History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [901]

our soldiers

Our (as in American?) soldiers saved your butts (as in Polish?).
Are you kidding me?
You only helped Western Europeans NOT Eastern Europeans.

After seeing what kind of bs we're getting from all of you in Europe, I wish, we would have never joined that freaking war. Our soldiers died for a bunch of ungrateful Europeans.

I am in Canada.
Western Europeans are grateful for what Americans did.
Eastern Europeans have no reason to.

You "dislike" Stalin and the Soviets? You should hate them, do you know how many Poles they killed? and what they did to your country?

I know that Stalin killed tens of millions. And perhaps million of Poles. He and Hitler I dont like.
But I dont like America either. Im not hiding anything.

There's a reason why Poland fell so easily into the clutches of Communism.

Fair enough.

An American and Brit telling us its all Russian and German fault and that
America and Britain are "innocent" in their minds. "Great" Polish allies.

Any Polish patriot would never, ever, ever agree with Soviet propaganda under any circumstance.

You know that based on 38,000,000+ people?
I dislike Stalin and Soviets but I think you generalize too much in this case.

therefore Brits and French have Polish blood on their hands for more than 67 years now...

I completely agree.
It baffles me why Poland is allied to them now AGAIN.
You'd think the leaders in the country would learn something from history.

And even the president from USA at the time (was it Roosevelt?) is too blame too especially closer to the end of the war.

England helped itself to Polish gold stored in Canada after ww2 to make sure Poland paid for everything that Polish army received.

Hmm interesting. Do you have a link for this maybe?

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1080]

Nice map crochet88, although England will be Pakistan Jr., France Islamic Republic, and Germany New Turkey.

I am Polish, Monia, and very happy to be.

I agree for the most part.
I think I said earlier that I am okay with Central or Eastern European though.

History / Churchill and Poland [121]

Citizen is right in that paragraph, nothing to be shamed about. But it is offtopic.

"Churchill alone pushed for free elections in Poland.[9] The British leader pointed out that the U.K. "could never be content with any solution that did not leave Poland a free and independent state". Stalin pledged to permit free elections in Poland, but forestalled ever honoring his promise."

His actions say otherwise.

Firstly Im only representing myself. Dont let my views influence you too much of what you think of Canada lol.

I would guess the biggest complaint Canadians have with USA is its foreign policy.

I'll leave links for you...

News / Czechs most liked by Poles! [35]

Very interesting.
The English one surprised me a bit. I would guess the reason is because many Poles are in Britain and are more aware of the folks there.

The most controversial result is with the Americans with 43% of Poles liking them, with 21% declaring a disliking for them.

43 is a bit higher than I thought
Only 21 is less than I thought.

News / Characterizing Poland's political parties [33]

Antheads, interesting article but if there is a "network" there are members from various groups inside Poland.
Americans, Germans, Jews, and Russians. There are independent thinking Poles too.

"Clandestine penetration of the Catholic Church... Communists"
I dont understand that fully.

Some people say the Church helped in "winning" over the Communists.
Other people say the Communists send agents to Catholic Church.

With PiS, the two things I dislike are: 1) Kaczynski himself, they need a different choice in my opinion 2)their foreign policy is a bit awkward as well.

Well actually I think NATO should have died after the Wall Fell.
USA seems to like Israel more than most of the NATO countries themselves which makes one wonder.
I think new organization is needed.

Life / Do young Polish people believe in their religion and God? [155]

i dont remember liberals supporting any of the above

they support murderers, Communists (who killed more than the Nazis did), and men ****** another man while parading on the street, the destruction of family and traditions,

ethnicities and countries.
Its clear the liberals are more insane.

how many accounts to you have delphdope?

Life / Do young Polish people believe in their religion and God? [155]

I was raised Catholic in Poland and later here in Canada.

Im not a diehard religious nutjob but I feel like the idea of God/Church is important. Church needs more power to stop the extremist liberals and commies who are growing in number (the latter groups simply dont know what morals are). Nothing ****** me off more than militant commies/athiests/anarchists.

most Polish don't understand Christianity completely and don't know Bible.

Thats the typical Evangelical PROTESTANT nonsense. Evangelicals are simply hypocrites and most of them twist the Bible 100 times while ignoring big portions. I wouldnt even call most of them Christians but heretics and Israeli firsters.

Which party did/do the twin brothers belong to? They are no longer in power correct?

PiS. One is dead, the other is the main "opposition" leader from PiS.
PO is in power.

I always figured Solidarity was left-leaning since didnt they start from union workers? Wasnt Walesa in the electrical union?

Those were different times. He was electrician.

News / What should Poland do to solve the population crisis? [101]

You make a good point.

Currently its GDP nominal is rising (I think close to the fastest in Europe).

2011 (figures are in billions of dollars)
1. USA 15,076 (USA is 15 trillion, etc)
2. China 7,298
3. Japan 5,867
4. Germany 3,607
5. France 2,778
6. Brazil 2,493
7. UK 2,431
8. Italy 2,199
9. Russia 1,850
10. India 1,827

Citigroup (Feb 2011)estimated the future top 10 gdps to change.

2015
1. USA 18,247
2. China 13,118
3. Japan 5,876
4. Germany 3,886
5. India 3,358
6. France 3,047
7. Brazil 3,026
8. UK 2,885
9. Russia 2,668
10. Italy 2,414

2030
1. China 57,138
2. USA 35,739
3. India 24,824
4. Japan 9,213
5. Brazil 8,780
6. Russia 7,380
7. Indonesia 7,299
8. Germany 6,466
9. UK 5,819
10. France 5,236

As you can see Russias position changes for the better.
Their population will most probably remain the same (or lower).
As the nominal gdp increases, perhaps the gdp per capita would increase... at least one hopes.
Then living standards increase.

That is what I meant when its economy is growing nicely.

Socially, Russia hasnt been infected by the Liberal virus for the most part which is also good.

As for the gap between the wealth and poor, whatever Poland chooses should hope to solve this problem.
It happens in every country.
In USA you have billionaires and homeless, 50 million on foodstamps, etc.
Its rough everywhere.

News / What should Poland do to solve the population crisis? [101]

If Poland keeps sucking on Israeli, Americans and Germans it will become a dump.
The key is to KILL the EU organization. Throw it in the bin.

Poland should follow Japan or China in general (closed, united and for the most part homogenous). The government economic and other social policies should be similar to Russia.

Traditional values must be HEAVILY promoted (not what is now its not enough). Do not let any liberal or leftist extremist come to power or Poland might go the way of France/Britain (Pakistani/Muslim colonies).

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2810]

When it comes to guns I have mixed feelings. It depends on various factors like how safe is the neighborhood, how many people, who is living there, etc.

If I was living in the rural area I might get one. Here in Canada and the city I live its very safe.
This isnt Chicago or Detroit where some Negros or gangs will shoot you. The Pakistani/Indian population is rising though but the Poles remain one of the largest ethnicity here (hopefully the latter wont change).

If I was living in Chicago or Detroit I might consider a gun. But that WONT happen (thank God I dont live in USA, no offense to my southern neighbors, im sure there are some good neighborhoods there).

As for Poland... with its history it might be a good idea for some civilians to have guns like in Switzerland (?). The army is very small personnel wise. Sure there are advantages of professional smaller army but the extent they reduced is shocking actually. (Im assuming its 100,000 active personnel and 20,000 reserves which is less than Romania and much less than Spain a country with similar population).

Hopefully if peace stays and politicians play smart hopefully nothing bad will happen in Poland and maybe guns arent needed.

UK, Ireland / Polonization of Britain - Tipping Point Confirmed in 2011 Census [97]

I don't hate you, I find you absurd. If in Poland there was groving numbers of people that do not speak Polish, I'd be at arms, I'd demand mass deportations.

Your country is dying, and you dont care about it?

True.
Some of them are so brainwashed they think their countries are being "enriched" by third world immigrants as their own ethnicity/nation/cultures gets raped out of existence slowly.

Life / Some questions about Imieniny (Polish Name's Day) [14]

1. On wikipedia, it has a list of the names celebrated on each day. However, some names have more than one day each year (for instance, it says the name Michał is celebrated on March the 2nd and 14th, April the 10th, May the 4th, 8th, and 23rd, June the 20th, July the 5th, August the 25th, etc.). Would someone named Michał celebrate their name day on all those days, or do they pick a particular day and just do it once a year?

They only celebrate once per year. For multiple names, my family chooses the date/name that is closest to the birthday, but it might be different for others.

2. If someone was half Polish and lived in Poland all their lives, but had a foreign name (like Michel), would they celebrate their name day on the Polish equivalent day of that name (like on the name days for Michał)?

Yes.
