Law / Classic car registration in Poland [9]

Hi,

I am no expert and can't answer all your questions but be sure to get a "UMOWA KUPNA SPRZEDAŻY SAMOCHODU" this is available on line.

If you plan to export the car in the future having a yellow plate make this very difficult (maybe not even possible) because the car will be an antique.

I was told that I had to register a motorcycle that I bought within 30 days, but when I tried I was told I couldn't because it didn't have a "Przegląd Techniczne" (MOT), so the 30 day rule did not apply, the local office know it has changed ownership because the previous owner registered the "UMOWA" with them, I can register it when I have the Polish MOT.

Work / NFZ and contributions and a FINE!? Working as a teacher in Poland. [11]

I pay my own health insurance and did not have to pay a fine, I started paying when my NHS cover finished, if you were previously working in the UK you would have been covered by the NHS for a period in Poland.

The period varies depending on your N.I. payments in the UK

UK, Ireland / Benefit cuts for Poles in The UK? [143]

I have to pay nearly £50.00 a month prescription charge for medication in Poland which is free in the UK, even though the NHS is refunding NFZ!!!! and although I have worked for over 40 years in the UK and never received benefits the NHS will only provide the funding till January 2014 (about 18 months in total)

UK, Ireland / Why can't unemployed Polish people on benefits just leave UK and go home please? [240]

Having read the many post here are my observations.

If these facts are true the benefit system is to blame, I am 60+ now living in Poland on a small private pension (£500 a month)

I could no longer afford to live in England after working all my life then being made redundant the only benefit I received was the "job seekers allowance" of around £60 a week for 6 months.

The 12 months before I left the UK (South Yorkshire) the only work I could find was short term agency work and I was mostly working with Poles (all hard working compared to the Brits.), I speak Polish and have not met these Polish scroungers, but I have met plenty of English scroungers who have never worked a day in their life, abuse the system, and will still receive a pension (Gordon Brown has most of mine!!).

As far as I know it is not that easy to get a council house, in most areas there are long waiting lists.

The UK benefit needs sorting out, there are no benefits for people who have worked all their life, bought a house and have a very small income, I have no problem with people using the system, I only wish I could have got some financial help!!!

Please no rants or name calling I am only stating facts!!!

P.S. Health and losing my job caused my marriage to break up, my wife has the house, I used my redundancy money to pay mortgage etc. luckily I have found a Polish woman who has given me a roof over my head.

Can't advise on the question of joining the NFZ, I will worry about that next year, yes visits to GP's are free, but Polish prescription charges will apply.

Rubber stamps!! cholera!!!!!!

I took my partner's father for a hospital visit recently, and was amazed (or now mabe not) to see had carried 3 different stamps in his pockets!!!!!!!

Thankfully the form is now back with a rubber stamp and I have the insurance document from the NFZ, just have to find an Endochrinology specialist to write my prescriptions now, without paying for a private consultation!!!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the "varied" information posted, here is my update, I have now been living in Poland for nearly 3 months, I have had an S1 form sent to me from the NHS and the covering letter tells me that I am entitled to free medication funded by the NHS until January 2014, then I should start paying my NFZ insurance to receive Polish healthcare.

Don't know how long this process will take, I took the form to the Lodz NFZ office, they have since written to me to say that they have returned the form to the NHS because it didn't have an official stamp on it!! do we still use rubber stamps???? (my new hobby is Polish stamp collecting!!)

Colin

Hi again,

Forgot to say that I will have to pay the NFZ prescription charge, in my case 200+ zloty, hope I can get more than one dose at a time!!

Hi,

I travelled to Poland by motorcycle (Zielona Gora) in April, and plan to move out there next spring.
I had no problems apart from when travelling at night on back roads, if possible fit some additional driving lamps or the potholes will take you by surprise!!!! new motorways are excellent but you pay for them!!

I am happy to answer any questions.

Many thanks for all the replies, seems as though it is a bit of a minefield, my girlfriend is a biology teacher and luckily has some contacts in the medical profession, she will have to call some favours in for me!

Polish is not a problem, I can get by in most situations, I just don't worry about the grammar!!

Fortunately my condition is very rare and at the moment asymptomatic, my only problem will be the bureaucracy!

Paying the contribution to ZUS appears to be the way to go, I hope I find thing straight forward in Lodz.

Thanks, my "intended" is a teacher and has worked most of her life in Poland

Can anyone help please?
I am hoping to move to Poland in the near future, but I have to have monthly medication which is free in the UK as it relates to cancer.

What would my position in Poland be, am I eligible for free prescriptions? I know this medication is very expensive.

Law / Motorcycling Business In Poland [10]

Hi Keith,

Have you got any further with the business plans? I had a plan to start motorcyle tours to Poland, but the redundancy package I was offered was not enough.

I may start doing just 1 tour a year and take it from there.
