Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2779]

Chemikim, people are getting shot regardless.

No. Nobody is being shot in Poland. Poland is Not America,

Criminals have guns and always will have them.

No. Criminals do not use guns to commit crime in Poland.

Anyway being killed is being killed - doesn't really matter what has been used to do the deed. Its an irrational fear of guns.

Nobody is being killed by criminals in Poland. Crimes of passion or suicide is it.

The chance of dying in a car accident is 10,000 times more likely that the chance of suffering a criminal death by gun fire in Poland.

The chance of being injured in a car is hundreds of thousands of times more likely than gun crime in Poland.

So why the **** are you not demanding that cars are banned and refuse to leave your home ?

The right of self defense? I realize British people don't believe in self-defense but Americans (and I think Poles) do.

Defense from who or what? There is NO chance that any criminal will go to a house armed with a gun. I have never spoken to a European who fears armed criminals and feels the need to be armed to 'defend' themselves.

Here's my brother-in-Laws gun collection. Notice the lack of personal protection weapons. I offered to buy him a pistol as a present, his response was why, WTF use is that for? There is nothing in Poland that requires protection from.

He got a license, he loves guns and can buy a pistol, but there is absolutely no reason for him to do so.

although this loose group of citizens were under armed and under trained the command structure was strong, If under this spirit we could build a force like this for the protection of Poland it could only be a good thing.

Afghanistan isn't a good example, the terrain is extremely difficult for modern military to operate, its very good for poor armed insurgents to operate.

Poland, on the other hand, is perfect tank and helicopter country. Poorly armed militia is useless in this situation, we need very well armed professionals and well trained militia. Artillery, mortars, anti-tank guide missiles, SAM's are the minimum.

Polands professional army are short of their needs. There isn't much for a Home Army and leaving them to fight with the 'right to bear arms' weapons (rifles and pistols) is pointless and suicidal.

People didn't use to get their heads cut off, blown up and raped in public either.

Not that its relevant, but in Poland its doesn't happen now.

I seems to me it's you who are trying to say what's good for Polish ppl even thought you are not even a resident in this country.

And he knows nothing about Poland either.

The Polish people understand that they are not as safe as they once were. (Especially when NATO pulls out)

And he supports the destruction of Nato with his pro Trump views

Language / Learn Polish or Russian [86]

Seems a tad provincial on your part! After all, no single country "owns" their language.

You seem to be completely unaware of Russia's policy of claiming ownership of Russian speakers and the countries that they reside. This was the justification of the invasion of Ukraine, Georgia and the threats made against Belorussian, Kazakhstan and the Baltic states.

Russia will 'protect' Russian speakers by invading their host countries, that is Russia's often stated policy and it matches the claims made by Hitler to justify the invasion of Austria, Czechoslovakia and Poland.

Why do you think Nato has beefed-up security in the East?

What should Russians speak instead?

Russians in Russia should speak Russian, other nations should stick to their national language unless they want to be invaded. Belorussian, Ukraine and Kazakhstan are moving away from Russian because of the threat.

They may know enough English for their job, but certainly appreciate being spoken with in their native tongue:-)

The point is that English is the second language of choice for young Poles and those emigrated. Not Russian.

you call for eradication of ethnic group and accuse others of being fascist in the same post.nice standards you got there bro

Its a language not an ethnic group. Thats why the language should be eradicated, because a fascist state have used the Russian language to claim ownership of Russian speakers.

Poles living and working within the EU, most of whom have limited English skills.

Most are in the UK and Ireland and most speak pretty good English

what is good about your hatred of a language?

It is very difficult to 'eradicate' a language that is the speakers' both native and official tongue (Belarus)

Hating a language is justified when that language is used as a justification on invasion by a fascist dictatorship.Which is why both countries are moving away from Russian due to the threat to their security from the Russian empire. And yes it can be eradicated the same way it was imposed - by force.

Bull. And you are forgetting Belarus and Ukraine - which will only grow.

Russian is being eradicated in both countries due to the filthy association of the Russian threat to those countries.

your Russo phobia is showing through.

What wrong with having a hatred of Russian? there is NOTHING good about the country. Its a wasteland and will never improve.

UK, Ireland / Baby father doesn't know English but wants to go for the British citizenship [76]

we end up going to Poland what happens to me?

Who said you will be allowed in Poland? As a non-EU citizen you won't have any rights. Maybe Poland would give you a one month holiday visa, nobody knows.

You would have to learn Polish if you wanted to live and work in Poland.

You would have to, as an unskilled builder he would return along with several hundred thousand other Poles and there will be no work. Either go to another EU country (you would have to learn that language) or sit at home in his village drinking vodka from your 500pln a child.

Have another baby, 1000pln vodka money and he is sorted.

Poland shares a border with Russia, yet its trade ties are tiny and falling all the time. Russia is not important or geopolitically relevant outside its small mind..

Nope, is a useless language unless you want to visit a impoverished dictatorship.

And its a disappearing language, the population who speak it is shrinking by 10million per decade.

UK, Ireland / Baby father doesn't know English but wants to go for the British citizenship [76]

He has to PROVE he has lived here for 5 years, with restrictions on when he was out of the UK. a record of dates in and out is required.

Has to have good character (referees required), no criminal record and paid all taxes etc.
Has to pass the English test unless he is over 65 or brain damaged.

Then he can get citizenship. Being the father of your child isn't relevant as you aren't even married. After Brexit, I expect we would leave/dump the EHR (European Human Rights) so any rights would entirely up to the UK government.

And the one thing that will block citizenship and the right to stay is not speaking English - because it stops you taking part in and contributing to British society.
