Work / HELP ME FIND A JOB OTHER THAN TEACHING IN POLAND [39]

I cam and interviewed here about 18 months ago. when I went to one school in the centre for an interview I saw they taught Callan and didn't bother going in. I work for a private school in the centre. Salary is OK but I'm on umowa o dzielo which is ****.

Law / Umowa O Dzielo and ZUS [3]

I am looking into paying ZUS. I understand the UK (where I'm from) has a bilateral agreement with Poland. I have been working as a native teacher for nearly 18 months at a private language school in the centre. I am getting used to the low standard of living and irregular hours. The most I have received net is just under 5k zl a month and the lowest 1.5k zl. I was wondering how you go about this as I am on umowa o dzielo and keep spanking money on the doctors here. Also the contributions count towards the UK pensions. I understand I can set up a company and pay the reduced rate for 2 years of around 330zl but after this it rockets to around 900zl. I live in Warsaw and do not receive accomodation in my package.

Language / Useful tips on learning Polish? [25]

Get lessons. I have lessons in Warsaw 300zl for 3 months. Also do a language exchange. If you live in the UK this is possible and obviously in Poland too. Declination is a beeatch and this is what messes with my head.

UK, Ireland / WHAT IS IT ABOUT POLISH PEOPLE THAT MAKES THEM THINK THAT UK WANTS THEM? [309]

The initial comment about wanting the UK for English speakers is quite funny as most intermmediate Polish students have a better grasp of English grammar than half of the UK. On wanting the UK for British people if you go back far enough most of us are immigrants through association so it is a stupid arguement in my opinion. Yes there are people who work illegally in every country but people who spend their life on benefits are more of a problem. There is a national minimum wage which means if everything is legal they are obeying laws and contributing to the state. there is no law to prevent 5 people sharing a flat.

Study / Top Language Schools to Work for in Warsaw? [32]

This is a bit of a scam

This is what I do. I teach the class 6 lessons every course. I am Celta qualified as are all the natives. The Polish teachers all have degree qualifications in philology. We can also teach as lead teachers and i do so on some business courses. We are regularly observed and given feed back. Rarely a teacher is asked to leave/leaves at the end of their contract if they are observed not to be teaching well. Students also grade their teachers.

Life / Favourite Polish movies? [107]

Seksmisja, Rejs, Symetria, Ciało, Anioł w Krakowie, Vinci, Dług

Seksmisja is great as is Dlug but Cialo is average. Like a very poor version of snatch.

More frequent is a Polish lead teacher. In company it is more frequent native. Methodologists do the observations. I know it's standard but lots of schools don't do this. when I interviewed I was interviewed before having to teach a trial lesson. This isn't standard although it should be.

What is a school expection? Methodologists are not native but I am surprised with most of the teachers' lvel of English. I mistook 3 teachers as natives and was asking them where in the UK/states they were from.

Life / Realistic grocery budget for a family of three in Warsaw? [20]

The most expensive thing is clothing. Make sure you won't need to buy anything whilst you're here. I still buy all my clothes in the UK. I bought a timberland coat and shirt at home and saw the identical ones here too for 5 times the price. Same thing with trainers/sneakers. Also don't expect the variety of food or quality that you get in the States. It's hard to fin good Chinese/mexican/Indian food that is value for money.

News / New budget airport for Warsaw to open in 2012 [16]

I'm sick of budget airlines. It took us longer to travel from central London to Stanstead Airport than fly to Poland.

Then don't fly with them. Book with BA instead. A very stupid comment.
