Work / Why Poland employers are afraid of hiring any foreign nationals? [171]

Polish english teachers are just as capable, if not more so than native speakers in this country.

That is impossible. It also shows the typical arrogance inbred in Poland. Most of the Polish English teachers I met (I would guess around 100 or so in all my years, as a ballpark estimate) most ALL of them were not anywhere close to as good as they thought. Usually they had god awful forced accents and made stupid mistakes. Now I am not saying I speak Polish perfectly or even well but I also do not claim I could teach it as good as or better than a Pole could. That is just ridiculous.

Life / Ripped Off in Poland? - Expose here: [185]

About everything you buy there involves some rip off. Crap service, non existent return/exchange policies, dishonest workers.

Saturn actually tried to make me send a blender in for service the day I bought it because it was defective when I got it home. I went right back not an hour after I bought it and they insisted it had to be sent in. Well I wasn't having that. I have learned that Poles are not used to be stood up to in these situations so if you just insist and keep repeating what the proper thing to do is they will finally cave...it may take a long time but stick to your guns. I guess most Poles just accept the horrible customer service and the shops get away with it. They don't even follow their own rules or EU law often.

I got to where I would order everything I needed from abroad as I got sick of dealing with Polish retail. Of course they still dipped their greedy little hands in it in the form of customs fees (which never followed the same formula) but at least they didn't profit anymore than necessary.

UK, Ireland / Polish woman in the UK gives birth then leaves the baby in hospital [28]

We are not here to pass judgement

Says who? I find people who say such things judge often themselves. It's human nature.

On topic there is NO excuse EVER for abandoning your child. Nobody forced her to get pregnant (unless she was raped obviously)

Life / Polish culture do's and dont's? [106]

(in cities, it may work differently in the countryside).

This is funny to me especially since Poles call random people "uncle" or "cousin" etc. I never could keep track of who was actually related and who wasn't.

Genealogy / What are common Polish character traits? [417]

I'd say correct on the first but laugh at the second. If you think Poles are good under pressure try asking any shop worker or government official to do anything outside of their preprogrammed activities. They will quickly make an excuse and try to leave. They will get all vapor locked if you ask them to actually give you customer service or check something when they don't know how to do it.

They are worse about saving face than the Chinese. I have NEVER heard "I was wrong" from a Pole. In fact when faced with clear and obvious evidence they are you usually get that half eye rolling look and a "well....yes BUT....."

Life / Internet without TPSA (The Telecommunication of Poland Corporation) [11]

Harry do you have any neighbors who would let you jump on their wireless network if you paid part of the abonament? I did this once in the past and it worked well for us. Also Era Blue Connect (wireless dongle setup) is an option if you are not a heavy user. no help.

No wonder you are confused person

I am not confused at all. It's very clear to me you are exactly the kind of person I am talking about.

Life / 3 reasons why winter is the best time of the year in Poland [58]

Warsaw and public transport was not mentioned, a slight reference to the metro was.

You would have to be purposefully obtuse to not get my intent. So I can conclude you just wish to argue. You need to find someone else to do that with sorry.

Harry is right. Ignore his advice at your own peril. You will soon learn that it doesn't matter what you are "told" by officials. You can go to 3 different windows and be told 3 different things.

USA, Canada / Do many Polish people in America hate Americans? [592]

Yeah you would say that. In fact you are probably going to spend the next few hours trying to refute everything I have posted. So I will say this now and be done with you.

YOU are exactly the kind of person I am talking about in my posts and are responsible for the less than stellar reputation Poland often enjoys. Carry on.

Have you seen me once talk about national pride? I can assure you I am not prone to the national ego complex your half bretheren are.

Your word against mine then. I am not shocked I am being disagreed with by a Pole(and an expat Pole no less who are usually the mouthiest). I think its hard wired into your genes to argue even if you agree.

Real Estate / Apartments too expensive for Poles living in Poland [54]

the neighbours off' routine.

HAHAHAHA....oh man...I swear there was non stop noise for the whole year of 2009 in my building. From 6am to 10pm every...f'ing day. In fact when I left they were STILL banging and drilling and making noise.

I began playing the TV and music loud all night (I am a night person) and slamming every door and cabinet I could. If they were going to ruin my day I was going to ruin their night ;)

USA, Canada / How it works receiving a package from US for all of us who aren't residents [4]

It depends if you get an honest postman. Normally they shove a paper in the slot saying they "tried" to deliver and you werent there. Now this is a lie because you will have been there they whole time. It's just they are too lazy to bring it up.

Of course that is assuming it even MAKES it to delivery. I would say about 1/4 of the things I had shipped to me in Poland disappeared never to be seen again.

My recommendation is if it's valuable or irreplaceable use UPS. It is a lot more expensive but they have standards and guarantees.

About the address just use the hotel with your name on it.

Study / Medical Study in Poland [22]

You missed the point Mr. Canadian Polak, (why is it always the Poles who live abroad making the most noise?)

I said Americans who get a degree in Poland are not going to be as respected or get better jobs.

Also sure some Poles are being hired in areas of shortage just like Filipinos have been for years. It's not because they are super great it's because they are cheaper labor. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Study / Medical Study in Poland [22]

Americans are charged stupidly high prices to attend there. Add that to the fact that your education will be looked down upon in the US compared to Western schools and that's reason enough not to waste your money. It is a dog eat dog world in medicine and I would not handicap myself with a degree from a second tier system. Lot's of people did that in the Caribbean and learned that they couldn't get residencies as well because of this.

And before you patriots get your blood pressure up there are some great doctors in Poland...and the medical system in the US is fr from perfect but once again I am pointing out a clear fact...A Polish medical education will NOT hold the same weight as a Western education would. No matter how much that may offend you it's just reality.

Life / Feeling ashamed of my Polish heritage. [237]

I didn't say respect your superiors...YOU and your confidence problem brought that out. I said accept that you are not a superpower and stop making excuses for everything.

And a Pole living in Canada acting all nationalistic about Poland....how original. Why is it Poles who live abroad are always blabbering about this kind of thing? Sell out.

Me? Hah...boy your observational skills need some tuning. I am inferior to those superior to me but that's it. I am firmly confident that I am in the upper half at least :))

And Marqoz you are deflecting as is so common with Poles. The GLOBAL crisis is one thing. Poland's credit party is another.

You must be kidding right? It's common sense if you look at salaries vs real estate costs. Also look at the cost of goods, cars etc. It is an impossibility for people to be buying all they do on what they earn. But you knew that.

No I am not talking about ungrounded prejudice...I am talking about clear and obvious behaviors exhibited by certain cultures. You can try to dismiss it by calling it a stereotype with the negative connotation that has with it, but everyone knows it's true.

What exactly is YOUR problem in Poland ?

That's a long list...if I could ask one thing of Poles it would be to take responsibility for your inadequacies rather than make excuses and shrug your shoulders. I have never been somewhere where people make more excuses while doing nothing. You make the French look downright efficient.

But if nobody invested the majority of Poles WOULD care when the country went to hell. Can you really be that stupid to not see that?

You NEED the investment but your ego prevents you from even admitting that.

The answer is simple - don't invest!

Sure I will call the heads of states and the IMF and let them know...what are you on about? Simple? Hah.

We don`t need your cares...

You need our money. Without foreign investment you would be living in the dark ages. Get off your ego trip and accept your place in the world. You are not going to be in charge that's just life.

Genealogy / If your ancestors were in the "Wehrmacht"... [217]

Sorry, English is my second language, it may come across rather rough.

You are just trying to hard. Speak simply and clearly rather than trying to sound so "smart". Poles have a habit of trying to choose complicated words rather than just getting to the point. Simple is much better for communication :)

Life / Feeling ashamed of my Polish heritage. [237]

And why is that ?
To tell you the truth I couldn't care less!

Well since you don't care I will skip answering your question ;)

The "world" won't be kissing Poland's arse ever, that is a fantasy of the extremists.

People are not beating down Poland's doors to live their either. In fact cheap labor and the EU backdoor are the only reason the international community cares about Poland at all.
