UK, Ireland / I need help!! (problems with my Polish coworkers) [41]

Polish women have a cut-throat, take-no-prisoners survival instinct. Especially middle-aged ones, with kids to feed. You are a threat, probably because you get along with the boss, speak better English, love the job. You're not going to get anywhere trying to get buddy-buddy with them.

Very true.

Life / Have many Poles had enough of one another? [198]

Poles are surly by nature and don't do well in service type jobs (salary or lack thereof has nothing to do with it). They're best at production type jobs, put your head down and work, they are very hard working. Task driven.

USA, Canada / American...Polish Resident...Returning to the land of milk and honey [103]

back in the promised land. 25 degrees every day, every single day. wait, let me correct that, it doesn't dip below 25. there we go. it hits 40 before noon. ac is working overtime.

It's been a hot one in Okiefonokie this year. Yeah, Boulevard is nice but I've been buying "Fat Tire" lately.

It's already been one long year. Poland, I miss you like crazy :(

Beckski, why don't you move back?

News / Should Poland leave the EU institution? [147]

And we shouldn't forget that Poland is the biggest recipient of EU aid.

Poland was also biggest recipient of war damage. Consider EU aid war reparations, why not? The longer Poland stays in EU, Poland will eventually lose it's sovereignty. Poland should emulate Norway, Iceland, Switzerland. Forget EU.

! I got to get the hell out of here because winter is coming and it sure won't get any better.I don't know where to go yet,so I will probably go to Poland for a couple of months just to chill and to decide what to do.

Work is in the oil states right now: Wyoming, Oklahoma, North Dakota, Montana, etc. (jobsnd.com/job-fairs)

Seanus, it's accounted for. They released the list. A few in Europe. But the economy drives the debt.

Love / Polish women USED TO BE much more attractive: [162]

Wroclaw Boy

food for profit

Ah, you often express that English theme that profit is immoral and the cause of all evil. It's just the way the English Upper Class keeps the English Working Class ... Working Class ("Tell 'em making money is evil"). Quite clever of them when you think about it.

F-Stop

and meat! Cripes! Where did my son get an idea that a meal is not complete without meat?!?

Your son is quite right. The reason why Americans are obese is not due to eating too much, it's eating too many processed foods more specifically sugars and carbs. Adkins (Adkins diet) was right, we need more protein. You wanna cut the weight? Eat more meat.

I've just watched a series on PBS about evolution of humankind and they mentioned that man's brain size increased due to the availability of meat in their diet. In other words if we didn't have access to meat we wouldn't have evolved.

Love / Polish women USED TO BE much more attractive: [162]

wouldn't that be a Christian concept ?

No, Christianity is based on charity, love thy neighbor, be nice to your neighbor, etc. The concept that money is the root of all evil comes from Roman Catholicism and they're political relationship with the ruling classes in Europe (How else do you keep the lower classes on the farm?) If money was the root of all evil Communism would have succeeded.

No. You are just plain misinformed.

No. This is also incorrect.

They went back about a million years and used DNA analysis. Eat more meat

Law / Why is US $ getting so high or Polish zloty falling? [60]

The dollar is strengthening due to the economic fiasco in Europe. The Euro doesn't work for so many different countries and cultures. Looks like Greece, Portugal and Ireland might bugger off and do their own thing (as they should).

Law / Why is US $ getting so high or Polish zloty falling? [60]

The truth is, that unless a currency is backed by a commodity (traditionally gold or silver, etc.), it has no other value that what the users perceive.

Gold's value is perception also.

If anyone is interested in this, I'd encourage you to read up on FIAT currency. Rome was destroyed over fiat when they started putting less and less silver into their currency the Denarius

There were lots of reasons for Rome's decline. One should read Gibbons on the fall of the Roman Empire. It's quite voluminous.

The fact is there isn't enough gold to go around to support currencies. The current economic crisis has been created by the major banks and elites who wish to politically control the world through finance.

Law / Why is US $ getting so high or Polish zloty falling? [60]

Unless somebody somewhere is able to wipe away about $80,000,000,000,000 in debt the global economy will get worse.

BS, The Elites have you...hook, line and sinker. They want to keep you down and this is a way they do it, you owe money!

Debt does not have to be paid back, it is usually rolled over forever and inflated away. How serious a problem it is is a matter of debate.

Very True

Sure, lots of thing contributed to Rome's fall. But you have to admit the monetary policy was key. Don't take my word for it, read history.

I did, I read Gibbons. Actually Rome fell due to slavery. It was a slave economy, everything else is symptomatic of this fact. The problem with America is not the debt. The problem is, it's becoming a slave economy.

Work / Working Vs Private English Lessons Vs Starting a Small Business in Poland [33]

My "Plan C" is starting a small business. It will give me a decent income. Only downside is the time needed to nurture a new small venture. However, I'll be able to take a break together with the holiday season, if I want. Also, another downside is the current economic climate, and I hear businesses are dropping all over poland.

To be successful starting you own business takes only one thing...commitment. That's it.

Law / Starting a car junkyard in Poland [27]

Unless of course, you think chucking antifreeze down the drain along with some oil is a good idea.

don't chuck those fluids, everything has value. Especially for a junk yard.

History / Polish bombers over Berlin in 1939? [19]

After WWI Poland gained independence and if they feared an oncoming war they should have got as many WWI surplus planes as possible. There were thousands available from the French, Germans and English that were simply thrashed. WWI airplane would have made excellent ground support aircraft and if the Poles would have had 10,000 WWI planes the German invasion may have had a different result.

USA, Canada / Where do most Polish-Americans identify on the political spectrum? [142]

Yeah, I used to vote Republican but that was as a moderate Republican not as posted above. Most Polish Americans vote their interest which is mostly Democrat. Polish Americans are too well educated and intelligent to believe all of the Right Wing Propaganda.

Polish Americans voting in the Kaczynski election? These were recent emigres from Poland, not Polish Americans.

Thats interesting. I can tell you the Poles here in Mississauga and Toronto area lots of people have the orzeł on a daily basis.

Aside from this, i rarely see polish flags.

Canadian culture isn't US culture. These are different countries. Most emigres in the US assimilate, in Canada they tend to hold on to the culture from which they came. For better or worse America is a melting pot, Canada is not.

News / POLAND TO BECOME THE NEXT GREECE? [28]

As I've mentioned in previous posts Poland shouldn't be so eager to take Euro money. The European Elites will extract a high price, and Poland will lose its sovereignty.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who won yesterday's general election, must focus on cutting the budget gap to reverse a zloty plunge as investors shy away from the European Union's biggest eastern country.

News / POLAND TO BECOME THE NEXT GREECE? [28]

It's not how it is portrayed in the Press. The Greek people never see the money. The money goes from the ECB right to the German French Banks with the People of Greece signature on it. The whole thing is a scam to effect control over the Greek people, instead of armies marching through Europe the elites are using finance. It's a fact that the German elite want to make Europe their common market, the only fly in the ointment is that the German-man-in-the-street doesn't want it. What do the Polish Elite want and is it in the interests of the Polish people?

USA, Canada / US Polonia 70% for Kaczyński [343]

Americans don't vote in Polish elections. They barely vote in their own elections. It's the Polish ex-pats who are voting in Polish elections, they're not Polish-Americans.
