Food / Is brain-damaging vegan fad growing in Poland? [176]

Vegetarians will eat dairy products. Strictly speaking no seafood or fish.

Vegans will not consume any products of animal derivation. Strictly speaking won't wear leather or silk either:

A vegan diet adhered to correctly is actually very healthy, but that means being very disciplined and organised and making sure you are eating the correct combination of foods to ensure you are getting the right nutrients.

Many young people with good intentions take it up because they don't want to eat animal products, but not having done the research they think they can survive on stuff like crisps and coffee on a daily basis. Also if you aren't prepared to increase your intake of fruit and veg then forget it, it's not for you.

Having said all that there are plenty of omnivores and carnivores with damaged brains.

Language / Differences in Polish and English idioms [69]

One of my faves:

Polish: "Między młotem a kowadłem"

English equiv: "Between the devil and the deep blue sea"

Meaning: in a desperate dilemma; faced with alternatives which are equally undesirable
