Love / Don't want others to join us at a table - is it normal for Polish girls to get angry? [161]

quote removed

Me being Jewish doesn't influence the fact that I've spent a ton of time in Poland ( I am in bloody Poland right now, as a matter of fact ) and even a lot more time working with Polish people. I know a bit or two about Poles, Polish women and Poland.

Other than that, my doctor says that my health is golden so I don't plan to be doing any burning in hell in a while, sorry.

confused:

In my humble opinion you sir are dealing with what is called a "Polish princess".

If I was in your shoes that night ( and that wouldn't happen since, for a variety of reasons, I don't date women from Eastern Europe nowadays ) I'd have simply stood up and left. That was the best, simple and elegant solution.

Now you can either indulge her and her games ( from what you wrote so far - there's going to be plenty of them ), kick her to the curb ( which I recommend ) or ignore her completely ( I do mean completely ) and await that 3AM text message asking why you don't call her anymore.

Your choice, sir.

Love / Don't want others to join us at a table - is it normal for Polish girls to get angry? [161]

If there were no rules I would have broken his jaw @grubas

Guys, guys, no need to get rude or aggressive, there's plenty of Polish women in England left for everyone, the majority of them aren't exactly nuns, so I'm sure that in due time both you and your last night's competition will get what you're looking for :-)

Regarding the incident itself:

First things first, the guy behaved like a first class ******, even considering that the English do have a reputation for cock-blocking.

Other than that I hate to break it to You, "confused", but you'll have to chalk up her behaviour to "cultural differences".

Your average UK, American or Western European woman that is already out of her teens indeed understands the concept of a date quite well and is aware that a man who takes her out on a date has the right to expect her to offer him at least some attention. Agreeing to go out on a date with Johnny and then spending 90% of the time chatting with Darren who decided to swoop in is in our societies considered very rude and impolite. Not to mention a girl who'd pull such a trick more than a few times would be branded a slut. Thus most girls from our cultural circle would have told the "other" guy, politely at first, to leave them and their date alone.

Now Polish women and women from Eastern Europe...well... quite often they don't understand the "dating" concept quite like we do. Due to the way they were raised they believe it is perfectly ok to hold spontaneous competitions during the date between the chap who asked them out and the dashing gentleman who for some reason just really, really needs to sit down with a couple. Then they just sit around, watch the boys compete for their attention and feel really good with themselves, since in their minds they figure they must be pretty damn special if "guys are fighting over them". Of course, since all of this is "out of their hands" they also consider their behaviour to be perfectly ok and not slutty at all.

Now, I personally think that your competitor had slightly more insight into the mind of an Eastern European woman than you did, which is precisely why he acted the way he did.

If you want to continue this particular "relationship" you'd better be ready for such shenanigans every other night you go out with that broad. Sorry to say, but all these stereotypes about the promiscuity of women from Eastern Europe didn't just materalize from thin air.

Cheers and good luck.

Pakistani, Indian or Bangladeshi, these are my guesses, in no particular order.

Get over the fact that a visible number of your compatriots consider Poland the new UK kid and stop throwing your weight around, as meagre as it is.

That's what the question that was asked ( 4 days ago, I might add )

Hi - I have an apartment in £ódź that I'd like to rent. Can anyone suggest good rental and management agencies in £ódź?

So yeah, pretty sure your contribution isn't really that helpful or necessary for that matter.

Im 27yrs and for my age,i think i travelled quite well.

Quite sure there's a number of people here that have travelled more extensively, myself included.

What is the big deal with Polish citizenship, even if Poland is EU member? ...i like my own citizenship, even if I am from developing 3rd country.

No big deal.

Just a huge spike in the number of people from the "3rd countries" trying to enter EU in general and gain a Polish citizenship in particular.

So guess some of your "3rd country" colleagues are of a different opinion than you :-)

Might have something to do with the difference in wages, I dunno.

Who you are you to say that there no such thing as black culture? I dare you, I double dare you to stand in front of the Jewish community and say in front of them with a straight face that theres no such thing as Jewish culture (...).

Pretty much what I've been telling them ( cheesymac in particular ) all along.

Every time somebody discusses "black culture" there's always a person ( who usually has no clue whatsoever about the subject of the discussion ) that shows up and claims black culture equals the worst ideas presented in gangsta rap videos.

Simply dumbfounding. As I said - try that stunt with Italian Americans and tell them their culture amounts to Don Corleone, the mafia and not talking to the police --> they'll sue the pants off your ass.

No more than a post-War German ever shoved a single Jew into an oven,

Let's keep the oven jokes out of this one. I for one had ancestors who died in Auschwitz and these "jokes" are not funny.

London just got a taste of a mixed culture society yesterday..

Thugs will remain thugs regardless of the color of their skin.

DO YOU REALLY WANT YOUR COUNTRY TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU AND ONER RUN LIKE AMERICA IS WITH RAPES/GANG CRIME DRUGS AND SUCKING ALL THEY CAN OUT OF THE POLISH STATE.

Love / How do Polish guys feel about having an older girlfriend/wife? [30]

Ok, I'm afraid I'm going to be the bearer of bad news.

I asked him if he had a problem with my age and he said he didn't.

Polish guys are ( or in the very least - were ) raised to be extremely polite to women. Don't expect him to tell you that the age difference bothers him even if he feels so.

I know he SAYS my age doesn't bother him. But I sometimes wonder if he's too young to know what he really wants, and it will suddenly hit him one day and he'll change his mind.

Always a possibility when dating younger people.

I also wonder if his family wouldn't be happy about our age difference.
In general, do Poles look down on relationships where the woman is older than the man?

Crux of the matter.

My experiences show that Poles apply a double standard to males and females in that regard. That goes double in this case, because you're: a) female, b) older c) foreign.

Now, if a Polish girl who is, shall we say, 22, hits up London and 8 months down the road ends up living with a 35-year-old local guy in his flat he has a fair chance of being rather well accepted by this girl's family. Reasons:

1) Older guy, younger girl still seems to be more acceptable in Poland,

2) If the guy contributed to her living expenses while she was abroad that's usually seen as a huge plus by the girl's family,

3) Her mom is very likely to consider a foreigner a "good catch".

Looking at your case:

1) Older girl, younger guy - not as acceptable in Poland as the other way around.

2) You'll be foreign and a lot of Polish moms for some reason are really strict on their male children when it comes to dating and marrying only Polish women ( that's not applied to female children ).

3) To be quite frank - with what I just wrote above in a situation where you're both foreign and older his mom might actually think you're a waste of his time.

So I think it might be an uphill battle and if you want to continue down that road at least prepare accordingly.

Life / Racism and for what? (story of Egyptian guy's living in Poland) [149]

pip

Why is hoping to educate somebody arrogant?

Here's a hint:

1 ) Saying "Madam, I don't think you're right. If you took your sweet time, read some books and maybe travelled to countries where arabs actually live you would quickly see that not all of them, in fact, stink"

That's called trying to educate someone.

2)

I looked at her and I said in English "This is fcuking sh*t"

Now that's just being a rude, arrogant and condescending person.

And once again the double standard of Poland for Poles- yet Poles can live the fcuk wherever they want and have the right to an opinion of the host country is exhausting.

Yes, that's tragic in fact.

I mean, it is not like Indians, Arabs, Africans or hell, even the English would share such a mindset < sarcasm >.

You mentioned that you're in Sudan because you work in the petroleum industry.

Well, professor Jok Madut Jok most likely isn't there leaning over your shoulder and telling you where to look for oil, how to do it or which drill to use and generally making an ass out of himself by questioning your expertise.

My source - professor Jok Madut Jok - is an established member of the academia, who defended his doctoral thesis at a university which probably wouldn't even let you study for a B.A. in wood cutting and is a recognized expert on the issue who publishes books on the subject.

You're a regular joe with no expertise in the matter.

My bet is with him being right and you being wrong. By the way, I wonder if you think you can pilot a space shuttle better than an astronaut too :-)

Also, it is quite interesting that you're trying to brand the guy an extremist only after your initial attempt at twisting what he wrote failed. Classy.

Anyway, tell us why you think that racism 'isn't' largely a white on black thing.

Already did.

A polemicist with an axe to grind. But nice for you that you have so much free time to trawl the internet looking for quotes.

Well, those of us who actually have any background in proper debating techniques and academia use sources.

Trying to ridicule use of sources is very mature on your part.

Wait, so is saying a professor at an established university who published books on the subject is wrong and you're right :-)

Plus, I have to mention a little process called "peer-review" that you might not be aware of, but it takes place somewhere during the publication process of most papers and books written by academics. Google it. Peer review does ensure a "polemicist with an axe to grind" doesn't get to publish unfounded lies and bullshit.

And you're still wrong - racism is largely a white on black phenomena.

Nope ( there, using the same "arguing" technique that you use ).

Beep - wrong! No they don't

I see someone has to work on their sarcasm detector.

Well I hate to rain on your parade here but despite the initial stories, she wasn't actually raped.

Well, let's start by saying you need to clean your ears ASAP. I linked this interview:

cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7364550n

4:20 she describes an ongoing sexual assault,

4:40 says how she was pulled away from the camera crew by the mob,

5:25 mentions how her clothes were torn off her,

6:10 claims that she really feared for her life,

7:30 says a sexual assault is going on and that someone ( not specified ) was "inside her", then goes on to say that after that she was fighting for her life for roughly 20 minutes,

8:55

a group of Egyptian women who took her to a group of Egyptian soldiers who took her to hospital. Well, looks like you are wrong again, Midas.

- more hearing problems I see, the interview material makes it clear the soldiers only intervened after the pleas from Lara Logan's camera crew.

11:09 downright says she was treated in the hospital for days also for injuries to her intimate parts.

So there you have it, I don't know where exactly rape starts in your own private Idaho, but for most people when a woman mentions the attacker was "inside her" and gets treated for days in the hospital also due to "intimate injuries" - that usually warrants a bit more of a reaction than a casual shrug of shoulders.

In legal terms UK nowadays indeed differentiates between "rape" and "sexual assault", some countries don't. Poland is amongst them, art. 197 of the Polish Criminal Code covers what can be loosely translated to both "rape" and "sexual assault".

In this light, I don't really understand your cool and casual attitude pertaining to this incident and you saying the story ( I presume - words coming out of her mouth since I linked the interview ) is "unreliable" is simply low. Wonder how would you feel if your loved was assaulted or raped and the officer assigned to the case dismissed her story as unreliable.

The fact remains, and I stand by my original point that he can't come on here saying he was wrong in his original preception that Poland was a racially tolerant, open minded country and after an unsavoury incident that its entire population were now actually one in the same as those that beat him.

Exactly the above. The TS acts as if he stepped down from heaven and was assaulted by a bunch of Polish savages, then goes on to claim that nothing like this would happen in egypt.

I called BS on that, provided proof and we saw the usual routine that ( complain all you want ) fits into a certain stereotype rather well. First the people who say the TS isn't right and provide proof are right away being called racists by the TS ( p. 2, ell's post ), which is pretty much a threat going along the lines "Don't disagree with me or I'll cry RACISSS". Then we're being fed a bunch of lines that the incident used to prove a point ( whose existence was initially denied altogether by TS - "nothing like this would happen in egypt" ) is supposedly an isolated case and shouldn't be taken into account. Of course while doing so the TS regrettably fails to notice the stark contrast, between the fact that he easily managed to brand a whole country ( Poland in this case ) based on one isolated case of battery, while at the same time claiming one shouldn't draw any conclusions about his place of birth due to the fact that over a 100 guys sexually assaulted a woman for being white and blonde over there. Hypocrisy which again, some might say, fits a certain stereotype.

That's how such discussions usually go down. Also, should someone ask the TS how would a white guy fare if he walked around some egyptian city for two hours and publicly made out with an egyptian woman he'd probably receive some kind of BS answer that would have nothing to do with reality whatsoever.

However, ell's true colors shine through once he learns I'm Jewish. Out comes a very long rant ( wonder if he was actually frothing at the mouth when he typed ) which is highly charged with negative emotions to say the least. It does give everyone a hint about what would actually happen to me if I walked around egypt flaunting my backgroud, or, heaven forbid, publicly kissed an egyptian woman and encountered ell and his 5 friends back on their home turf.

Love / Polish women USED TO BE much more attractive: [162]

The time I spent in Poland in this century and in various decades of the previous century make me more than qualified to speak out.

And here's my take on this:

It isn't fair to say Polish women USED TO BE much more attractive. However, if anyone spent any significant amount of time in Poland in the 1980's or the early 1990's one thing does stick out - people in general ( both genders ) are now MUCH more obese then they used to be back then. I suppose it has something to do with the food - back in the 1980's if one had dinner at a decent restaurant in Warsaw there was a noticeable difference in the quality of food between Poland and the UK. I guess it is fair to say Polish food back then was, how to put it, more real, without all the chemical stuff that was routinely pumped into the food back in the West. There were no fast-food restaurants, at least as far as I recall, either.

Nowadays things have pretty much evened out, hence the rise in the number of Polish fatties ( both genders ) which in turn might translate into the female population becoming slightly less attractive.

Life / Racism and for what? (story of Egyptian guy's living in Poland) [149]

One at a time:

Johnnym:

Your sources do not say they are different races.

Which parts of:

biracial nation. and Race - not religion - is the fundamental fault line in Sudan,

are hard to understand?

I'm sorry - I quoted a professor from Loyola Marymount who is Sudanese, has a dozen or so publications, specializes in these issues and has built an academic career around this.

All you did was say was that you've been around and know better than the guy.

Here's a few more quotes from his book:

Black, non-muslim Sudanese:

I assure you, the Arabs are not people we want to share anything with and history speaks for us. We have never been one, we will never be one ... They have done terrible things to us. We are not one race.

Black Sudanese:

One
Darfurian informant said:

Because Islam says that there is no distinction between Arab and non-Arab, we the non-Arab Muslims believe that we are brothers with all the rest of the world's Muslims, but our Arab brothers in
the north do not see it this way. They think that they are better Muslims because their race brings them closer to the Prophet, and that blacks can never make good Muslims.

Care to elaborate more about how they're supposedly not talking about race and skin color? Apparently now you also know this stuff better than the Sudanese people themselves.

Hence if you're really in Sudan, please be so kind and climb on a tall building or something, grab the microphone and tell them guys that they're wrong, they're all of one race and thus there's no reason to fight. I'm sure they'll understand and you'll get a Nobel Peace Prize out of the deal.

woodgey

SLIGHTLY misrepresenting the issue here...

Sure.

I mean rapes like that of Lara Logan happen in most European states every other weekend. Polish males, they usually go apeshit crazy if in a given month they fail to gang-rape a woman of another race. <strong sarcasm>

Here's the link to what Lara said publicly about the ordeal: cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7364550n

What she says makes my stomach crawl. People ( more than a 100 egyptian males participated ) who did this to her are savages and should end up in prison until the end of their days.

If you tolerate or in any way defend such behaviour ( "mispresenting the issue" ) I have nothing to say to you, because you're quite simply not human. You're just the type of guy who'd gladly say Poland is racist when one egyptian gets his teeth knocked out over there, yet you will still label egypt a tolerant paradise while they tolerate such savage crimes as the one that was committed on Lara Logan.

And yes, as long as Egypt tolerates such behaviour ( haven't heard anything about anyone being caught or sentenced in the case ) egyptians don't really have much of a right to complain about other people being racist to them. She got raped because she was white, American and pretty. Period.

Beata_Fattah

Madam, please learn to spell in English or at least use google translate. I will not reply to any of your posts until they're at least semi-readable.

I have a huge issue with Poles that live outside of Poland yet have a double standard with others immigrating to Poland.

An issue that in any way, shape or form doesn't affect people of other race/nationality, of course. I mean, I've never seen an arab live a double life ( different behaviour in London, different in Saudi Arabia ) <sarcasm>

I have a story for you.

Is there any moral to the story? Apart from the fact that you can be rude and condescending to people publicly?

Regardless whether this girl was from Poland B, C or D and whether she was educated or stupid she has the right to her own opinions.

You have to employ Polish, because Polish tourists are bringing in the money, so it is not like you're doing anyone a favour. Sharm and Hurghada would be much worse off without Eastern European money.

Yes, you are trolling.

Pot calling kettle.

But it does however mean I know rather more than someone who is just cutting and pasting out of context.

Your words are in direct contradiction with established academic sources. They claim that there's a biracial nation and a conflict along the lines of race, not religion in Sudan. You say there is one race in Sudan. Hence in my book - you're most likely an undereducated guy talking about stuff you know little about and the academic sources are right.

But everyone is free to reach their own opinion, enough material has been provided.

So you're suggesting suggesting that people who are black - or, in your words "Other cultures, very often dominated/created by people with not-so-white skin" don't "give a ****" about racism?

I'll put it this way.

If You happen to be black and got turned away from a nightclub door in Tokyo with the bouncers saying some racially-charged words then good luck with your lawsuit.

do you think that racism is in every circumstance an abomination? Or not?

Racism is an abomination. People of all shapes, sizes and colors can be racists. Racism isn't something that only white people are capable of.

Please adjust your tone when writing on the forum. Thank you

Why, with pleasure. While we're at it, hope Johnny's bit about my supposedly "limited intellect" that got me a bit stingy won't go unnoticed as well.

Still abusive I see. I've noticed that before when you start an argument then lose it. In the long run it doesn't work.

Kettle to pot... copy?

No, but I am an official guest of the Sudanese government for professional reasons to do the petroleum industry, recently split between North and South so I flatter myself that I know what I'm talking about in this matter and don't have to rely on second-hand sources.

Still doesn't make you any smarter than a Sudanese Professor of History at an established University.

Of course, you're entitled to think you know it all, still acting like that just makes you look an idiot.

There's a reason for that - the Western Europeans and their white American counterparts are the most guilty of racism on a global level.

And here's an even better reason:

We give a ****.

Other cultures, very often dominated/created by people with not-so-white skin, don't.

But I don't expect a guy who missed the race-based conflict in Sudan while supposedly being there to understand that :-)

So why do you think that "racism is part of the natural order of things"?

I guess I'll have to repeat:

Quit putting words in my mouth or quoting me out of context, boy.

So basically you're saying that you know better than a guy who's been born in Sudan, is an assistant professor and dedicated his all academic life towards researching the subject?

Since laws of probability point towards him being right and you talking nonsense again I will not discuss it further, my point has been proven and arguing with you right now is like talking to a spoiled 5 year old. You think you know better. Everyone whose brain works on logic pretty much noticed that you don't have a clue.

But this is a side issue

Nope, it is an important issue since it proves that you don't have the slightest clue what you're talking about.

Next thing we know you'll be telling us how to build atom bombs, because you're a nuclear physicist working in a secret facility in New Mexico, 50 feet underground.

why you think racism is "part of the natural order of things".

Quit putting words in my mouth or quoting me out of context, boy.

What I wrote was:

And hasn't it occurred to you, boy genius, that in some corners of the world ( hint, hint, not the ones where people with lighter skin are the dominant race ) racism is as much a part of the "natural order" of things that nobody even plans to research it, much less combat it?

And I stand by that statement.

The broadly defined Western-European culture seems to be the only one that badly interested in exploring and fighting against racism. We're the ones commissioning studies, we're the ones creating policies etc.

For the Japanese, let's use this example, the gajin/non-gajin differentiation is exactly what most of them consider "the norm".

Guy who wrote the book a bit from which I quoted above is a bloody professor of history at Loyola Marymount, L.A. and happens to have been born in Sudan:

Again, someone should tell him he's making this stuff about Sudan being biracial and in conflict over racial issues up, I mean it could affect his future in academia if anyone finds out.

Johnny, you've been talking about things you haven't got a slightest idea about all day long today in this thread and this last bit of yours about there supposedly being only one race in Sudan proves it.

Unless you're younger than 15 I suggest you get some education before talking about such things in the future.

Life / Racism and for what? (story of Egyptian guy's living in Poland) [149]

Interesting. I'm there now (where everybody except official visitors and diplomats are the same race).

Well, if you're in Sudan it is obvious you're in Sudan on planet Mars or planet Mercury, not the one on planet Earth.

1 minute of google-search brings this: csmonitor.com/2004/0714/p09s02-coop.html

Care to explain why did you just claim that "everyone in Sudan is of the same race"?

Not 'can be found'. The important thing is what actually happens. The story of racism is largely the story of people with lighter skin oppressing people of darker skin.

Lol.

And hasn't it occurred to you, boy genius, that in some corners of the world ( hint, hint, not the ones where people with lighter skin are the dominant race ) racism is as much a part of the "natural order" of things that nobody even plans to research it, much less combat it?

That's just funny!

Can't help it if the truth is funny.
