Opinions of some deluded Belgians notwithstanding, most Poles don't really care about your skin color or ethnicity.It can look like that to some people, because playing a racist card hardly works here. Nonsense. Cyrillic was never used in Poland. Even the oldest relics of Polish writings are using Latin alphabet. Including the famous "Dać ać ja pobruczę a ty poczywaj" from XIII century - the first sentence written in Polish.

Earlier, all documents have been written in Latin, except for the names of towns, and sutch, that were written phonetically. First example so called "Geograf bawarski" from IX century, the list of Polish tribes.

The only time the Cyrillic was seriously considered to become Polish alphabet, it was during partitioning, at 1852. Back then, Russian tzar, Mikołaj I Romanow, planned to force Poles to adopt Cyrillic, in order to further russification of Kingdom of Poland.

Delph, and I know someone who probably got a cancer. Waited more then half a year for a doctor to see him. Then got send to MRI imaginig. Waited half a year for his turn. After geting the results, he waited more then half a year, untill doctor could have seen these results. Doctor was not sure, so he have send him for the biopsy. For the biopsy, there was also a queue. Almost a year. He finally got the results of the biopsy, and now is waiting for the doctor to see it. Another half a year. Judging by his looks by now, I dont think he is going to live that long.

The seatbelts are just constrainig and uncomfortable. And the law demanding to wear it, it is downright stupid. As i have said, it is my life and my decision. If I decide to jump, head first, from the roof of 10th floor building, it is my buisness too, and no one's else.

You know, in USA, there is more swearing on TV. In PL, there is more swearing in real life. Even educated, rich Poles use to say Kur*wa and Pierdo*le, more filthy language then black gangsta in US.

While I do find it iritating, that despite having no criminal record etc, despite fulfilling all the requirements for owning a gun, some random policeman have decided that I "don't really need it".

On the other hand, American style gun ownnership? Is it good for defence? I don't think so. Without guns, if I am being attacked by some thugs, I do stand some chance to defend myself, or to escape. But, if both I and them, are armed though... I am dead meat, no point to even try to run away.

Also, I can imagine football hooligans, going down the street, shooting theirs shotguns at random cars, or windows, if one can just buy long gun in a shop.

As it is now, even the "dedicated" criminals, that would be able to illegally acquire a gun, may choose not to, as owning the gun, that say, was found during random search in his house, is enough to send him into prison.

The thing is, America had had a cenuries to get used to gun ownage, to develop a gun culture. That would eventually happen in Poland as well. But the process of getting there, it would be rather painfull decades.

As for home invasion, if it ever happens to me, I have prepared... well let me just call it a blunt weapon. And I'd feel much safer wielding my blunt weapon against thugs armed with, say, knives, then shooting a gun at the bandit, who shoots back.

Hovever, I'd not mind if there was clear set of requirements, very harsh ones, for geting a gun license. As it is now, even if you fulfilled them with flying colors, it is still up to police' whim if they grant the license to you or not. 99% of the cases, you dont get it anyway, no explanation given.

Pawian, 2050? Are you crazy? I refuse to suffer today because some decades from now, "maybe", just "maybe", it bring something good. Because it never does. Whatever profit my today's hadrship would bring, it will be, without any doubt, wasted by government anyway. Politicians have the infinite ability to sqander resources. So better we consume it today, instead of leting the government to waste it tomorrow.

Anyway, no one I know is going to vote for PO ever again. Even people who hate PiS, Palikot and so on, intend to go to vote against PO. For whom we'll vote it is a secondary matter, at best.

As far as I am concerned, Poland is for (the sake of) Poles, not Poles for Poland

PiS or Palikot, unless something new shows up. I am not fond of either, but there is not much to choose from. SLD is out of the question, since Belka and "his" tax, I consider them enemies, and PO just defined themselves as my enemies as well, since they decided that I should not live long enough to get the retirement.

They may think that people are going to forget long before next elections. But Poles have long memory, it was not a coincidence, that the last election SLD had won, it was just before they introduced Belka's tax.

But this is not the point. The point is, Poland, instead of blindly following foreign patterns, we must strive to regain our Golden Freedom. What is the govenment? What is the state? It is a structure that lets some people to rule the others. Most notably, the ones that govern - these are the few, the ones that are governed - thouse are the many; so the structure of the state can be drawed as a piramid, or turned upside down tree.

This shape is always the same, it does not matter if it is dictatorial state like Soveit Union, stright out monarchy out of middle ages, or USA-like demokracy. If you are going to tell me that calling up an elections, once in a while, makes any difference, I'll respond: For the state, there is no difference, no matter who sits on the top, the top still exists, there are rulers and ruled. There is always a human above you, usless you are a king or president.

They say, that Poles had once lost theirs state, because of anarchy-like behaviour of our nobles. But I prefere to see it as a side effect of Polish feature that I find most possitive, side effect of deep rooted yerning, to free the man from the tyranny of the state. As a matter of fact, one would be hard pressed to find a nation being more in love with that idea.

Pawian, if you have not grown up in Poland, you are not going to understand that.

How can we to liberate ourselvs from the state? Neither democracy (as I explained in earlier post) nor anarchy holds the answer. Why not the anarchy? If the nation dont have the military forces strong enough to defend the land against the neighbourning countries, it will fall prey to the neighbours' militaries along with its freedom's ideals, then will be forced into the alien structures of these states. Neither the answer are all sorts of socialisms/communisms, even if it would be possible to make them work along the noble theories. As long as there is just one non-socialist country, opposed to groups of individuals freed from the serfdom to the state, they'll willy-nilly have to organise themselves into structures and classes anew.

That is the problem Polish people should work on: how to protect the people and the land against the foreign states, without creating the state of our own?

The role of the government, and other state' structures, would have to be taken by some sort of non-state. Without agents, commisaries, tax collectors, policemen, judges and ministers. Cross-society decisions, foreign policy, economic reforms, criminal law would come into force not because of one or another sort of government, with whatever coercing power - but because it has been inevitable resolution. There is no State in the Nature. The caterpillar is transforming itself into the butterfly not becouse the president, or the parliment of the insects enacted that transformation decree, but because this resolution is natural, necessary, and the only possible.

OK, so joking aside, what today gets lumped into the general term of "racism" is hardly hatered anymore. More times then not, it is more along the lines of contempt, or mere wariness.

One cannot expect to anticipate the behaviour of people rised in a different culture. Some ethnicities are more prone to violent reactions then other. Businessmen from certain ethinicities are more probable to to try to deceit you. Colsing ones eyese on these realities "because it would be racist" I consider plain stupid, no offence intended.

I do beliveve that healthy dose of xenophobia (without going over the top) should be encouraged, despite the clamour made by self appointed PC-Police. It keeps societies safe and self sustained. If it was working good for our fathers, and our fathers' fathers, so it should be good for us.
