I don't undersatnd, why do Poles in the UK swap over their licenses then? I heard that it needs changing after 6 months if you are a resident. Anyway back to the original post does anyone know where to go to change over the license and what forms are required. Thank you

Hi

Does anyone on here know the procedure for changing your UK driving license to a Polish one. For example, where do you go? What forms you need? Do you take both plastic and paper etc? Thank you for your help I want to change it over as I intend to stay here.

Life / What's the story with Nergal? (Singer from Behemoth) [40]

You're talking about one of the most popular Polish exports. A lot of people care.

Plus they put on a damn good show.

I'm sure he was popular when he ripped up a bible, I certainly don't have a high estimation, I wonder what would happen to someone in Iran if they ripped up the Koran! He should learn to respect other peoples beliefs and not insult religion.

Work / Self employed teacher, what do you think about this? [9]

Hi

I could really do with some advice from you guys. I have been given two jobs offers for the new school year. One seems very good, the pay is not great though. The other offers better pay but the owner is pretty insistent that I work on a self employed basis I'm not keen on this idea, and stated that I would rather be employed by the school instead of giving them an invoice each month. It sounds a bit fishy to me. Why is he so keen for me to be self employed, I'm not sure. What do you think? Any experience of this? Your help is appreciated!

News / Polish Policeman shoots down a foreigner in Warsaw [300]

The calm voice of intelligent debate. And maturity and experience - some of us have socks we bought before 1983!

Very good, but I thought with age came wisdom, not bigotted ignorance

what does the European Court has to do with an idiot getting killed for assaulting a policeman?

Exactly, all he had to do was co operate like any other normal human being, why slam the police? They are doing their jobs, do you think that police officer is happy now? He is probably going through hell, and will remember this forever!

Clearly frd didn't mean to cause such controversy by creating this thread but as always the racists have to intervene, and by this I mean both groups those who are against blacks and those who are racist against Poles and white people. What is the point of all this?

I have many stories where white people have been harassed, beaten up and even killed by police. Why make this into a race thing?

Excellent point and well put across!

If you are an illegal immigrant, why on earth go to Poland? Britain is your best bet, we will give you a house, car, money, woman (optional), and when we try to send you back, you can start a campaign to stay, which is usually successful.

Law / Will my friend have to pay back half the loan his ex-wife took out in Poland? [22]

They did have a joint bank account but he did not want to take out a loan and it was only for her in her name, incidentally the loan was for seven thousand pounds, and not all the money went on the car. It was used to pay off some of her mother's debts and buy her new cabinets, which incidentally my friend put up for her even though his ex wife's brother is a builder - nice family.

Law / Will my friend have to pay back half the loan his ex-wife took out in Poland? [22]

Hi, I am writing this thread on behalf of my friend and was just wondering if someone might know some information on Polish law to help him out. My friend is Polish, and has lived in Nottingham, England for four years. He married his long term girlfriend, who is also Polish last year in Poland. She has also lived in England with him for the same period. Unfortunately, in September last year she left him for another man. As a result they have since divorced. Their divorce was passed in a court in Poland. The problem he has is that last year after they married, his ex wife took out a loan and gave the money to her family in Poland, her brother even brought a car with the money. My friend did not sign for the loan, it was only signed in the name of his ex wife.

After they split she initially said that she did not want anything from him, however, she is now demanding that he should pay half the loan repayments, and has threatened him with legal action. The loan was taken out by her in Lloyds TSB. This is an English bank and there are no branches in Poland. If she wants to take civil action against him, can she pursue this in Poland or is this a matter for the English courts? Furthermore, now they are divorced does he even have to pay anything back? I would really appreciate some help on this one as my friend is a geniunely nice guy and just wants to get on with his life, and put this chapter behind him. Thank you if you can help me with this one.
