Life / Why are Polish people so obsessed with race? [160]

Polish seem to be obsessed with peoples race

I lived in Poland for a while and I can't confirm what you're saying. Sure, you'll always find someone who makes dumb comments but generally saying, I haven't met many Poles who talked about it but let's be honest, you didn't create this thread to discuss it, you created it to stir up some bs because you're bored ;-) I'm not saying, there's no racism in Poland but majority of those who hate other races, do it quietly, just like anywhere else.

USA, Canada / Only one county in the USA has more Polish-Americans than any other group! [38]

I assure you that most people gave their country of origin for the ship's manifest and when asked by the immigration officers at Ellis Island, not their ethnicity

you can't assure me TO but I respect your opinion ;-) Again TO, self-reported means, nobody told them what to say, they self-reported who they are, end of story. Really no need to argue, man. It is what it is. No matter how long we'll continue talking about it, nothing will change it anyway.

You know as well as I do that ....

When people arrived here, they were asked about their nationality and they freely (self-reported) said who they are. There was absolutely no reason for them to say they're Germans if they felt Polish and the other way around, especially knowing how they feel/felt about each other.

Correct. Looking at the article now, I believe that the folks at the Daily Mail mixed up ethnicity and citizenship somewhat.

Most Americans I know define themselves by the country their ancestors emigrated from by the way.

hello, I know you're a smart guy TO and understand what self-reported means.

USA, Canada / Better life in USA or Canada? - expats opinions and your comparison [143]

I'd rather wear gloves and parkas for a few months out of the year then have my house ripped up by atornado!

so anywhere you live in the US, you have that problem, Chanti??? (I hope for you, you say no because it's a total nonsense).

News / More cars in Poland than America? [29]

Same in Poland and everywhere else in Europe. So it doesn't affect the statistics by much.

I live in a small town (4500 people) and I see more cars over here than I saw in Radzyn Podlaski with its 17k people or many other small towns I visited in Poland. I understand, you really want to believe your statistics but either they have a different way of counting cars or they're wrong, simple as that.

Just like Meathead said above: "You don't understand tax law in the states. Very many people (me included) have small businesses and if we use the car for business it can be depreciated for reducing our taxes. The best selling vehicles in the US are pick up trucks which most have four doors and are operated like a sedan. I also own four other vehicles, my wife has one and my son has another. So for a family of three we have six vehicles. This situation is not unusual."

News / More cars in Poland than America? [29]

commercial vehicles - such as trucks and taxicabs, registered to companies - are included.

and I believe that you guys see our pick up trucks and SUV's as commercial (which are very often privately owned and operated here) and that's what makes the difference.

News / More cars in Poland than America? [29]

The 797 per capita in the USA included vans, SUVs, pickups, all-terrain and commercial vehicles.

yeah, whatever is on the road, I guess (not sure about commercial, though).

More cars in Poland than America???

486 (according to OP's PL link) in Poland and 797 in the US, so unless I overlooked something, we have more cars per capita in the US than in Poland

Life / Polish disco-polo music makes comeback in Poland [20]

I 'm not gonna tell Poles what's good for them. I don't know what PIS stands for but as long as they oppose globalism (one country, one gov, one everything) and don't tell people when to eat, sleep and sh/t, I'm fine with it.

UK, Ireland / UK Polonia protesting v German TV series [65]

Rarely? You may wish to note what actually happens in the story: the AK do not harm the Jews, they simply do not help the Jews. That was the norm.

I'll let you continue this fight with our Polish friends on PF. Not gonna pursue finding out the truth on here, whatsoever.

You've answered your one leading question. If most were not virulatnetly anti-Semitic, then why highlight only that one minority view as the one thing the unseasoned viewer will come away with?

OK, you do have a point. It would be more appropriate to show more common actions of the AK and not something that happened rather rarely.
