Law / Opening a Polish Bank Account by a foreigner in Poland. Recommendations. [299]

"SEPA transfers. You can get very close to the interbank rate when exchanging PLN for EUR (you won't with GBP), and likewise when transferring EUR to GBP. It's much harder to get good deals on PLN/GBP transfers, at least in my experience."

Thanks for the explanation. I have just tried via the internet to do a couple of mock transfers as you suggested, aside from any transfer charges there wasn't much difference which surprised me TBH. Its the bank charges that would concern me especiallly as neither country actually has Euros as its currency, also like you suggested you need to perhaps do this in person rather than via internet banking.

We have PLN and GBP accounts with ING Bank Poland and over the next 6-8 weeks need to transfer about £200k into PLN. Any suggestions would be welcome.

The bank give rediculous exchange rates so we normally take money from our Polish GBP account and pop down the road to the kantor and return 10 minutes later with a fistfull of Zloty, the biggest pain is we can only take out £10k at a time and they also require 24 hours notice per transaction.

Real Estate / Valuation of Inherited Real Estate in Poland for tax purposes? [14]

My understanding is the Capital Gain would be the current market value of the property when sold......not what it is actually sold for. No doubt several estate agents would give you an idea of what the property is worth, this then goes to 2 different local council departments to see if they agree.

I thought I was clear..........in your situation I believe it will be option 'b'
You will pay 19% of the agreed value of the property when sold- within 5 years of inheritance, there are no deductions.
It might be possible to use your own permanent country of residence if the tax regime is to your benefit, prepare to pay heavily for legal advice, ours has cost about £8000 plus £1600 for the two wills to minimise our future UK tax situation, this will change to Polish rules once we have owned the property for 5 years.

Real Estate / Buying property in Poland [41]

As a cash buyer 3 years ago I can confirm that our initial deposit was refunded in full, the seller stated that the new property was connected to mains drainage, this was not in fact the case as we found out from our lawyers/ surveyors. The seller and developer tried to have us agree to pay just 50% of the required 'septic tank' installation.

We refused, our deposit was refunded by the seller whilst we were in the developers office the same day.
You can have anything you want written into the contract so long as both partys agree and they are legal.

Real Estate / Interior Architect Prices in Poland [13]

I am pleased someone has given you a more realistic idea. I was just going through some paperwork here for work we have had done and it appears that we have expensive tastes.

For kitchen works, built to order (including fitting) it came out at just over 5850m2
Bathrooms were average. 2850m2

Sorry, but I thought this was a genuine request for advice.
It would appear that it is just an advertising campaign, judging by the website it needs all the help you can get.
