Food / Bekon or boczek? [21]

Its' like comparing apples to oranges.there is a big difference in the cut of meat for bacon and back bacon.Bacon is very fatty and back bacon is mostly meat.

Food / Bologna & onions in Poland? [44]

Then you wanna try bologna on one slice of bread and processed cheese on another slice.Put them both in the oven on grille till cheese is melting and then put them together, add your favourite condiment--i.e.mustard ,onions, peppers, etc. This is one good tasting sandwich!!!!

You gotta know how to drink this stuff.First---you exhale ---then drink the shot of spirytus--and lastly--drink a little water for a chaser. As for sake----say no more--give me a shot of spirytus anyday.

Food / Siemieniotka [14]

here is something I found on soup called "siemieniotka" which is prepared from hemp seed (siemie) with buckwheat groats (kasza gryczana). Hemp seeds used for this soup are hard to find anywhere outside Silesia and any other time except the Christmas season.

Food / No Vernor's ginger ale in Poland? [29]

I think it's because of it's distinct taste. Not too many people like it even here in North America.I can't see myself even using it as a mixer but I do enjoy the flavour once in a while.

Last time I was in Poland I came upon the same problem---warm beer---so when I was visiting family in the small towns and wjoski,I decided to try cooling off the beer in the studnia (well).I'd put the beer in the water bucket and let the beer sit in the ice cold water.Voila!!!!I had cold beer .It worked so well that to this day they still keep on doing it.

Food / WHY IN POLAND PEOPLE DON'T USE ICE? [142]

Here in Canada we have fridges that make ice and store it.No need for plastic trays--pouring water in them-breaking ice apart. It's all done automatically. What a good invention!!!!!No bother ---no fuss
