Can you explain that?

Possibly Admin was working on something at the time. It's alive and kicking though. :)

Good post Miranda, but one thing:

The Translation section is no longer active

It's alive and well and has never been inactive. :)

I wonder if you can still get that perfume.

But there but have been women who fort for the resistence who are a house hold name in Poland.

I kind of thought you were after something like that but I can't think of anyone at the moment. Helena sprang into mind when I read "famous" and of course "iconic" made me think of Marie Curie but I see Grzegorz already posted a link about her. :)

Helena Rubinstein, cosmetics, born in Krakow and eventually became Elizabeth Arden's biggest rival. She made millions and her cosmetics are still a world best seller.

Sorry I don't know too much more about her off the top of my head. If you google her there will be plenty about her. :)

Thanks Vincent. :) Actually I am surprised by how well I did in that round, if you recall in the Euro 2008 threads my predictions were awful! ;) Maybe I will be there in the next round. :)

Vincent, you did a great job of being guest writer in the omnibus edition. :) Perhaps you and szarlotka could share the task in future? :)

Me being joint 2nd in the football thread is a temporary glitch and be assured that after the next round of matches order will be restored and I'll be languishing in about 10th place if not lower. ;) Unless I do my homework properly and knock jbman flying from the top! :)

The next guest contributor to the PF Omnibus? Who knows? ;)

Lukasz, what now? This the OT section, so it's expected that discussion will not be about POLAND.

Well, he said it was a "guest" but if that person remains anonymous then the post goes under szarlotka's name. He then ends up putting up with whatever is said about that post.

If it appeared under his name...he wrote it. He didn't attribute it to anyone else.

Good because there were none. Who knows why they stayed together? Some of them didn't as the first picture shows.

They were quite difficult and it took me a while but I wanted to cook them because I liked the idea of them. I'm glad they look good, thanks. :) I didn't look at any pictures of them until after I cooked (and eaten some of) them. It was a good way to spend a rainy Friday afternoon. :)

and yes, i love to taste every kind of food...

So do I which is why I have started trying to cook some Polish dishes now. I have a few ideas of what my next experiment might be! :)

I am starving hungry now :)

I do apologise. :) I waited until after I'd eaten tonight before I posted this thread :)

Seems like a good idea. Someone else told me to fry them a little or grill them. I think oven is better though. :)

I'll post more pictures when I make more. So I hope to see a few other pictures on here ;)

Thanks. They turned out better than what I expected. :)

Yummy sauce too , how did you make the sauce ?

It's a bit of a "PD style" sauce but it's similar to

this one here. I didn't use bacon, cheese or the mushrooms though. :)

Food / Polish food in Pictures. [277]

Last week, on a rainy Friday I decided to cook gołąbki for the very first time. :) The result was pretty good and got the thumbs up from my Polish friends. I used too much rice (I never can measure it right) and they could have been wrapped tighter! I also made a tomato sauce when I would have preferred a mushroom one. :) Next I'll try to make them without meat for a friend who is vegetarian.

I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread for people to post pictures of the Polish food they cooked so please share your culinary talents with us! :)

So I thought I would share my gołąbki with you...

  • Just out the oven!

  • Almost ready to eat...

  • Too much sauce!

UK, Ireland / A collection of noimmigration's threads or "STAY AWAY from BRITAIN" [978]

didnt seem clear who they were targeting

It doesn't seem clear but the whole things stems from immigrants outside of the EU. I was listening to something about this on the radio this morning.

noimmigration - the reason they want a cap in Scotland is because of the rapid growth in population and they've made a forward prediction. It's more about the future rather than the here and now. Right now we do need the immigrant population.

UK, Ireland / A collection of noimmigration's threads or "STAY AWAY from BRITAIN" [978]

Well, there is already an entire thread dedicated to Poland's geographical position within Europe so we don't need to turn this thread into one. ;)

Yes, independent jewellers, like most independent retailers carry their stock in their cars and vans in order to transport from wherever they have purchased their stock from. Not everything is delivered to them. Whether or not their insurance covers this I do not know, I would be surprised if it did but there might some loop hole.

noimmigration, as the article clearly states there is no ID to these attackers other than they are "Eastern European" so if you feel strongly enough that they are Polish then perhaps you'd like to go undercover on the streets of Glasgow and prove this point to us once and for all. If not, then accept that the real identity of these thieves is not known.

I have been doing research

You might want to do a bit more research into PolishForums then and realise that for one, if you are posting about Polish in the USA, you wouldn't post it in Polonia - UK & Ireland...

And if you consider this statement

i once heard someone say that the poles are the mexicans of europe

as meaning the whole of America then you need to get your world map out and just check the size of the USA.

It can be done!

At a basic level yes. Don't expect miracles masks98, don't get frustrated and be prepared to put in the necessary time required and good luck (and of course you may Practice Your Polish here ;)
