History / Famous Russian Poles [243]

Some would say the Poles have always fought ruggedly and well for what they believe in. It's not the losing that counts here, it's the fight you put up and the defending of those core values you hold so dear.

Russia values nuclear weapons, Poland doesn't. Russia is HUGE, Poland is tiny. So what? Such is geography.

You seem to be a megalomaniac type CK.

Freedom of thought is a choice in itself. To think or not to think, that is the question.

Yeah, when you probe deeper, for sure. You could incorporate the physical Vs mental demarcation for a start.

I don't know if CK understands freedom in its fullest sense.

So, you are free when you are captured? That's absurd.

Freedom is inside us, you said. Well, why did you say that we are captured by the circumstances of our lives? Hardly freedom, CK.

Why aren't we taken to court for murdering flies, CK?

Yes, CK, hardly a retort. I mean people trying to murder me, with the requisite mens rea.

We attach value to sth ourselves, based on our experiences and rights to choose. And no, you are wrong, I don't enter into who or what has more of a right to live. I value animal life very highly too. You are the one bandying words about. I didn't even imply that I placed my life's value on a higher pedestal than that of anything or anyone else. I simply respect the right to live.

You are not communist? Wow, was that a gust of wind? Well, it is autumn, there should be leaves swaying in the breeze.

Communists are the most untrustworthy pieces of sh*t to ever set foot on the planet. At least with serial killers, they had some predictability and didn't change their spots. They were honest about what they were, heinous and brutal.

America is still a capitalist country and it is very Christian. What are you smoking over there, man?

Stoic, is that what you call it? LOL

It's not about immortality, it's about respect for life

Get out of the Gulag mentality man, people do have choices. Russia hasn't introduced freedom of choice yet? Of course we have choice laddie

Which part? How you callously comment on the limited value of human life and how it can easily be taken away. Life's what you make it and no fool will take mine away without a big fight.

Exactly Filios. Jewish claptrap and BS, the source of so much evil in this world. No, I'm not anti-Semitic, just a speaker of the truth.

Communism's great failure was the fact that it was shoved down people's throats. It was destined to fail for so many reasons.

That's a very cold and chilling account, CK.

Why are they poor though? People have choices. Aha, such hypocrisy here. You are implying that such a noble deed as feeding the poor is more important than life itself. By feeding VERY poor people, you are prolonging their life. Why then do you advocate the cheap taking of life? You reduce life to sth miniscule.

How about I push your off button? How about that?

Roman Catholic, what has that got to do with it? I'm not Catholic laddie.

Were the 20,000 Polish soldiers who were killed just animated pieces of meat?

Life isn't a God given gift? What's your grand theory then?

I don't pretend to know that much about the finer points of communism but the basic ideal is FAR from perfect, sunshine. How did people misapply it then? Doesn't that tell you that Soviets, as its champions, couldn't or didn't want to implement it as they were corrupt? Communism, LOL

How Constantine can compare lives to mere ideology is beyond me. Communism has a bad name internationally and Russia thrust it on Poland. No Slavic brotherhood there.

The worldwide prevailing of communism, lol. Communism, an idea for idiots.

Why should Polish people have to die for a dumb ideology?

Yeah, but it was hardly the high-point of democracy either

Constantine had a good point though. It's easier to point at others rather than look inwards at yourself for some

Well, war brings out those feelings although I do believe that we shouldn't be bound by past generations. Stalin and Hitler were wackos who gave their countries a bad name. Poles would do well to remember that the decisions of 2 men shouldn't blacken the name of their countries.

Also, Stalin probably killed more Russians than Poles anyway. Well, Soviets.

Life / Do Russians and Poles get along? [53]

It depends how you perceive partnerships. Usually, it benefits one party more than the other but not necessarily.

Locative, yes. Za can also mean that you are for (u r 4 sth) something. Jestem za aborcją. So, yes, the instrumental case too.

Great point. It's much easier from Polish to English. The same goes for translations. I have major problems converting from English to Polish. I'm currently getting grammar lessons to give my Polish some polish.

My fiancee brought my attention to a quality site. There is really much to learn here, I recommend this site to anyone who wants to improve their grammatical knowledge. Osioł, you are foremost in my mind at the moment of writing.

It may have been listed before but I'm not sure. Here it is, polish grammar.

It comes complete with tests which are tricky. English grammar I have down to a tee but parts of this site are a whole new world. Enjoy!!
