Travel / Dinner place suggestion in Krakow [17]

Here is a review about a restaurant called Scandale Royal----" We spent an evening few days ago and the food was delicious!! starter, main course, and dessert... we were enchanted! After a dinner we sat down by the bar to order a drink, we decided to try something new and asked a bartender what he recommends. How surprised we were, when he started to ask what we like and then he made a drink that was exactly as we wanted!!!!! I would recommed this place to all! " Looks like a place that may be worth a try.

Travel / Mushroom picking in spring in Poland? [35]

The best Polish mushrooms for me are the "Prawdziwki"---They give lots of favour to any soup or dish being cooked.

Food / What's your favorite Polish coffee? [73]

The reason why the same cofee taste different than in the U.S is that most coffee consumed in Poland comes from Africa and Indonesia, rather than Latin America, which produces weaker-flavored varieties. Despite a TV advertising blitz pushing instant coffee (on which coffee companies make the biggest profits), ground coffee still accounts for 83% of sales in Poland

Food / Does beer have any "real" expire date? [39]

can't be any different like, when a bottle of wine is opened and sits for a while.Soon there is sediment at the bottom of the bottle.nothing wrong with the wine--run it thru a coffee filter and you have a nice ,clear bottle of wine.I've done it many times and I am still here.

Food / Does beer have any "real" expire date? [39]

Yeast or hops???? All I know is, beer is good and refreshing and with a beer fridge in my rec room,I really don't have it to worry about the settling on the bottom of the bottle.

News / Is it possible that Polish president was assasinated? If so then, by whom? [921]

Actually Joe---I think you're going to find that after checking the audio tapes of the cockpit recorder that Kaczynski---like he's done before---over-ruled the pilot and after 4 tries to land ,he told the pilot to go for it because he was going to be late for the ceremonies. No murder-no terrorism---the plane wasn't even on course and if he landed ,it would have been on grass and not the tarmac.he was way off course from the runway.

News / Polish President Lech Kaczynski and gov officials die in a plane crash in Russia [682]

you're digging too deep because of the prevoius history between Poland and Russia. The Last information that has come out is that the pilots were landing too low and too fast. They were told to abort and did not reply. The plane hit the top of a tree line and crashed.!!!. Note---"Although air traffic controllers generally have the final say in whether it's safe for a plane to land, they can leave the decision to the pilot's discretion. There are reports that the pilot made several attempts at a landing before the plane struck some trees on its approach and crashed."

"In the Polish government, the president is commander in chief of the country's armed forces, but the domestic duties of the role are mainly symbolic. Kaczynski, 60, had been president since December 2005".The duties of running the country are still with the Prime Minister---who is Donald Tusk

Food / Traditional Polish Soups. [74]

Here is an exerpt what I found---"We tend to associate snails with France, but there is a historic snail-eating culture in Britain dating back at least 2,000 years. And in Somerset in the Sixties, the chef Paul Leyton popularised snails further when he invented Mendip Wallfish, a dish in which they are cooked with butter and herbs. But you can use snails in many other ways – with, say, wild rabbit cooked in cider, or like this, as a soup garnish."
