a few insults in Polish (or mini-rants) and practice them until you can toss them off fluently.

Even better news is that when you toss your insults you won't be served in that place anymore and this the best news ever, but wait! There is the bestest news of all, while you will not be charged for insults as you would be in good old England, for instance, you will deal with shop keeper's friends (usually male) who will be more than happy to show some kindness of their own towards a tosser from foreign land who harasses Polish shop keepers, especially female ones.

News / Polish Minister of Agriculture stops foreign land-grab in Poland [24]

Some 200,000 hectares of Polish agrticultural land has been sold to foreign speculators through the use of Polish "słupy" (frontmen).

It boils my blood but it's true, Polish farm land is in the hands of many foreigners who will do with it who knows what, I would urge Polish people not to buy from farmers owning those farms and to only buy from Polish farm owners. Great move by Krzysztof Jurgiel, finally, I was counting on that as PiS has always stood up for farmers but not always executed its promises.

And so if a Pole comes to the US and speaks (usually!!) bad to horrible English, the shopkeeper should then switch to Polish???!

Firstly, do not refer to Polish people as Poles, you can do that in Britain where it is fair but not on this forum, it is offensive to us Polish people, full stop. Secondly, what are you writing about???? I never wrote that shop keepers or anyone else in Poland in response to hearing broken Polish should answer in English, are you trying deliberately to provoke me into calling you something? Because you deserve to be called "the not so bright" but in a more direct manner. And your weak attempt at making fun of Polish speaking broken English is as low as it gets and again not very bright, for, in Poland there are many people who are able to speak English to foreigners, but In USA you would have to look with a candle for an American who can communicate in Polish, we are more open minded and more educated so do not make fun of our English because next to you westerners we stand too tall for you to reach and I'm not riding a high horse, it is a statement of fact, we are on average better educated than you westerners, so it is ridiculous trying to make fun of us, first show us how clever you are, I am still waiting.

You seem to have a problem understanding the point I am making, I will write it as simple as possible: In Poland nobody has to be polite to anybody for speaking broken Polish, if you speak badly then too bad, your problem, you have to fix it, and you will be reprimanded, you understand? However, in Poland a foreigner receives a lot of concessions when studying in Polish schools and is treated with more compassion by teaching stuff due to having to struggle with the language, whereas in The West nobody makes any concessions for foreign students, assignments and exams have to be done to the same standards by foreigners as they are done by the locals. In Poland if a foreigner struggles the teachers help out not by sending the student to special skills classes but by closing an eye to some of the mistakes made by the foreigner. Which society would you like to be a foreigner in?

People! Learn to read what I write, firstly Lyzko I understood Webcot perfectly, the shop keepers (and won't matter if they are male or female ha ha) understood Webcot but his Polish must have had some fundamental errors and so some of them ridiculed him for that, same as they would ridicule anyone else. If it was know that he just arrived in Poland then nobody would be laughing at his Polish but it is not known to those shop keepers, what is known to them is his broken Polish and in Poland you have to communicate properly or you will be reprimanded in some way as former president Komorowski and his equally intelligent wife have been for their "bul". Webcot, you are not even a president. Swallow it and take it like a man, and keep learning Polish as best as you can, if you can't do any better, then it's fine, at least you are trying but get use to the attitude from time to time because of your inadequate Polish and know that mostly, this attitude, is due to the sheer fact that your Polish is bad not because you are a foreigner. Have I made it clear or you are going to keep crying about it and blaming everyone under the sun for your shortcomings?

News / US air base to be in Poland [193]

They've just elected a government that very clearly does want a US presence here.

Don't turn cat on its tail, the newly elected government was not elected because of the US air base he he he, we are concerned more now about internal affairs and PiS offers better options in that regard, whereas foreign policy is at the moment a peripheral issue for most Polish people, "put a bread on the table" is what Polish people want.

And Poland turned itself into a unicorn sanctuary is a lot more likely to happen than Poland leaving NATO and the EU in order to form a close alliance with the backwards parts of Europe.

The backward parts of Europe consist of regions such as Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain, France and all of the other Western European countries. Why is that, one may ask, it is so because the system these countries are run by is a system that can sustain itself socially and morally as well as economically. It is a backward system. The West will eat itself, let's not let it it us, Polish, Serbians, Russians - the last of the true Europeans.

Real Estate / BEST Poland's city to Invest in?? Warsaw, Wroclaw, Krakow, Poznan, Gdansk or...? [34]

Poland is free for foreigners to invest in, and we - the people of Poland - (not Australians masquerading as Poles online) welcome foreign investment.

We? You do not represent anything Polish and you are making me laugh at how foreign you sound already, I do not care if you were born in my country or spend there 100 years, you are a foreigner with egotistical western views and Poland does not need people like you, you should not be speaking on my country's behalf, for, Poland is not your country.

By the way, stop repeating yourself about Australia, is that all you have? So many people tried to figure out where I am it made them look ridiculous. they actually read and examined all of my comments and not only my ones ha ha, I had no idea it was so important to many of you, but I understand now that small people have to be preoccupied by small things.

Back on topic please

Real Estate / BEST Poland's city to Invest in?? Warsaw, Wroclaw, Krakow, Poznan, Gdansk or...? [34]

Sorry, but we're going to keep on buying up Poland and using it for our own purposes. What's better is that you can't do anything about it.

This is where you are mistaken, I can do a whole lot about it and if I am determined enough you will be one to know exactly what I mean by it. You are stomping on risky ground here, my country is not a buying and selling market for foreigners, our land is sacred and will be defended likewise. Encroachment of foreign ownership and foreign methods is viewed by many as a hostile move. This especially when one throws in a comment about western ways being needed badly in many areas of Poland, hmmm... western ego and superiority will be it's downfall, be careful how structure your comments and more importantly be careful how you treat my country, for it is not your country but my country and you are required to assimilate or look for another place, your western or other ways are not welcome here and the only reason that we tend to adopt a lot of western ways is because we have the inferiority syndrome of the poor sister of the West, but we also have something else that let's us counteract this syndrome and that is something westerners are not ready for.

Delfiandomine:

I know who you are.

I know my country better than most people on this forum, I am the heart and soul of Poland. I will not be silenced by a foreigner such as yourself who does not have Poland's best interest at heart. You do not understand Polish suffering so do come here and tell me what I can say and what I can't say in regards to Polish matter, foreigners, especially western ones are the last ones who can take charge in conversations about Poland. The real Polish are sentimental towards Poland, you are not, your post explains it.

Boxena:

Unless you are of strong Slavic background with understanding and full respect for Polish ways of behaving and doing things and unless you are completely wiling to only accept Polish ways of doing business and ways of treating people then you should not be investing in Poland.

Work / How to find work in Warsaw "if u don't speak Polish" ! [176]

I've now learned that when I'm speaking to somebody who I'm less than sure actually does understand the English that they are trying to speak that it's best to say what I want to say in both English and Polish.

For English lessons we have schools for that in Poland which actually teach us proper English not the playground version delivered by the feeble spoken majority of foreigners usually from Anglo-Saxon countries (for example, the English people). This is a fact, most English language speakers from countries where English is the main operational language do not speak proper English, education in most of the West is really low and those westerners can not write or speak properly in their own language, I do not want Polish people to be learning wrong English. Also, in our country we would like to see foreigners make a real continuous effort to learn Polish instead of relying on Polish person's eagerness to capitalise on English language skills learned at school but not yet tested in practice.

Mafketis... I am trying to speak Polish, I am English.

You are just feeling sorry for yourself because you realised that In Poland people will not always bow to you just because you are a foreigner from the West. You expect everywhere for the people to be gentle, tolerant and understanding in regards to your broken Polish, well, in my country we criticise other Polish people for making a slightest mistake in Polish and you expect to be treated even better than Polish? Next time you come to live in a foreign country it would be good to learn a bit about that country's culture. Be happy that in shops ( and I bet it is not every shop Your Highness) they are pulling a face, because if a Polish person spoke like you there would be more than just face pulling. Learn better Polish Your Highness, keep at it and stop thinking that Poland owes you something, you have to make an effort to fit it and large part of it is learning the language and being more of man about it, adopt more mature approach, man up!

News / US air base to be in Poland [193]

Sikorski is the people, chosen by the people to speak for the people ;)

Sikorski is not the people (I do not know what species he is but definitely not homo sapiens) and luckily no longer foreign minister. He has been chosen by some people, the rest was a corrupt vote (but we can debate that, only hard to in Poland where corruption is vast). Sikorski may have also been chosen to speak for the people but no to have a free hand in all decisions. The decision to have US air base in Poland is not what Polish society, at large, desires at all.

Real Estate / BEST Poland's city to Invest in?? Warsaw, Wroclaw, Krakow, Poznan, Gdansk or...? [34]

I could certainly help you there as I know that market reasonably well but I will not, because you are not Polish. You see when foreigners buy property in Poland they bring with them their rules regarding business matters in this area and I would hate to see more Polish people having to deal with some weird new rules (e.g.: no pets allowed) or having been evicted from their home because a foreign property owner has been harsh and kicked them out due to reasons unknown in Polish culture. Not to mention, we have already been told in the past by Jews this very famous phrase: "Your streets, our buildings" (Wasze ulice, nasze Kamienice), and we certainly do no want a repeat of that.

hi evryone

What did you expect coming to Poland? Not only you should learn Polish, you should also educate yourself too or learn a trade and better be good at it and only then you may have a chance and that is how it should be. You seem to think that everyone should give you a job when Polish people - some having done two degrees- can not find a job and you think you can? Without even knowledge of Polish language??? To me you are either not the smartest of people or you are very delusional.

Life / Famous Polish people (that we have actually heard of) [224]

Chopin
Copernicus
Polanski

Chopin was not half French, his dad was French which only means he had a French background. His mum was Polish, she even converted to Catholicism, she was a Polish Jew but she felt as none other than Polish. Chopin was Polish. My only disappointment with him was that he never dedicated a one composition to Poland or anything Polish. However, he was Polish.

Copernicus was also Polish, he was born to Polish dad and German mum, which only means he had a mixed ethnic background. He was born in territories belonging temporarily to Germany where Polish community believed it was still Poland under German siege (the city of Torun) - Polish never truly gave it up and Copernicus considered himself Polish.

Polanski was born in France but as a three year old moved to Poland. His ethnicity is a strange one, he never said that he is Polish, Jews consider him to be Jewish and many Polish think so too, he also appears to be more interested in France. He does not show any affiliation with Poland other than some film or business related activities. I consider him to be Jewish with French affiliation.

So Grzechu, you are right only in the last instance, for, two out of three are Polish, one is a Jew.

Life / What do Polish people think of the Asia and Middle East? [86]

Most Polish are not racist, the great majority is not, we are one of the friendliest and most tolerant nations there are on the planet as far as treatment of other nationalities is concerned. There are not many nations like our one when it comes to tolerance and hospitality towards a stranger. However, Asians are not the friendliest or most helpful of people. They are more loyal to each other than us Polish people, they are helpful to one another but not to other nationalities nor are they tolerant or hospitable to others, at least not the way Polish people are. I have met many Asians throughout my life and this is the reoccurring issue - lack of consideration for other nations.

Language / "Poles" or "Polish people" - which is better to use? [200]

I've never heard anyone say that, and frankly it says more about you than the word. Does a Finn, a Turk, a Kurd, a Jew, a Breton or a Basque say the English language word for them is offensive?

I am not interested in how other nationalities feel about their nationality being verbally abbreviated in this way, I am referring to how Polish people and I, as a Polish person myself, may find such word offensive even if it was not intended to offend.

News / Roman Polanski accused of unlawful sex with a minor [403]

And just what kind of sentence do you get for raping and sodomizing a thirteen year old girl in Poland ?

Surely not some lame 90 days. Those defending Polanski ought to be kicked out of here. He used his celebrity status to seduce a minor, and he knew very well what her age was. At the age of 16 the brain is still developing, even at 24 it is in many cases in process of growing, and so Polanski abused the girl's right to be left alone. The age difference between the two is also an issue (Polanski in his 30s) as the much older person holds a certain psychological advantage over the much younger person and can, therefore, manipulate the latter into behaving or thinking certain way.

Language / "Poles" or "Polish people" - which is better to use? [200]

The term "Pole" is derogatory to me and many other Polish people I know but it is not meant to offend or belittle anyone because westerners use a lot of colloquial terms in every day life as well as in some formal media outlets. In Britain, for instance, even in the media the British tend to, sometimes, refer to themselves as "Brits". So in British culture to say "Pole" is not meant to offend a Polish person. In general, westerners use abbreviations and informal terms much more often than Polish people and they use them in formal settings to a some extent as well, whereas Polish people almost never do that in similar circumstances.

I personally prefer to hear "Polish people" rather than "Poles" though - it sounds more respectful and proper to me.

News / Roman Polanski accused of unlawful sex with a minor [403]

Insane? You went too far. Yes, you are right in that crimes should be tried in countries they were committed in but Polanski is Polish and we could have a case in making him stand trial in Poland. The reason why I would like him to be tried in Poland is that Polish judicial system is better than American, Polish have judges deciding trials not some street collected group of a handful of people from the community of thousands or millions that is said to represent that community, how ridiculous. It is a mockery anyway, because in US system it is the judge who ultimately decides the case, but only judge is in charge whereas in Poland it is a number of judges making the decision making less bias and more informative than in USA.

Life / Famous Polish people (that we have actually heard of) [224]

And many times poles have posted the names of obscure famous Polish people who are famous only to Poles.

Those obscure famous Polish people, as you nicely put it, are famous only to us Polish, that's correct but it seems it is a tragedy for you, because they are only famous in some Poland not in USA or Germany - the "important" countries. I feel for you. However, you should direct your complaint to your western educators who failed to recognise the worth of those great Polish folks who have contributed to Polish state in one way or the other and whose contributions would have been appreciated by other nations if only western world was not so shallow and took interest in other cultures and for once adopted less egotistical view when reviewing achievements of Eastern Europeans.

And some Polish were defending him, where is this US citizen's defence and why aren't you crying bloody murder for Polanski?

Those Polish who are defending him do not represent Polish population, they are in minority, usually it is Polish Jews who are defending him. The majority of Polish people are disgusted with him. I would like to see him stand at a trail in Poland.

Love / Polish girls vs Ukrainian girls: Who do you think is hotter? [152]

Western foreigners can only dream on about Polish or Ukrainian girls. The only reason smart Polish or Ukrainian woman would be vaguely interested in the man from the West is because he was rich. There is nothing wrong with that, women want security and at times a Polish men and I'd say Ukrainian men can not offer that, so the women may be inclined to take the opportunity and accept advances from a westerner, but it is not because he is a "better" man, just his pockets offer more financially secure lifestyle, that is all. So whether one is hotter than the other it does not matter, they do not want you westerners, they just need your money for survival and even despite that, those women still reject most western men hahaha, who think get the surprise of their lives hehe.

Life / Polish culture versus rotten West [279]

The thread is not about the welfare but about culture. Capitalism gives birth to behaviours that are inhumane and unnatural. In capitalist system customer service personnel will smile to you from ear to ear so that you come back to the same shop again and again (fake smile, fake pleasantries), the advertisement for shampoo will claim to have the best product just to sell it, promoters learn to manipulate the audience into buying the product, manipulation upon manipulation. The doctor will allow a pregnant woman (at the risk of loosing a child) to compete in sporting events due to pressure from feminist groups but more so from sporting promoters, coaches and sponsors wanting that female player on the field because her skills will generate financial gains for the team and ultimately other share holders. And so on and on, I have more but that's for later.

The West tries to fight Catholic Church as it is the last stronghold against the western wave of complete social and cultural demise, I am glad it is losing the fight, at least in Poland.

Yep, but some people on this forum don't want Poland to be patriotic, they would like to see it completely disntegrated and divided with chaos all around. Enemies of Poland hate Polish patriotism, are scared of united and stronger Poland; the more they complain here the better is Polish patriotism operating, great to hear some enemies of Poland complaining about Its patriotism, Poland is finally waking up.

Law / Starting a business in Poland as a Norwegian (EU) citizen - without a work permit or Polish citizenship [19]

@NPBusiness
I hope you will struggle as much as possible, too many westerners come to Poland, set a business, use and abuse Polish law and cash in as a result. I hope that in the end you will not be able to do any business in Poland, we don't need more sharks in our country. Unfortunately, this is only my dream, for, in Poland a foreign businessmen has a lot of freedom of manouver.
