Life / The Polish Wedding - What is it Like in Poland? [338]

?.......... Who are you quoting?

we start loosing our traditions

if your talking about America, the Traditions Krysia is talking about might be from
english weddings, America isnt all Polish, dont forget theres a number of traditions
that actually are the same in some ways and different in some ways. I do believe
it is english wedding. another thing, one of my co-workers said, which is true
that people only knock down things they never experienced. I am so glad I dont
come in here and say bad things about Poland, but again, I dont feel that way
personally so I have nothing against something I never experienced.

America may not be for everybody, but dont step on your friends toes if you know
what I mean.

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

I personally like their sensitivity and empathy most. maybe that's what makes them so beatiful ?

maxx, this can be any woman as long as she is brought up right.

you can take someone who is drop dead gorgeous and she might still have a
noodle missing, cant cook and really dont care if you get dinner or eat dog food
catch my drift :)

lots of nationalities have beautiful women, and it all boils down to getting to know
someone and truely feeling that special feeling. :)

And my dear brother is there , arent you :)

Life / Why are Poles always so miserable? Why do they never smile? [512]

I think that they are unhappy because they know that their jobs are unimportant so they have no motivation.

Michal, what gave you that bright conclusion? anyone in any job that doesnt pay
is bound to be bitter. why would you come on a polish site and spew garbage?

every man and womans dream is to become something. circumstances in family
or personal reason can set back goals of young perspectives who already have
been accepted into elite colleges. not sent to harvard by mommy and daddy
and had their way all their lives.

one thing I always said, book smart is great, common sense to keep your
hurtful comments to yourself , some just dont have it.

I have heard this saying more often than their national Anthem. A very sad country with so many dishonest people.

studying law and he generalizes. I hope you dont do that in court

dishonest hmm, thats sad that you would think all of Poland is dishonest.
hopefully no one polish enters the courtroom with you in it. they surely go to jail.

if you go back in time. I think my intuition would tell me that alot happened
to poland over the last few centuries and right now they are heading for the
light dont you think? maybe they stole the light? being so dishonest.

Genealogy / Why are some Polish people dark complected, and others very light [511]

It's my belief that America owes the descendants of black slaves the 40 acres and 1 mule they were promised by Congress.

Correction Govt. many Americans are Immigrants which had no direct involvment
in slavery, or stealing lands. so lets be more specific, because I am polish and
sorry, but I am not paying for something my family never even came remotely close
to being involved in . I understand their past, and history changed alot since then
I dont think the african community suffered as much as poland did which happened
60 plus years ago and the comparison cant be even measured to. do I think they
deserve something now? Yes, respect as everyone does, do I think Poland deserves
more ( Hell yes) because they had much more loss, slaves in America might have
suffered, but nothing like in Europe. I would rather pick cotton and serve a master
then die in a gas chamber naked with my whole family next to me and knowing
your last breath would be minutes from that last thought.

I have no problems with people celebrating a national movement to secure their
rights as they should have them living in America, WHen I hear such stories it makes
me upset, because I feel its wrong to live here and someone dictate what drinking
fountain you can drink out of, but that is nothing compared to walking outside on
a street and soldiers hold up guns pointed at you or someone in your family and
take the children away sending them on trains far away from their parents while
these people get shot in streets and I could go on, so no, I dont feel they deserve
40 acres and 1 mule, this is 2007 and as Poland had to move on with bitterness
in their hearts, and memorials standing in every place where a mass grave was
dug, I think that the african Americans should move on too.

I give only my respect to those who make efforts to improve their lives in a
constructive way, this goes for any nation willing to go the distance to make their
lives better their own way, because life doesnt give handouts, we all know that!

USA, Canada / What kind of American food do Poles like most? [80]

No many recipes that are American, but I would suggest for a larger crowd
Barbaque Spareribs, or country style, depending on how many. but you could
cook them inside and par boil and then bake in oven with pineapple on them
with some sauce.

I think that would go over well as they are tender. Baked beans goes well with them
and good ole american Potato salad ,or even amish Potato salad.

stuffed shells is also a great idea with a nice ceaser salad and garlic bread.

its hard to really say these are just American dishes, because I dont know when
they came about, but these are some of the things eaten here, so when they
were created who knows, I dont really think we have true american dishes
because everyone came from europe and other countries and most of what we
eat are combined dishes .

if anything is American is the good ole hotdog. dont think you want to serve that
unique dish :) lol less your heading for a baseball game afterwards :)

Genealogy / I'm polish and have a darker complexion - WHY? [78]

Sedzia, europe awake, do you want yet another thread closed because you are
stalking his every move just to try and make him leave?

can we all be civilized and just get along?

Jose, I can see their points on some issues, so I dont blame them as to having some
type of anger, whether its a forum or any place else, we should try to refrain from
saying things which we truely dont mean. maybe your anger at some of the posts
became an issue, its escalating and frankly getting irritating on all of your parts.

Aplogies would be welcome but not expected, but it would show the bigger man/
woman in this situation!

again I say all of you please find your dam happy place!! la la la!!

Genealogy / I'm polish and have a darker complexion - WHY? [78]

I know more about history, mathematics, science, geography and current events than the majority of your precious white race. In America they are as dumb as beans."

Jose, this might be a little confusing. being a teacher, I think this could have been
re-worded so to speak. I dont have anything against constructive debate, but
I do know when anger speaks . So by that, I think this could have triggered some
confusion and we all need to remember we cannot possibly understand each others
lives, reading books VS experience.

"Any problems in the black community are the fault of the white man"

Again, Jose, we cant blame just White man. when generalizing its easy for someone
to get upset because a great deal of Immigrants who are White, never owned, bought
or enslaved anyone.

And again, I can only say, govt was to blame for alot, People with power , used that
power and down in the southern section of the states, we all know even law
enforcement was involved.

History / Poland's January Uprisings of 1863 [76]

January uprisings of 1863 , one of my possible family members sent to siberia and I would like to know what or where I would find information on Siberia about the polish citizens who were sent there.

I think I have to say now, that long before Germany had a hold on Poland, Russia was doing some of their own dirty work, which I didnt have a clear understanding about. Reading the names of those who were exiled it has enlighted my thoughts on agreeing with those who say Russia should owe up!!

let me also refrase this as well, I believe like others who have mentioned this before that Russia's Govt should Apologize and do something to show they are the good nation now after all the crap they put poland thru as well as Germany, what would it hurt to become closer to a nation they had taken so much from?

as if this thread will get a response, because it doesnt have anything to do with just talking, but these people were shipped to SIBERIA!! more then 17,000 actually Whole towns of people!!

:) :)

"Big boys" like Russia or USA don't apologize.

How do u figure USA dont?

just some examples..

government of Russia is as good

Well, what I meant to say, was by oweing up, making all good, they do owe Poland
something. but i guess its easy to forget. and, hey, BTW hello, USA doesnt
take over and keep the land. Russia and Germany Wiped Poland off the map for
a while. dont see the USA doing that now do ya?

Yes during war, there is casulties, what about 911? or that dont count?

we didnt come there first, remember that, we were at home, they opened up
on us.

we dont go without good reasons, and we dont shove people in cattle cars
tell them they are going to siberia to be re-educated on communism and
starve them to death while making them work till their death in sub zero
weather now do we????

your argument has no weight.. get back to topic.

the question remains is were they really worth the blood shed?

Witek!!

I am surprised at you!

for freedom, how can you say they werent worth it. so let them do what they
want to a nation of people?

just imagine it being you, who is herded on to a train sent to siberia .

just because you believed in something.

History / Poland's January Uprisings of 1863 [76]

why don't you agree? think

do you think that nothing would have happened to these people anyway under hitlers
orders? he was killing people anyway! starving them, enslaving.. not worth it my
arse!!

Who has any rights to take away freedom?

2. 90% of Warsaw is destroyed on orders from Hitler

Witek, Before any uprisings hitler was killing, I would go down fighting. as many did
you dont sound so proud of your country for doing this. I am so disappointed.

What, no more responses to something that involves history of Poland?

ok so they take these prisoners away to Siberia, do some of them make it back
to poland is my question?

I know in some circumstances during WWII that they did , but going further back
to the uprisings of January 22nd 1863.

This type of history, we dont have/learn about here. But I think with each country,
they try to focus on history within that country, there is so much to learn from every
different country.

They get angrier, and take out their anger in ways that would make even Satan cry

oh yes alot of them still are around, they are very old, but they remember.

just as do the older ones in Poland. something they cant forget till they die.

History / Poland's January Uprisings of 1863 [76]

Just as some of my mothers cousins who came there and seen and couldnt believe
what they seen. it was horrific.

I was taking care of a lady recently. she was put in a camp.

she had dementia someting like that, usually they revert back to childhood, and
she reverted back to the traumatic part of her life. she was in those camps

its still very real to those who went through it.

They'll even remember it after then, but that doesn't mean we can't get along with Russians

I am not saying dont get along with them. but Both countries did everything they
could to wipe out a nation.

both should be responsible. Germany did the right thing. shouldnt russia.
I think so. even if it never happens, I think they should step up to the plate
even now if they did something, i think it would create a stronger bond,

dont you think so artur?

It would show they do have character, and remorse, and even though they are
also a strong nation of people, it would give them a better reputation in the long
run. I think people would see things differently towards them.

History / Poland's January Uprisings of 1863 [76]

I recently found out that there was a book written about those who were deported
of course it only shows their names, which is good, i have that, what i want is to find
out if they made it out of siberia.. I know people didnt stay there, unless they did
I am very unclear as to those sent during that time, what their outcome was?

Rather wondering if they escaped, released? I mean whole towns of people were
sent, so did they survive? did they die there? just unclear picture to me..

help?
