Real Estate / Are Mortgage brokers licenced in Poland? Can anyone become an real estate agent? [18]

Is there an authority such as the UK's 'Financial Services Authority' that approves or licences mortgage advisors or brokers in Poland, or can anyone set themselves up to sell mortgages?

If there is such an authority, would it be the firm that was approved or the individual broker?

Anyone???

Law / Certificate of no impediment - Single Status - UK Getting Married in Poland [24]

My certificate supplied in July 2009 said 'Single' and it was accepted no problem by the registry office in Krakow.

You will have to get an official translation made of the document, if you're still worried mention it to the translator and he/she may translate 'single' as 'bachelor' for you.

Feedback / A Personal Request to all PF members [119]

Excellent first post Lodz, and replies too especially dhrynio.

I'm a regular reader here and occasional contributor, but I find myself viewing the site less frequently because of certain trolls that come here purely to wind people up. I'm an ex-pat Brit living and working in Poland, I love this country and hate to see people doing it down on a forum where most visitors probably assume contributors are all Polish.

Life / St Patrick's day in Poland [272]

The Irish Arms in Krakow is a good'n too, owned by the same fella mentioned above.

They've got a 4 day party planned, traditional Irish folk band from the Emerald Isle flying in just for the big event! Céilidh session Saturday night, open mic Sunday.

Law / UK driving license mess in Poland [72]

As long as you have an address in UK that you can use for correspondence (Parents, family etc) then just apply for the renewal with a change of address.

In March 2010 PBP Orbis was sold by Orbis SA to Central European Tour Operator (owned by Enterprise Investors fund).

Travel / Cheapest and quickest route from Wales to Poland by car? [11]

You don't tell us whereabouts in Poland they are heading, it makes a big difference to the best route, and also the advice.

For many areas I'd recommend Dover to Dunkirk, then a virtual straight run to Berlin then it depends which city in Poland you want to go to. No tolls at all on this route, apart from the Severn Bridge (I forget whether you pay going into or out of Wales) and the Dartford crossing.

History / Should David Irving, Holocaust denier, be allowed to run tours to Poland? [246]

It seems that the, formerly convicted, British Holocaust denier David Irving is starting to run tours to former nazi concentration camps and other sites in Poland.

The Nigdy Więcej (Never Again) anti-racist organisation have called for 'Holocaust denier' British historian David Irving to be banned from entering Poland later this month.

Starting September 27, Irving is leading a tour party, with tickets costing around 1,500 euros each, taking in sites including the Treblinka death camp, Warsaw Ghetto and Hitler's Bunker in the Masurian lake district.
