UK, Ireland / Polish People are Welcome in Scotland [41]

I have a cousin in Aberdeen and he has the vote and he will vote to remain in the UK as all his family will.

Your point being?

Life / Typical Polish house and family [46]

Frankly speaking I prefer Polish style of drinking to UK one with being completely drunk as the goal and most having 'warm up' drinks. For Pete's sake- I'm going out to have that drink with my friends.

While Poles drink quite a lot the times of getting hammered with a bottle of wòdka are going into the past.

Life / Why oh Why do Poles drive so incredibly poorly [100]

I sometimes think it's the UK roads that are responsible for better driving- the roads are so narrow most of the time it's almost single lane. You have no choice but to be careful :)

Driving is awful in Poland, that is true. As to the specifics- not so much in my experience. I don't know about Warsaw but in my area people drive normally in rain and snow and people don't stop in the middle of the road. More likely they will block the footpath.

UK, Ireland / Starting a car business in Poland - exporting from the UK [5]

While the market for second hand car is better in UK( bigger pay plus smaller market) I don't think you could win with Germans being right there behind the border with cars adjusted to our traffic arrangements . Plus you are looking at Brexit and any tariffs that may cause.

News / Dodgy PRL-holdover judiciary finally reformed [420]

J. Korwin-Mikke

Please don't make me laugh. That guy gives me creeps and I would end up in psychiatric hospital knowing my vote went to someone like that

And it wasn't about parliamentary majority but general support

They are not breaking the law but interpretting it differently.

Actuallly they are if those lists are not complete.

And A. Duda wanted to change the constitution but they realised they don't have thw support

I'm not saying that PiS methods are clean.

And that says it all. How can you create clean enviroment when you start by shitti*g in the middle of the room?
If there is something wrong with those lists all the KRS decisions are under question not to mention that our head of state, defender of the constitution broke the law. And we are supposed to leave it to such people to create standards? No thanks.

It doesn't have to be explained to anyone but half-wits,

So why the support list is not released? It's a legal requirement and suspending a judge for trying to see if it's ok is weird at best...

News / President Duda rules out homo marriage in Poland as banned by the constitution [172]

@Rich
More and more people decide not to have kids or want remain single. And they are saying it loudly and clearly. Dropping birth rate would suggest that more and more people don't see having kids as their life's goal.

That is for sure a sign of hidden homophobia

I wouldn't go that far but if you add this to it:

Because it makes a mockery of marriage.

It starts to point in that direction

civil and legally binding union!

Not in Poland.
And if it's all the same anyway why differentiate between civil union and marriage? What reason would there be for it?

It is a lot less than 10%

Of course. I was just asking at what point should the rights of minorities be respected. If I asked you if the only family in UK of certain origin or religion should have the same rights as the others I'm sure you would say yes. But suddenly when it comes to gay people their number starts to be as issue

It doesn't disgust me. It makes no difference to me btw. And a lot of heterosexual couples do exactly the same thing as gay couples do.

As to being parasites- is having kids the only goal? Because if that's the case all those single or infertile or simply childless people are screwed...Unless of course that only somehow applies to gay people

I thought marriage was mainly about having children

What about inheritance? What about medical info and the right to make decisions in case your spouse can't? What about tax breaks? What about legal protections in case of testyfying?

Somehow all that is available to straight couples even if they don't have and never intend to have kids.

What percentage of the population is 100% gay?

Seriously? We shouldn't care just because there is not that many of them? Does that apply to any minority? What treshhold should we implement- 10%?

Overwhelming majority of Polish society sees the question of what two adult men do in their free time as their entirely private business

Besides the time when they get beaten up for holding hands. Or are being bullied in school. Or many other things.

Food / Which foods are generally disliked/unpopular in Poland? Which non-Polish foods are slowly gaining popularity? [140]

Central north London where many Greeks and Turks live you get the best kebabs.

I can easily believe it- after all it's the capital city but generally the standard is low with ready made sauces.
All the places I visited in Poland and Germany had their own recipes with great salads.

But in general I find most cuisine from the former Yugoslavia very appetising.

The food is good but I think their biggest asset is how they run the place- the way they treat their customers plus the atmosphere- great place to spend a nice e evening

I'm quite surprised that so many of you think it's ok to put judges under political rule. Forget our political scene at the moment and think long term- you really can't see a danger in a political body being able to influence courts? Seriously?

And how can there be a good change starting with some questions about legality of KRS ( a judge is suspended because he wanted to look into support list legally required in the process? Seriously?)
