Your right it was the Pope! The same Pope who turned a blind eye to chile abuse...from the same church that turned a blind eye to Nazi atrocities during the war.

The end of the Cold war wasn't caused by a ship yard worker in Gdansk or a Polish Pope however you Poles like to spin things or even Thatcher and Reag[an. Had the Russian leader had the will to stay communist Poland would still be. Their will was broken by the influence of western culture and media especially undeground radio in the last 60's and 70's. So there we go..... British radio and pop culture had a massive effect on the leaders of Russia....

So for me i'd say Paul McCartney ended communism... Pope John Paul and Lech did nothing instill the notion of freedom into the Russian kids heads.

Welcome. 6000zl net per month is about 4x the minimum wage so you should be ok. Why don't you take a couple of years out from education and gain so valuable 'life' experience.. The world is full of 22-23 year old graduates with none of this and no hope of every getting a Job. If you want to why dont you take these couple of years to pre-study at your own pace for your Bachelor. You'll end up with experience, a better Degree result and be much more 'employable' at the end of it.

Not always the case. I live in Poland, live with a Pole and work with Polish people. I shop in Polish shops with my hard earned money and pay Polish taxes. If i have a view about Poland, the Poles or the UK i feel like I have as good a right as anybody.

The problem with this forum is you have certian types of people.

a) those who are Polaphile's and who through whatever association feel like the must take the place of the 'official' government spokesman by bigging up all that is written in the Press. Most of the time it's just downright lies and being a resident I have a right to dispell them (however unsavoury this may be) or defend others who live here and have the same experiences.

b) the anti british and american crowd... get on my tats, a one yesterday saying that the brits didn't know how to grieve because they didn't wear black and gry for a month and visit graves as a hobby...who spount on about Yalta and the british empire or how many indians the americans have killed.

c) the general idiots... one called blacks 'sooties' ffs and was glad that poland didn't have any!!!

In general I feel that alot of people on here have a misguided Polish 'rose tinted' view of poland.

I manage a business and if i'm looking for a member of staff i'll always choose experience over education. Not saying that education is worthless but there are 10's of thousands of people will great degrees and no common sense. Good workers tend to have it by the bucket load. Also, never turn down a job because it's below you..or you feel that you are better. A cleaner if they put their mind to it can start their own cleaning business and be a miliionaire before a rocket scientist.

To be honest Grzegorz Polish degrees don't hold much water with foreign companies. Everybody and their granny in Poland has one they make exam results so easy to keep the masses happy (it's the old socialist trick) . That's the reason why Polish university's arn't highly recognised outside of Poland. The reson why foriengers are paid more is due to the international expertise and knowledge that they will bring to the table plus a higher productivity.

Look at the Worlds Top 200 universities and see if you can find a Polish one. If you have a guy who studied in Poland and a guy from say Manchester University I know who'd get the job with a foreign company. There are numerous reasons why Universities make the list and universities don't. In fact, Polish universites rank 39th in the world in a list of top universities.

Polish education is rubbish.... it produces cheap factory workers at best.

Please show me any remarks that i have made that are crude. If i have made any remarks then they are accurate and i can back them up with sources. Usually they are a reply to inflammatory remarks regarding a post by myself, the english (of course we are all responsible for Yalta) or a general defense of the EUSSR or the Polish Government. I think you have bigger fish to fry them myself on this board...some of the comments I've read about races (blacks and Jews).

P.s. a term is only hurtful if people allow it to be... the scotts call us english sassanachs, the french 'rost beef', the aussies 'poms', the americans 'limies' but do we get upset...hell no...because we have a backbone and are told from a young age that 'sticks and stones, may hurt your bones, but names will never hurt you.'

Most Polish cities outside of the town squares are pretty nasty. They arn't helped by very lax planning permission and the amount of roadside advertising. In the UK cities can have ugly estates but on a whole planning permission is tighter then in Poland so doesn't allow the same to happen.

Take a look at Malbork (not the castle) as an example of ugly polish towns!

Run down in one country is a different kettle of fish as run down in another. Take a look at a beautiful little seaside town like Sopot...walk 10 yards from monte casino and it's a right sh@thole.

Seaside towns in the UK are in a better state then Sopot. Take a look at tourist city centres....London/Warsaw, York/Krakow, Durham/Torun... the UK's stricter planning permission is the difference.

New Brighton is the other side of the mersey from Liverpool.


The majority of the beautiful Polish cities were built by foreigners in Poland. Poles arn't known for their non-concrete building skills or bulding skills at all.

How long will they keep blaming others for the state of the cities? The Poles are unable to devise a decent planning policy when it comes to the aethetic look of towns and cities.. FGS have you seen the bright blue plastic room tiles and the awful polish salmon pink paint schemes?

If you buy a house in England you look at the area and how it looks. In Poland it all look in a right state. It's Planning not poverty to blame!
