I wouldn't celebrate just yet Spike. Big plus for Konfederacja at the moment is of course that they will get their subsidy soon and that should allow the party to pay it's way for a bit. If it won't be able to substantially increase their support than I doubt they ever will.

I didn't report on that because I didn't make my mind up. I'm not sure I trust either side. She however added comical element to it by talking about her 'little son' (15 at the time) and asking Kidawa-Blońska to condemn Gazeta Wyborcza (what she has to do with it? The only comment could be 'I have no idea what happened at the time so I cannot judge')

And what does it say that he tried 4 times and never finished? Again, even if we forget intelligence it reflects badly on his character. Especially since he is not a free spirit art person but theoretically a conservative candidate for a president.


Well, my whole point was that he is invisible at the moment.
Of course it may change but judging by the situation right now people will forget he is even a candidate.

Btw, just read that Konfederacja wasn't granted a loan for the campaign. Of course explained as the hostility towards the party. Anyway, they are still talking to some smaller banks and count on some donations.

Meanwhile Kosiniak-Kamysz is talking about 1000+ for students now...Smells of populism....

Ultimately he has a high school diploma. He might be smart but educated is a stretch. Not finishing even one of his courses says something if not about his intelligence than about his character.


That ultimately takes him out of the race then...A candidate with such tiny support has no chance without making a big presence.


Would matter if I followed it. I don't. So that is not the factor. The thing is all the other candidates are reported to do stuff (scandals, signatures etc.) Bosak nothing since the wedding. If it carries on people won't even know he's running let alone vote for him.

And let's be honest- they cooperate now because they have no real power and have mutual enemy. Once that is gone and different national interests come into play I doubt they will be so cooperative

Ok Torq- time for first celebration !!!
Kosiniak-Kamysz is the first candidate to give the voting commission the required support signatures.
It took them only 10 days and they managed to get 250 thousands signatures. Of course some will be invalid but they have plenty to spare. I must say I am pretty impressed. And they didn't even need the help of faithful taking signatures after mass :)

You have a point here. If they overdo it it will work against them. As usual. People won't dig into what is the matter, they will side with whomever they perceive as victim.

But it does seem that PiS is loosing it and have some internal problems. We will see.

Oh yes, they are really devoted. Most that I met are a really nice group. That is the kind of faith that really helps go through life I guess. Funny thing is I never met a hateful person among them and they were never preaching to anybody.

I'm not talking about extremism but having some (ANY) vision and values worth fighting for. PSL was alwasy mostly 'flaki z olejem'. That's why it's possible PSL will get the president, whose role it is to be that kind of balance between political power but I don't think they will ever become a major player.

While I'm no fan of Kidawa-Blońska I think you are letting your emotions get in the way. For now clearly Bosak is the weakest and Biedroń may have problems. Kidawa-Błońska clearly has less going against her than those two. Different thing is what she will do with that potential during campaign.

The big plus for Duda is his daughter- clearly smart and ambitious. But I don't think she wants to/ can get too involved.

Yes but PSL was always too mild with no vision always the best coalition partner because they never really stood for anything.

Now I'm reading miners are planning a strike in Warsaw. Huge one apparently. They want 12% pay increase and want the government to stop companies from buying Russian coal AND to confiscate the one they already have...While quite interesting in itself I wonder what impact it will have on the campaign. As many commentators said- putting so much emphasis on Duda being PiS candidate will work against him during every scandal and argument involving PiS

I hope they won't overdo it. It can backfire.

It's a bit like that story with Duda's stalker- she posted again that they have an affair and called on the president to admit it. A lot of comments saying that it's the opposition stunt.... If that women won't shut up it may harm the other candidates (mostly Kidawa-Błońska I guess)

The party might be huge but their electorate isn't. Simple as that. You treat your guy like some holy grail of a candidate and he simply isn't. He is good but not to that extend.

As to Kidawa-Błońska. One, she has PO electorate but even outside her party her negative electorate will be fighting with Duda's one. And hos one is not small either.

What really shocked me is that when Kaczynski started talking about Duda during convention he started with Smolensk. It's so many years, he already serves as a president and yet his description starts with that?

To add to it some commentators are worried that choosing two people to run the campain is a mistake that may cost them dearly. Especially since both of them are MEP's and because of that not in Warsaw so much.

BTW- it seems PiS takes Lichocka scandal a bit more seriously than Iron. The rumour is she was supposed to be the campaign spokesperson but now they will hide her till election
