Anyway, this is a Polish Forum, not an Ethiopian one, so I will curb my comments and just feel silently sorry for anyone so ignorant as the above.
Poland has plenty of food and do not have to split a piece of rice for dinner like ethiopia.

yes I know that the terms are subject to debate, I didnt create them, they are just the latest development jargon. The South is meant to refer to the fact that the majority of the developing nations are south of the equator (but clearly not all of them) and of course there are many differences in terms of which countries actually are developing faster than others, but generalisation is inevitable if we are to lump together so many different countries. DRC has its troubles for sure, but I am sure there are some who would argue that it is a process of development, albeit hampered by political corruption and war, not to mention natural disasters.

having been to both quite recently I can say that they have little in common apart from their histories of communism.
I would also like to add that the term 3rd world is outdated and derogatory. Countries formerly known as 3rd world, should be more correctly termed as 'the South' or if you must, the developing nations. I wish more people would bother to travel to these countries as it might make them realise that their perceptions are so wrong.
Why must we label Poland, or any other country for that matter as 1st, 2nd or 3rd..if you really want to look at the bigger picture then there are various indicators that can be used to measure economic wealth.
so if you were to compare Poland with a country like Ethiopia, you would find them similar???

exactly. Im off to Ethiopia today, which is apparantly where coffee originated.. they have traditional coffee ceremonies where they roast the beans in front of you whilst waving around incense.. and not a Starbucks in sight. Damn shame I dont drink coffee :)

thats cos they have lots of money to expand all over the world by overcharging for their products. Imo they are the devils spawn and are a threat to the real coffee shops, i.e. local ones. If there are no Starbucks in Poland, you should be happy.

Brighton is nice.. its a seaside town that is only 1 hour by train from London. It has a nice vibe, there are lots of English schools there and its a popular place for foreign students. My advice would be to go in the Summer.. maybe July/August if possible as you could take advantage of the best weather, although April/May should still be OK, just not beach weather. Sorry, I dont know the names of the language schools, but you can easily find out through a google search.

nice tactic.. if I didnt hate ironing I would try it. Theres always the charity shop when you live together.. you just say you have no idea what happened to that particular item of clothing :)
my b/f brought a pair of white jeans up one weekend - I offered to iron then and accidently got a rather large black mark on them, they havent seen the light of day again!

I dont think you can at this early stage without hurting his feelings and possibly putting him off you.. I would suggest taking a shower together before you sleep with him..
As far as the clothes thing goes, remember its whats underneath that counts. I do remember my bf having a pair of jeans that were horrible and I just used to look at them in disgust til he asked me what was wrong and I said that I was sorry but I didnt think they suited him and he looked much better in another pair. At first he was adamant that he liked them, but after one more wear I never saw them again. When I asked him why, he said that he appreciated my fashion advice. I then started buying him clothes that I liked or pointing out other guys who looked good in certain things, either on TV or friends or even in the street. However, be careful what you wish for as in my case he is now even more obsessed with clothes than me and is wardrobe is constantly expanding.

I dont think nationality has anything to do with how often you shower. My partner showers twice a day normally.. he told me that when he was growing up they only had a tin bath in front of the fire and you were only allowed in it once a week cos of water shortages.. so guess hes making up for that now

sorry this is slightly off-topic, but I feel compelled to respond to this. I dont think you can even compare the airports in the UK to those in the States for levels of intimidation and agression.. I feel really stressed every time I have to pass through Miami, Houston or any other US airport due to the agressive nature of the customs people.. I guess its all down to cultural differences and what you are used to. Somebody was shouting at me to back up and I had no idea what they were talking about.... anyway I could go on, but this is not the place for it....to get back on thread, my Polish partner likes English women :)

some people just dont get the donkey's sense of humour.
I dont like the weather there, it rains a lot... and I went to a beautiful campsite where the owners were so rude it was truly unbelievable.. they clearly hated English people, yet they were running a tourist business.. lots of people went there every year just because of the location, but said that the family who ran the site were always horrible to English people. They wont be getting my money again.

Ryanair have some good deals from London to Krakow and other cities at present. they are 1p plus tax. Average price is around £35 return if you travel on certain days and off peak times.

i have no problem with polish people but something needs to be done with the amout coming here it's just not acceptable .after talking with many brits i've summarised that the vast majority feel this way

Thank you for this post. My partner has gone to Poland this week to visit his departed and non-departed loved ones. This has helped me to understand more about the significance of this time. I have seem similar things in other countries.. In Mexico Day of the Dead is very popular, but I wasnt sure if it was the same as in Poland.
