Law / Currency rates: $ € ₤ zŁ. The interrelationship. [5]

It really depends on what is going on in each of the countries as an individual compared to the other countries mentioned.

I won't pretend to be an expert in economics, but recently it was pointed out that the US, Canadian and Australian dollars were all converging at parity. For the longest time, the US Dollar was king and was worth anywhere from 1.50 to 1.30 Canadian dollars. But due to several factors like interest rate policies in individual countries (attracting foreign investors) forecasts of economic growth, jobs data, current and future commodity prices etc. the Canadian and Aussie dollars have surged.

Both CA and Aus economies are heavy on resources (mining, oil, forest products etc) and are suppliers to Asia, where the boom continues to feed a growing middle class in China, India and other nations. So, consequently their "net value" is on the rise. Compare that to the US where the housing crisis, unemployment rate and national debts / operating defecits has decimated the nation's consumption abilities, and one would easily see where the money is flowing to, and the effect on currency evaluations. Who want's to bet on a lame horse?

Also, you have to look at who holds a great deal of American Debt. The Chinese have been snapping it up over the years, but if they get antsy, they can (and likely will) dump it for something a little better - causing the USD to fall further.

Additionally, the US may want to have a "low" dollar in order to make US goods more affordable around the world, thus putting Americans back to work.

I am sure somebody closer to the situation in PL could point out why the zł is a rising star compared to the US dollar....

So, no, there is no simple answer.....

Food / Traditional Polish Soups. [85]

I know Poland has a broad range of soups but I tend to see rosół (broth) all too often. I'm not complaining as I like it :)

I like my rosol enough too. But it serves as a great base for other soups. One of the favourites with the kids is to throw in a tin of tomato paste, along with a bunch of elbow noodles, and make a tomato soup. But you gotta make sure there are some decent onion chunks to give it a bit of variety. BTW, I like being the lucky one who gets the bay leaf in my bowl.

Love / 20% of adult Poles are single and live with Mummy! [241]

You are really the exception.

Maybe that is an indication of how parenting has changed over the years. From instilling independence and maturity to fostering friendships at the expense of independence and maturity...

Living in a condo all alone, when you don't have to?

Work was a part of it. I didn't want to do an hour commute to get to work. Price of gas would certainly offset the rental costs.

For the betterment of your character?

Possilby, but also the ability to live within my own rules, go about my schedule without regard for impacting others...

Making yourself a better, self relient person?

A skill that lasts a lifetime.....

Love / 20% of adult Poles are single and live with Mummy! [241]

I know my parents never had the luxury of living with parents when they first got married. They lived in little flats above stores for the first years until kids came along, and as they worked and saved, they were able to afford better accomodations and eventually their own little bungalow (we moved in when I was 8). Years later, it was paid for. Along the way there were many lessons they learned (school of hard knocks), but they were independent and instilled independence in us kids. We learned that the choices you make in life have consequences from a personal, professional and financial perspectives. I lived alone for about 3 years in a nice little rented condo in a reasonable building before I met the better half, and we have moved on from there. Nobody picks up after me, I can do my own (and my wife's laundry). Independent living matures a person in so many ways.

There is nothing sinful in cohabiting til the time is right to marry

And in some's eyes, that would only be true if nothing sinful or carnal is going on.

Euchre is a wonderfully strategic game played by four with partners sitting opposite of each other. Cards used are the 9, 10 ,J ,Q, K & Ace. 5 cards dealt to each player, the 4th last card is flipped up, and starting to the right of the dealer each player can order the dealer to pick it up, thus making the partner of the dealer to try to win the hand alone. You make one point if the team can win 3 of the "tricks", or two points if the team wins all 5 tricks. If the one player goes it alone (without the aid of the partner) and wins all 5 tricks, you win 4 points. If all players pass on the card placed face up, the player to the right of the dealer can call a suit which he feels that he and his / her partner could win a point.

First to score 10 points wins the game.

Cohabitation has many benefits as he said and that applies across the board.

But he referred specifically to multigenerational cohabitation, and not the type of sinful cohabitation that leads to the downfall of society. You and I may see the benefits in the latter, but that doesn't ring true to P3.

Never heard of Euchre?

And the root cause of that is.....

...excessive debt as a result of schooling?
...failed relationships?
...lack of individual survival skills?
...lack of job opportunities?
...cost of living?
...lazyness?
...other?

Law / I'm from Nigeria, but want to be a Poland Citizen [44]

I don't know how possible is it,but i want to be a Polish citizen. I am from Nigeria ,Africa

It just so happens that I know a guy. He had an uncle die a few years back, and the uncle's estate is in lockdown by the government. He is looking for somebody to make a deal with. He would like to get out of Poland with most of the money, but because of his uncle's status, he can't readily access the money. He is looking for somebody to take his place, and pay the taxes on the inheretence. In exchange, you will get 30 percent of the 335,000,000 zloty (all after taxes of course), and you can have his citizenship. You need to help him get the money out of the country.

Your new name would be Dupy Burak, address would be 69a Smacznego Street in the nice Kurwa district east of the Wisla river, in Warszawa.

Would you be interested in helping him? All he would need is a cheque for 100,000 zloty as a sign of your good faith.

Love / Are all beautiful Polish girls as crazy as this? [262]

Well, I think otherwise :)

Not today, anyway.

I'll leave grill discussions to the food thread :)

Perhaps her diet is responsible for her crazyness? Could also be hormonal?

Ach, you are better than to discuss things at this level, Shawny ;)

Not really. :-)

Craziness often comes from suppressed and unfulfilled souls.

Maybe true, perhaps there is a family history of craziness in this grill's case.

Love / Are all beautiful Polish girls as crazy as this? [262]

well said Shawn:)

Thanks Aphro. Now can you tell me what it all means? I ain't got a clue.

something is a Polish trait in particular

Stereotypes are often based on elements of truth. As Seanus said, it does seem to be a prevelant behaviour amongst Polish models.

she often justifies her behaviour

Well, she is aware of her behaviour. That's a start.

but I've yet to come across a man who doesn't think she is (visually) stunning

Please back that up with some photographic evidence... ;-)

I'm beginning to wonder if having a model on my arm is worth all the hassle

Only you can answer this question.

Is it perhaps true what Woody Allen said that great beauty drives a woman mad?

I don't know if Polish people appreciate his humor. But beautiful people often are a different breed. In the past, I always found it interesting that Polish beauties were a lot more grounded as compared to "western" (and I hate to use that term....) beauties. Maybe that quaintness is starting to fade?

Love / Are all beautiful Polish girls as crazy as this? [262]

Yes, but the focus is on Polish women here

And an original question it was....

I don't think he was generalising either. He was asking.

Ahhhh. You are so astute! :-)

I think there are many such types here, I really do

So, we have attempted to answer the OP's question with anecdotal evidence. It is not really a definitive and conclusive study that answers the question. However that being said, the word "many" is key. From that, one could surmise that not all beautiful Polish girls are as crazy as this. However, we aren't exactly sure that the population in your sampling was all beautiful. Also, the term beautiful is somewhat subjective. One man's definition of beauty may be another's definition of hideous. There are and can be a number of cultural influences at play that could seriously impact the scope of the study.

Also, by reading and attempting to fully understand the question posed, are we to wonder if all beautiful Polish girls meet this level of craziness (let's assume that his sample was the 100th percentile of craziness), or whether his sample was the minimum standard, and that there are higher levels of craziness in the population?

They are selfish little primadonnas.

Can you clarify please? Are you referring to the beautiful crazy Polish women, or all Polish women who happen to be small in stature?

:-)
