- viciously intelligent
- generally good with money (like to save a lot for the dark hour anything that could be useful)

- Physical strong (even the geeks), high endurance
- high rate of survivability
- proud

Bad:
- Very mean, defensive, suspicious, sarcastic, persistent on getting even, angry with the past, like to b**** a lot, unforgiving, compulsively competitive, ( ha! I showed them – kind of thinking), tending to think that wounds/physical problems don't need a doctor’s attention until they pass out unconscious.

Definitely not, the invasion of Poland has nothing to do with a common trust.

the US constitution was created in mind of people distrusting the government to do the right thing.

You can't just trust people. You see horror stories here about gullible young kids every day. I would say being reasonably suspicious, and having healthy amount of distrust to unfamiliar and unverified people is natural and a very healthy response.

Policemen are like Firemen, they have to be polite, can't take bribes and need to serve and protect you. You call them when you see a problem. If you can't trust your own Police in Poland, then again, you’re about 15 years behind the cure with the rest of the world.

They're civil servants, if you're law abiding citizen you can flip them off and they can't do anything to you. There is this guy who actually does that to make a point about the right to free speech. He flips the police off anytime he sees one. Of course he was interviewed on TV because,,, he is a total idiot but I admit,the whole thing was kind of funny.

Anyway,

The point I'm trying to make is that your Police should be there serve and protect you, making sure people in your neighborhood are safe. You pay their salary, that’s their job.

You are sort of making my point here. Everyone knew ahead of the time what was cooking, there was plenty of time to figure out how to prevent it.

I was a search and rescue swimmer in the U.S. Navy for 4 years, got out in 2k. My job was mainly to save people but I've seen people killed too, it's the most f-ed up thing. The Georgian Government should prevent it.

Georgia could easily diffuse this situation by making a deal with a bigger and more powerful Russia. Instead they insisted on playing a victim provoking Russian attack.

Georgian Government should have acted in the best interest of its citizens. That makes them equally responsible for the tragedy there. They should make a deal and appeal it later with the U.S. on their side. Another example of a government ran by a bunch of selfish idiots.

Germany was in ruins, 20 years later it took them 20 days to take out the whole well developed Poland. The only thing we had by then was a well organized husaria... Let's charge some tanks!

Poland was created to weaken Austria, Germany. Russia agreed to move the deal forward. They were horrified of Germany, Our nation was reestablished as a side effect of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919.

I think there is a better explanation. Industrial centers, cheap skilled labor. That's what he needed. Gerries did not worry about Poland becoming a power house. Germany was poor back in 1918 but Poland was broke and clueless. Sort of like now.

in 1939 southern Poland was just fields, villages, one or two cities and a few roads here and there. No industry at all. Strategize for a second here. If you were Germany how would you control landmass like this knowing you going west next? Russia on the other hand had a lot of experience in controlling massive and useless landmasses. Germany basically used Russians.

They needed Ruskies to control the rural part of Poland which they had absolutely no interest in.

Russians of course considered this to be the best deal ever. One step closer to true Europe!

They have lost the battle but not the war. look at the big picture. The poor economy of Germany after WWI caused a reaction. Political turmoil, militarization, preparation for the battle of the century…

They are one of the richest countries in Europe 70 years later. They have won imo.

The history books were not written by Russians. They could not write back then. They have made up most their history during the Stalin era.

Just the same way they don't have clear records of how many of their own people died building st. Petersburg. ( And never mind the names of people who died, they were just peasants)

I've noticed this pattern with conspiracy theories in a lot of Polish. It's good to analyze, and have a skeptical mind but use it to search for the simplest answers first.

Reason why you hear more about German war crimes is because Germans were better educated and sophisticated in documenting everything. It’s a known fact. On the other hand Russian literacy rate before WWII was less than 30%. As a matter of fact this number can not be verified because record keeping in Russia was atrocious before WWII.

How can be the records made public if NO ONE was recording who was shot over there.
You study history, but have no clue…

My grandpa was in Wehrmacht, spent 2 years in Russian POW camp. He told me that the only people who could write were high ranking officials. There was no official written record of him being there ever produced.

The Russian guy in charge of the camp could only count to 5. My grandpa escaped with 4 other guys and Russians haven't noticed it for days.

You will never know who was shot there for sure.

I got it. It sounds very different when you say it in English.

Sometimes it feels like I have a split personality. I'm totally different person when I think English.
I have to force myself to think Polish to be able to get Polish jokes. It's such a weird feeling.
My transition from Polish to English was very drastic. Basically, I woke up one morning and started to attend an American middle school. Everything I’ve learned in Poland felt no longer applicable and obsolete. I guess this is the reason why I hang around PF, to fill this gap somehow.

Considering the intent ... sort of funny.
In my opinion Polish jokes are very inconsiderate, rude and personal. “Getting even with someone” is to be considered a very funny thing especially in the punch line.

Nevertheless being aware of how the other nationalities perceive funny, quite or polite can be quite useful.

Let me share a story with you. This happened a few years back.

Young and attractive Polish Business woman was invited to attend a business meetings here. One of the American VPs decided to complement the lady about her attire so he said to her: Nice to meet you, you look very nice today, may I buy a drink? Let’s talk business :)

What happened next?

She flipped and essentially called him a pervert… he just assumed she was a psycho.

Unfortunately she didn't get to close this deal that would truly benefit her company. As far as I know she was fired for that.
