History / Maus by Vladek Spiegelman - animals to represent Poles? [68]

I recently came across 'Maus' and also the fact that there was some controversy as to depicting Poles as pigs. I think it is very offensive, since many Poles risked the lives of their families to hide Jews and also that many Poles died in concentration camps.

What animal do you think Poles should have been represented as?

I direct this question to fellow Poles, but feel free to answer if you aren't Polish, but please don't answer if you are going to be racist because you hate Poles.

I was thinking an Eagle, since (for me at least) it's associated with bravery (risking life to save Jewish neighbours) and pride (proud of being Polish). I also thought bear, because they are a survival animal (Poland survived for 123 yrs without a country during partitions)

History / Did a lot of Hungarians moved to Poland during the partitions (1900?) [2]

I'm Polish but I was told by my grandfather, that my great great grandfather came from Hungary to Poland. I assume this happened during the partitions, approximately 1900. Is there any history to this? I am wondering whether there is a wider historical context to this or if that was just a random move by one person at that time? Did alot of Hungarians move like that, and if so, why? Unfortunately my grandfather is no longer alive, so I cannot ask him myself.

Study / 90% of Poles have university degree? [57]

I remember reading somewhere on the internet that 90% of Polish people have a university degree. Is this true? Can anyone site an article?

History / Were these Polish people communists? [16]

I don't know if I'm posting in the right place, sorry if I am.

I just wanted to know whether Iwo Cyprian Pogonowski, Jerzy Robert Nowak, Jędrzej Giertych, Roman Dmowski, Henryk Pająk or Ks. Rydzyk were sympathetic to the communist rulers of Poland. I understand that some people may think these people are antisemitic or whatever, but that is irrelevant. I am asking because as far as I understand it, these people were Catholic and the Communist government in Poland was anticatholic (or secular, they supported atheism) so that would be kind of hypocritical of them (am I using the right word here?).
