Life / $3,000-$4,000 a month - would we have enough money to live in Poland? [273]

SO i would say a deluxe way of life costs 18 000 zl per month and a simple way of life would be 3000 zl to 4000 zl a month. Would you guys agree?

Thanks for your post, you suggest that a lot of people in Poland earn 18000zl a month (216000zl a year)..well I'm scratching my head and thinking where are these people, I doubt if the President earns that sort of money.. it seems to me that only forum members boost of earning this sort of money..lol

whether you shop at Alma gourmet or biedronka for a pound of sugar I don't think it makes much difference. Lets come down to ground level and agree that most poles earn around the 3000zl mark (gross) and can only dream about earning any more... Can I ask you where you shop LK?

News / Andrzej Lepper committed suicide [98]

Lepper was a colorful Polish politican who had a similiar style to the famous Russian politic Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Lepper was a old communist thug who changed his beliefs after the fall of communism, like all of the communist who became overnight capitalist and then continued robbing the system. Lepper was good at making promises, and playing to public opinion. Sorry about his death, but people who live by the sword in classical style die by the sword. It will probally all come out in the wash when we find out what was behind it.

Law / Permanent Residence in Polska: procedures, list of documents, etc. [59]

To have health care on a voluntary basis, it's about 220zl a month. Perhaps it would be better to say that "NFZ cover is available for 220zl a month".

Mr D once again where do you come across a figure of 220zl a month for private insurance???

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

under australian tax law you get a deduction for interest and other property related expenses on your rental property. ideally works the best if you're on a higher tax bracket.

In Poland negative gearing, well King Sobieski!!! You miss the point, you cannot include business loss with personal income... In Poland homes/apartments are NOT increasing... if you borrow say Zlote 400,000, interest say approx 25,000 zlote, income from property 24,000 zlote, you come out even, but property is no increasing, you still have to pay for repair to property, you still come out at a loss... I make the point that Properties in Poland in the last 2 years have lost a lot of value.

Life / Have many Poles had enough of one another? [198]

I'm hearing more and more that Poles want to leave.

Seanus, you are having a cheap shot at the Poles, one fully understands the average Pole earning the basic wage and then having salt rubbed in by the likes of you (no offence) they see people from GB and Ireland walking around with fist full of zlotes and they ask the question why they have and I not have... I can understand the mood of the day... Everyone is happy when the have a belly load of booze and plenty of good food, car, house and money.... get the point?

Life / Have many Poles had enough of one another? [198]

You see more Poles with big suv's and name brand clothing and all done up- compared to the foreigners who work here, who keep a relatively low profile.

Pip I think Seanus is talking about life in a small country town, not in a major city. People may view Seanus as some sort of rich guy etc, where money is no problem...

You will be suspended for provocation and leading the thread off-topic. By all means learn but stay away from threads you can't contribute to.

Nasty!!!!... hmmm Seanus Poland is beautiful and now you try to throw mud!... Listen I'm sure if you walk around the streets of other poor countries you will have the same experience... You my friend are pretty well off, compared to other people in your town...I must disagree and say you live in a small town... 100,000 people is ttha big... and further relax polish people are good company.

Is it really hard to comment on the thread rather than pointing an accusatory finger at me?
<!--

Well when you make unfounded silly comments expect this sort of feedback.

[quote=delphiandomine]I suppose you're just another one of those EU passport hunters who only discovered your Polish roots in 2004

Lol, another unfounded and silly comment, time to look into the mirror and take a hard look at yourself..What are you doing in Poland might I ask???? Life if Poland is obviously good, unlike for Mr Seanus!

Thanks Justysia for a lovely response, without a doubt customer service and staff attitudes are getting better and better, its important for customers to at least be friendly and display some sort of humour..I have to say though that when it comes to business transactions Poles are very dishonest, YOU CANNOT TAKE A POLE AT HIS WORD and this is sad. a lot of Poles steal and they front church every sunday... I feel sorry for Seanus who has yet to learn social communication skills, it seems he will never have a nice thing to say about any person and will never be happy...

Now, any more posts attacking me and you will be reported and suspended. Clear??

No need for those sort of comments on this forum, I stand by what I have said, firstly I have had 4 business dealings in Poland, 3 have ended in disaster due to people changing there mind, better offer elsewhere etc, I talk from hard experience, stealing well open your eyes, most would agree with what I say. Things are getting better, lets remember the communist system forced people to steal and be dishonest... I might add that its even worse in other old Soviet countries. I would love to talk about corruption, pay backs in Local and Government Departments, but thats for another day.

Work / Salary expectations in Poland [373]

Martin, do not listen to Delphi, he's a "doomsday master" of all times :-). Just try your luck and perhaps you will get what you want.

Yeah I agree, Mr D seems to be all over the place, If you took his advice on business matters you would probally be bankrupt, It was not so long ago that people were saying that they would not teach english for less than 50zl a hour,, My only comment about coming to Poland is not to expect too much, costs are pretty expensive, rent included, wages are still low. Every one in Poland claims to be a expert or hold some degree...You may have to settle for the unemployment pension in Poland!

Entry positions in Poland will range from 1500zl-2500zl net in a big city

Whilst I agree with what you are saying in this instance Mr D, You need to point out that in smaller cities it is much less, if you deduct cost of living then you be left with little change. The problem with having a small business in a small town say less than 40,000 people is that you have little turnover and if you are doing well somebody else will open shop and compete against you, just look at the amount of pizza shops that are around in these small towns, most struggle during the winter months. This leads to the fact that having a wage of say 3000zl a month will not be enough to invest in a house.

I wouldn't say so young, but rather the 45+ generation seems to be exceptionally spiteful in my opinion

Can I test you for some examples??? The only way a person a person 25 was able to achieve something in the 90's was to work in the US.. Unless he was a old party member who purchased cheap state owned companies and land/building, usually for peanuts after the fall of communism.

in which case, a golden rule in Poland is only to deal with professionals and never get involved when there's more than one owner.

Absolutely correct.

USA, Canada / American...Polish Resident...Returning to the land of milk and honey [103]

I got to get the hell out of here because winter is coming and it sure won't get any better.I don't know where to go yet,so I will probably go to Poland for a couple of months just to chill and to decide what to do.

Grubas stop dreaming, and you think you will be able to find work in Poland, how are you going to pay your bills if your not working, or are you a guy on welfare???

To be frank Seanus at some places they charge 2zl for doing no 1's, I saw one person walk out in disgust and just done his business in full view of people in the subway, I suspect he purchased a can of beer for what he saved...The lack of public toilets (no charge) is a disgrace in Poland.

You mean to say designer clothes are more expensive compared to overseas... local and chinese imports are very cheap..

Life / Worlds most liveable cities (Krakow or Warsaw don't even hit the radar screens) [104]

plenty of restaurants

Sorry Monia, have to take you to task on this one, Restaurants in Warsaw apart from those in the Major Hotels ie Marriott, are pretty pathetic, unless your easily pleased by dining at McDonalds or Pizza Hut..also a big draw back is there are no major sporting events in Warsaw. I agree its pretty green and clean.
