News / Anti semtism at Polish Congress [57]

Maybe most of the Jews just picked up the pieces and moved on but most of Poles are living in the past joining the small (but loud) margin of 'sorry' Jewish victims?

So these poor taste Jewish jokes said by a Jewish comedian would be fine by you in Germany (or anywhere for that matter)??

Guess what, most of this types of jokes are delivered by Jewish comedians. Do you watch the Comedy channel now and then? :)

Off-Topic / Being a Slav: a blessing or a curse? [199]

I am not the product of the society.

You are. No need to deny. Your mom and papa thought you the first rules of life. Then, came the teachers in grammar school, high school, college..whatever.

Then it came the work enivironment..etc.

but I also built my own

Exactly, you do. Take the best of what you learned and then the best of what you encountered in real life. Combine them, draw conclusions and be you.

You see, all people draw their own conclusions and that's why we're different.
When you are are part of society - granted - you'll be judged. You might be the fun person living next door or you could be the the boring person living next door. It is up to you how to present yourself.

Getting back on topic, do you want to present yourself as the Slavic romantic soul (Crow comes to mind) or you are the person who looks around and recognizes reality. I read a lot of BS theory here on PF. It is reality which counts in everyday life.

No one can challenge that without facing miserable defeat :)

It sound defiant. No matter what YOU think, it matters what others think about YOU. This is the world standard. YOU are the product of the society which brought you to this world, who educated you and who has the right to judge based on the standards. Am I clear? :)

Don't even dare to talk about Slavs like that...

That's where you are wrong. EVERY ethnicity has a share of dumb. And, if you deny it - you are not living in reality. Not everybody everywhere is educated, not everybody everywhere has the same experiences you did.

Good is questionable state of being. You might be good in your own eyes and your close relationships, but bad when viewed by other people. The standards and the perception of YOU varies.

News / MORE ANTI-POLISH SENTIMENT IN GERMANY [280]

Aaah... Europe and its petty ethnic/national pride. Take it easy. You should hear American comedians. Nothing is left to wonder about... insults about blacks, people from the South, Mexicans...Italians...Americans... Arabs...irish, English...Poles...anything goes. So, just laugh, you know who you are and you are NOT PERFECT! The more you show that you are insulted, the less you know about yourself or live in denial. There is no ethnicity that's not talked about and made fun of. Laugh and the worlds will laugh with you, cry...and more people will laugh at you. I think a lot of Poles are taking the jokes too personally for no reason. Sure, they want to laugh at everybody also but themselves. Grow up.

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

Aphro, it is too late now and let the pigeons become parents, but make sure that you throw out the nest as soon as the chick hatches and flies out of the nest. Or, you may have a balcony full of lice. It happened to me once in the past. I enjoyed watching the family of pigeons on the balcony and when they left I sat outside and read a magazine. All of a sudden I started itching and when i looked closely, the balcony was crawling with lice. I ran inside, got a bucket of water with bleach and started washing. You see, most wild birds have lice and they stay in a nest when they have the birds to feed on. When the birds left, the lice started to look for another host.

The pigeons came back next year to make a nest and I was chasing them away for a week or two, and did not allow them to settle on my balcony again. Oh, well... they finally gave up and flew away.

I seem to fight with birds just about every spring. Recently, two sparrows in love discovered that my grill would be just perfect to bring their babies into the world...we have a game now, they bring grass, sprigs, feathers - and i throw them away...I feel bad for them but there are plenty of trees and garages around. My grill is not IT!

Off-Topic / So...which of you are actually IN Poland? [41]

Well, so what is keeping you in UK then instead of being in Poland? It must be easier in UK then, just like it is easier for me in USA... :)

Then, again, it is easier for many foreigners to live in Poland, go figure.

I can understand that it is much cheaper for western people to live in Poland, but easier? Wouldn't the everyday bureaucracy kill any entrepreneur spirit? Unless, as a foreigner you make a pretty decent salary and don't need to struggle with any type of business arrangements. The people of Polish extraction come to mind.

That's OK Jonny. I think the foreigners add a lot of spice to Poland. I like it and it's about time that other nationalities 'discover' Poland as a great place to live - no matter what the reason is. I never ever in my life expected it to happen.

No wonder the Admin said in in another thread that most posts come from Poland. Phew! Foreigners living in Poland...why is it? Is Poland for you now like America for Poles is (was)? hehehe.

Life / Has anyone in Poland that you know been affected by H1N1? (swine flu) [44]

And the HAN shoot contains:
chimerical, a mercury-based preservative used in the manufacturing of multi dose vaccines, sodium chloride, dis odium hydrogen phosphate, potassium hydrogen phosphate, potassium chloride and water. As mentioned, there are traces of egg protein, and also of formaldehyde, sodium dioxalate and sucrose.

I don't know why would anybody want to put this stuff in their body. Eat right, boost up your immune system with veggies, fruit, grains etc., and you'll beat H1N1 without poisoning your body, especially kids. This flue shot campaign is such a scam.

I wonder if anybody here got one...

News / Irena Kwiatkowska died on March 3, 2011 [14]

RIP, Irena. I remember her a little from 'Wesoly Autobus' and 'Podwieczorek przy Mikrofonie"(?), although, I don't think I understood her jokes at that time, regrettably.

I wonder what I find next time I log in...the self destruct button sounds good.

USA, Canada / Poles and American Poles. What do you think about those two groups and their interactions. [85]

My suggestion to skysoulmate and other peeople of American Polonia who feel hurt by comments of delphie is just to ignore him.

Most people ignore delphi or get angry with him. Anyway, he has a need to draw attention to himself by being disrespectful.

I don't give a **** about political agenda of Chicago Polonia.

well, maybe you should give a f**k and care more. Using f words make you a typical close-minded scared little person.

distrust between the American Poles and the British Poles.

never came across one until this forum. :)

it would seem unlikely that their political alliances have changed very much.

That was the case in the last century and the kids of peasants are 3rd, 4th generation Americans. The immigrants of late 70's and throught the 80's were highly educated. A huge loss for Poland.

Keep the **** out of Polish elections unless you live here, is my motto.

In all fairness, I agree with this statement.

There's nothing in-between. If you don't knock it off I'll start calling you a Russian ****** wannabe or whatever name I can find that's derogatory.

Nice try sky but you can not reason with russki born to immigrants in the west. I bet his life was much more miserable than the life of a kid born in America. He was kicked around plenty, hence the anger and a need for derogatory comments. He treats PF as his free therapy to vent his anger.

I wouldn't say that Poles don't like Poles in America, they just don't understand each other!

Exactly, and that's why they don't like each other. Of course, i don't mean each and everyone but most Polonuses tend to feel superior immediately after landing at O'Hare, not to mention the ones born here. Then they start to treat their little cousins in Poland like they don't know what's good for them (elections). That's what I see and the media doesn't help either.

I think that part of the problem is simply ignorance - if they're told all sorts of nonsense by their family

Why don't you apply this statement to yourself. What kind of stories your бабушка (babooshka) told you? lol.

USA, Canada / Poles and American Poles. What do you think about those two groups and their interactions. [85]

I don't think there is any animosity between Polish people in Poland and those abroad.

Do you know the political agenda of Chicago Polonia? It has not much to do with with Poland. It's a society of mutual admiration which does very little. All they know how to do - is to spoil elections in Poland. They try to save Poland but most of them barely speak polish (PNC comes to mind). The radio or the papers misrepresent the life in Poland and feed polonians with their version of the truth.

You right, there is no animosity between family members who left and who stayed.

Poles and American Poles. What do you think about those two groups and their interactions?

'Polish' Poles don't like the American Poles and vice versa, that's a fact. Why? Beats me. Jealous maybe? But why? We left because we wanted a better life, you stayed because you did not have the opportunity, or love Poland for better or worse. Those who left might be better off financially but miss Poland; those who stayed might struggle more but live close to the family. It's about choices. And yes, our political views changed abroad too. We got to see the other side of politics. In my case, I left them behind.

Amazing that a Russian who's writing on a Polish forum has opinions on racism in America. Russia, the country whose citizens throughout many centuries have murdered more people on earth than any other nation ever even "dreamed" of, wow.

Yeah, David_18 is a perfect example of one side media brainwash.

USA, Canada / Expat Poles swearing allegiance to the US - how did you feel? [157]

If the US were to go war against Poland for whatever reason, and Polish-Americans suddenly became conscientious objectors, they'd probably get shot by their neighbors.

I worry about it when it happens. Anyway, my neighbors most likely don't have a clue about such clause. Then, by the time we get rounded up...put through the court system...etc., the war will be over :)

I will never support obamacare, never!

I'm with you. I hope that it never gets fully implemented even though the law was passed. Better yet, the thousands of pages they came up with should be shredded.
