Real Estate / Building a house in Poland need advice from anyone that has built [100]

picture it this way. a cable runs top to bottom down the middle of the wall. it is one centimetre thick. this means that to get an even coat over the whole wall the plaster must be a little more.

with no cable showing, it's less plaster.

there is a special cutting tool that allows one to bury cables. so i'd say the plasterer was in part correct.

a cable should be in a chase or behind a metal cover. that's good practice.

Food / Polish bacon doesn't fry up? [70]

for a nation of pork lovers it would sell very well.

only if they know what to do with it. Poles might find the idea of bacon and eggs odd.

it's the same with heinz beans. they don't know what to do with them.

Language / Why is the Polish language so difficult? [309]

These Brits learned quite a bit of Polish

the bad language in that vid shows the type of Poles in the uk.

the bad language used here is not so extreme. it can be, but usually isn't.

Life / Why is circumcision not practiced in Poland? [701]

If a woman truly loves a man she's not gonna love him less coz his chuj is naked or not.

u make it seem that the skin is taken off the whole length.

as for naked. hardly so, as the foreskin retracts anyhow.

Life / Why is circumcision not practiced in Poland? [701]

ever notice how nearly all pûrn has guys with clipped ones?

in American pûrn that would reflect the high percentage of circumcision in that country.

i'm not familiar with Polish pûrn, so can't say if it's true or not.

UK, Ireland / Polish and East European prostitutes in the UK [240]

I don't mean to offend anyone but I've noticed that women from Slavic-speaking countries are very slutty

makes life more interesting, don't u think ?

Slavic immigrants make up the highest percentage of prostitutes and strippers in Germany.

really. it couldn't be that american prostitutes, for example, stay in america, could it ?

I forgot to say eastern Europeans in general. Romanian girls and Hungarian girls also have this problem.

must be true. after all who has met a slut from america.

BTW, what do you mean by slut ? in my day it meant, simply, badly dressed woman. these days it may mean prostitute.

Work / The level of English of Polish teachers of English. What do you think of it? [101]

Even the native speakers come with all kinds of accents.

i don't. even brit folk can't place where i'm from. there are quite a few folk who have travelled and have a neutral accent.

i was told that the best speakers of english language come from northern scotland or the islands of scotland. the reason being that they weren't affected by the mixed language of those to the south.

i also found that those on the falkland islands have a clear voice/accent, with a slight touch of new zealand. possibly for the same reason as northern scots. no-one ever visited them and influenced the language in a negative way.

i sure someone will tell me this is bollocks though.

I thought that the sense is that he should had "had, had" instead of one "had". Everything sums up :)

i edited and binned my reply when i realized i might be wrong.

Native speakers may not even have the required university degree.

one doesn't need a degree to teach. one needs understanding and knowledge.

Polish English teachers study the language.

this may be true, but in most cases it's not to the right level. there are gaps in their knowledge, which is one reason why students seek out native speakers.

students are not going to waste time with any teacher they can't understand. be he Polish or native.

I do not understand what's 2nd and what is 3rd conditional and the example does not explain that.

second conditional:

wish/hope/not likely: if i found 1,000,000 i would buy a new car.

third contitional:

something that can't be changed:

i would have gone to the party (yesterday) ....... if you had asked me.

third conditional is often used when folks are angry:

i would have fucking gone to the party, if you had fucking told me about it.

1981. Zbig -- getting attracted to punk-rock already in 1979 -- can see successful neighbours of the Torun based band Republika. Therefore, he forms his own band named Bikini. After that, his band creates a furore at the Jarocin Festival. Couple of years pass and the group gets disbanded.

in 1981, two years after hearing punk rock, zbig saw republika, a successful torun band, he then formed his own band named bikini, later his band creates a furore at the jarocin festival. a couple of more years pass and the band disbands.

is this what you are getting at, Antek.
