In the recent presidential plane crash I wondered why the chief rabbi of Poland, Micheal Shudrich, was not there. It's a legitimate question since several hundred officers murdered in Katyń were Jewish including the chief rabbi of the Polish armed forces, Rabbi Baruch Sternberg. Rabbi Shudrich was invited to the ceremonies but did not go. I found the answer though as to why.

Since the ceremonies were on Saturday, the rabbi was not able to fly as that would be a violation of the Sabbath. Keeping the holy day holy saved his life.

Assimilation was discouraged, but as we know people will fall in love. After the last war the percentage of Jews dropped to 1 or so percent and, as you pointed out, it is even less now. You made quite a leap in your assumptions and upon reflection I think you will see that this statement is a gross exageration:

There is a French and German translation (2002, 2003), yet in seven years there is no English translation. I haven't read it, but it must contain facts that don't support the Jewish victim line and proof of Russian antisemitism.

Re: Gross. You should read his very first book which he wrote when he was still Polish. His tune was completely different. Then he cought on that you can make a career writing about Polish antsematism, although he says he has never experienced it himself. His father was saved by a Polish woman during the war. They later married and had little Jan who much, much later turned antisemite hunter.

M-G, if you are interested in Jewish Roots IN Poland, you should expand your reading list beyond charlatans like Jan Gross. His books on post-war communist Poland do not take into account (deliberately) the very visible Jewish role in state sanctioned murder during the Stalinist period. The same period he writes about. He sets out to prove antisemitism for dubious reasons, and people like you are happy to fall for it.
