Love / Long-distance attraction. I am attracted to a Polish guy. [42]

From a male point of view we don't like games or confusing communication. Just tell us how you feel.

Long distance relationships are not like normal ones and you can never really know someone until you have lived with them for some time. You can talk and learn things but until you live it you can't really know them because everyone says things but their true actions are another. Their habits, hygiene, true personality come out once they have dropped their guard...THAT'S when you find out if you are compatible.

In short. Stop making such a big deal out of it and talk to him. So what if he doesn't like it? You never have to talk to him again and he clearly wasn't right for you anyway. People make things way more complicated than they need to be.

Life / Proper dose of life in Poland... the harsh realities. [64]

You don't have to pay it. Only if you want to be covered in the national health system. If you never go to the doctor just pay cash when you go. It costs 100-150 for a typical office visit.

At 800+ a month you are paying 10,000 or more a year. Even one surgery wouldn't cost that much.

Get a brain tumor...lose a leg or arm...have your whole family killed in a car wreck. THOSE are harsh realities not choosing to live in Poland working a low paying job...that is a choice.

It is better to see the glass as half full rather than half empty

I have always found this a stupid argument. It all depends on the initial condition of the glass. If it was empty and you filled it up half way it is half full. If it was full and you poured half of it out it is half empty. Simple. People are weird with their sayings.

chemo in Warsaw and I asked him about bribes and he said nothing like this goes on in the hospital where his dad is treated, but knowing him, I dont think he'd stand for it..

I had first hand experience with the main cancer hospital in Warsaw and it was exceptional. It is an older building that does give an air of old communist times but the doctors and nurses were superb. They do a lot with a little. I am sure the bribes go on but I will go so far as to say I know of people there getting free or reduced cost care because the doctors were looking out for them and not writing things down to be billed.

beezlebub ill take no response as a yes,

I did not see your question. No I do not use ICQ and have not used this name anywhere else.

Not sure why you would assume no answer means "yes".

Life / Doctors taking bribes in Poland [76]

In the USA the costs are so high that unless you have insurance you can't afford it. Ton's of people get left in the cracks. Even WITH insurance you often pay more in associated fees than you would if you paid cash in Poland.

I don't care if the doctors take bribes as long as they do a good job. They get paid hardly anything in Poland anyway...I don't know how they get so many to bother with all the schooling since the salaries are so pathetic.

Life / Giving tips in Poland [235]

Why can't it just be added and included in the price??

Because every city in the USA has it's own percentage for sale's tax (VAT) and it changes often. They would never be able to keep up labeling things right. I don't mind so much because it's typically 6-8% rather than the 22% in the EU. Couple already cheaper prices and lower VAT I don't care if it's on the price tag or not as I come out ahead.

Travel / Time between flights in Frankfurt International Airport [3]

I wouldn't do it. If that is your initial entry into the EU you have the added delay of immigration and customs clearance.

The big delay anymore is security. I have waited for an hour or more just to clear security in several EU airports as recently as January. It's worse here in the US.

Call the airline and ask them their policy on connections. It seems if you miss a connection because security won't clear you fast enough everyone blames each other and it can leave you in a bind.

Life / You are Polish if... [433]

I'm Polish and it REALLY annoys me when people say "Polish" like "polish". Unfortunately many Polish people do it... :-(

I have never, ever in Europe or the US heard someone say it that way.

you walk into a shop and ask the shop assistant 3 questions whilst she is already serving sb.

What is that about? They think they don't need to wait behind everyone else. I usually interrupted them and told them where the end of the line was. Often I was dismissed with a "I just have a question"....to which I replied "yeah so does everyone else including myself...and we have been waiting for 30min". They still didn't get it.

Worse yet is the assistants/clerks whoever HELPS them...rather than pointing them to the end of the line.

UK, Ireland / Are polish girls in the UK cheap (to hire?) [35]

Why would a pimp have rough looking birds hanging about him

His phone rang non-stop and it seemed most of his business was from businessmen at hotels. He wasn't renting them out on the spot. Showed up in a really nice Mercedes and threw money around like it was paper so I guess business was booming.

He never did offer a freebie with one of his girls though...cheap bastard ;)

Maybe if you get horny enough it doesn't matter but personally I always saw walking STDs when I saw a prostitute. It's like eating off a toilet...no matter how hungry I was I think I would pass.

It was strange however to see it as so acceptable in Poland...I came back home where they act like it is as bad as murder and spend a LOT of money fighting it with Vice Police etc.

In your dreams beelzebub, you never lived in Poland

I don't understand comments like this. I most certainly did live there. In Warsaw to be exact.

You also must have missed the part where I explained that the pimp was a drinker and a talker and frequented the pub I did. His cheap girls were not attractive and that's probably why they were hanging out with him rather than earning. He was never short of money though so he must have done ok.

Why so angry?

Nie dziękuję...not interested in proving anything to you. Besides English is the forum's language ;)

I am no fan of life there but after living in Warsaw for the last 10 years I disagree with you. I even half knew one guy who was a pimp (he frequented a pup we did and liked to chat) and his "cheap" girls (who often came with him) were nasty. He said the super pretty ones were 2000 or more and that those flyers they put on cars and parking meters are just models they buy photos from.

What do you think Poland is going to take over the world while people dismiss them as the goofs of the east?

To be honest Poles are the only ones who care about Poles. Until I lived there I didn't have any opinion on the culture at all. It never entered my mind. Poles are way more impressed with themselves than the rest of us are and that's why we give them grief...they have to be the only nation around that loves to continually tell you how smart they are. It get's old and people laugh at you for bragging so much. Kind of like hearing Armenians say they have the greatest army in the world or something.

I lived in Poland for probably longer than you have been out of puberty. But you will say "I think you were only there for 2 days because you are a poopoohead bigot".

I cannot wait until you get onto the next obsession so we can stop hearing about the Nazis and Polish Jokes. There are lots of movie stars to stalk...that seems more your speed.

American? I'd say global. Everyone claims to be religiously, racially, sexually, or culturally persecuted these days the world over.

I am just a normal white male with no religion and Western European ancestry so I can't cry victim according to the common categories.

I lived in Poland for a long time idiot...figures I probably have some Polish friends eh? And that just goes to show you are full of **** because that wouldn't be the case with a bigot as he wouldn't befriend those he hated.

You are one of those people who thinks because he has a Polish last name that makes him Polish. For some reason you got your ire all up about Polish jokes. Probably some attempt to identify and compensate for some culture you don't understand but so desperately desire to be a part of.

You also refer to Jews all the time and use them as some focus of anger...methinks you don't like Jews for some reason. I bet someone in your family sits around and complains about Jews a lot...lots of Poles in Poland did so it wouldn't shock me to see 3rd gen Polish named Americans still whining about the Jews.

You have an obsession with hating Polish people.

I don't hate Polish people. Some of my best friends are Polish. I don't like many things about the culture but you are too stupid to see the difference.

People like you whine "bigot" and that automatically gives you "victim" status.

I have to keep reminding myself you are a teenager and also not even Polish. It makes your obsession even more bizarre.

I am glad more people called in and told jokes than protested. It shows that people still have senses of humor.
